Belong refunding money to previous customers

Just got an email from Belong

While you were a Belong internet customer, we were unable to check the nbn™ connection and could not provide a line speed reading.

As a result, we are offering you a full refund of the plan you were on, including any exit fees you may have paid when you disconnected the service.

The amount to be refunded to you is $740.00.

So question is - is this scam or other people are also getting similar emails…

Can you provide more information? Are they asking you to click a specific link or login to some dodgy site or send your banking information somewhere? What's the e-mail address of the sender?

Seems legitimate, based on this press release on the ACCC's website re: taking Telstra to court over Belong's residential broadband speeds

Only 9000 customers, who were on 100/40 Mbps plans are affected, according to that. So lets not get too excited :-)

        9,000 customers x $740 = $6660000

Please change title to 'belong nbn'

    • Do you belong?

      • Yes, but mobile only. Sadly no refund for me.

  • Well I mean does the email ask you to do anything? If not, then it is probably safe.

https://www.telstra.com.au//exchange/our-responsibility-and-… has some information, but there IS a refund being offered to customers who were unable to get advertised speeds

  • Wow, you won the lucky award for today.

  • I have just received an email exactly the same. Was there a resolution to this?
