  • Cool!

  • damn .. booked SQ last night with KF number … can't change the booking and add in velocity …

    • Assuming you can change and add velocity, would that be ok though?

I bought my SQ via Virgin website a couple months ago but wondering if activating this now would still be ok.

Edit, quick read doesn't say otherwise so just activated.

I think points are added on the day of the flight so there shouldn't be a problem. You should also be able to change and input your velocity membership no. when you check in.

To be eligible for the bonus Velocity Points promotion, you must: (1) activate this offer through the activation link contained in this email between 12.01am AEST 30 January 2023 and 11.59pm 12 February 2023 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) book and travel on an Eligible Flight between 30 January 2023 and 31 July 2023 inclusive

You can definitely add your Velocity membership number after your booking but you won't be able to get the bonus, unless of course you are on a fully refundable fare and if that's the case you could cancel and re-book provided prices haven't gone up since you booked

      • I think you could interpret this to mean that you only need to travel in that time period, not necessarily book

Also, I'm in the same boat, and the SQ website won't let me add my Velocity number due to a bug (it gives me an error) :')

        • Well point (2) book and travel […] between 30 January 2023 and 31 July 2023 inclusive doesn't leave much space to interpretation IMHO!

You'll need to call SQ to add your Velocity number but be careful, on some deeply discounted fares you earn next to nothing when crediting to VA, you could be better off leaving the booking under SQ and then transfer points across to VA after the fact

          • @bauser99: I'm also guessing (hoping :)) that they'd only be going off of the date of the point earn, as it might be difficult for them to verify the booking date for this offer (especially when you book through SQ)

Which fare classes is that true on? As far as I can see, all Economy Lite fares earn the same base 50% miles on both KrisFlyer and Velocity

In the same boat here, so have jumped into the manage my booking area of SQ and amended the frequent flyer program to VA (well it actually wouldn't allow the change, a system error, so have emailed them requesting the change).. Can't hurt to try with the bonus offer, would rather VA points than Kris anyway

      • thanks for the pointer ..trying .. can't hurt given i am on zero KF atm

    • You can definitely change to Velocity number. You can do it via Krisflyer call centre or at check-in at the airport.

  • These guys flying / codesharing to NZ again yet?

    • Virgin? Yes, to Queenstown

      • Sorry, I meant SQ. The SQ redemption used to be quite a bit less than Virgin.

  • You may also apply for a status match to singapore airline if you are elite members of velocity

  • Perfect. Need to go to Seoul in a few weeks and Shanghai in a couple months and usually always fly SQ around Asia. Won't say no to extra points when I was going to fly SQ anyway!

    • Finding "an Eligible Flight" might be an issue.

  • Flew on a SQ flight a couple of days back and got the 50% bonus. Ticket was booked in Jan - so the booking date does not seem to matter
