Not as cheap as recent 3060 gaming laptops deals but with 16GB RAM and decent specs, this is great value for money IMO.

The TDP of the RTX3060 in this laptop is 130W which is very decent. Thumbs up!

  • Confirm the colour gamut and average response time of the screen before buying at these prices.

  • Great specs for the price. My only gripe is the 5600H processor which is aging. Still, absolutely bargain for this price.

    Cheaper elsewhere.

I have the the A7 X1 and I wouldn't buy one again - Ugly bulky case design, miniscule battery life, HUGE power supply, average screen, useless system support from Gigabyte.

At this price point unfortunately they are pretty much like this. Considering this RTX3060 draws 130W I'd say the power supply is understandly big for that reason. Also it is a gaming laptop so don't expect anything more than 2.5hrs with everything turning off.

Before you might bash me, I've bought the Acer Nitro 5 2021 as well and it was kind of the same experience minus the 130W RTX3060. So yeah it's not ideal but it does the job and I am ok with it. Occasional gaming with High settings on 1080p is the icing on the cake.

    • Ugly bulky case design, miniscule battery life, HUGE power supply

Sounds like the majority of gaming laptops to me.
Particularly the budget ones are designed to go powerpoint to powerpoint, the battery is more of an illusion than reality.

  • Thanks for sharing but been available on eBay for $1150 with code for quite a while now

Please note that this chasis - and all gigabyte gaming series aren't Gigabyte designs but aging 4 year old Clevo chasis. This particular one is a NH58 which was first in use with 1660ti and 9th gen intel chips. As mentioned by other ozbargainers, you are looking at very below average build quality for these. Its hard to say how well the cooling solution and overall build would hold up over the years if at all.

The 130w 3060 is the only positive thing here, as the overall chasis is definitely a lot of points taken away due to how cheap Gigabyte went with their budget gaming lineup.

    • Any recommendations on laptops in similar price?

At the 1149 price on ebay, impossible to beat it price to performance wise, given no other budget deals right now.

However, my point was that you are looking at paying the price in the long term as there's no telling how this chasis will hold up a year or two into the future, if it breaks earlier than others, well thats when you are going to wish you went for something else.

        • Thanks for the advice. If I were to sacrifice some performance for longevity is there anything you can suggest? I'm in the market to look for something around $1200
