Free Whisky Decanter with Every $60 Glenfiddich 12 Year Whisky

70

Just saw this promotion on at Woolworths liquor. A free glass Whiskey decanter with every bottle of Glenfiddich 12 single malt. Dan Murphy's sells this for $59.99 regular price (but not sure if they are running the same promotion). I bought one for Ozbargain research of course, and the Decanter Bottle is quite nice.

For all the people interested in entering the wonderful world of single malt whisky, this is a clean, mild tasting one thats easy to begin with.

This is my second post. Don't need to go easy, I'll learn.

EDIT: Can a mod flip the picture provided? I made a mistake, and people will get neck strain.

Special is also available from BWS for same price (see link for pic) http://www.beerwinespirits.com.au/spiritsspecials.html

Decanter is kind of bullshit and is only 500ml. Better to keep whiskey in its bottle.

    As noted, cheaper at https://www.vintagecellars.com.au/Product/31431/Glenfiddich-…

      and is only 500ml.

good reason to drink the first 200ml yourself…

  • Can anyone give me a real reason why one should decant whisky? Why not just serve it straight out of the bottle?

    • -4

No good reason, particularly with a cheap branded decanter which would be silly to use for any other brand.

      • +5

you could use it to make your guests think that the $25 whisky you poured in it is actually $60 Glenfiddich…

        • fantastic idea for where to put the JW Red label to divert the attention of those who think adding coke is a good thing to do with my Chivas Regal or Black Bush (I hide rhe single malts and JW Gold before they arrive.)

    • The bottle looks nice, so I'll be using it if there are guests over since I have the signature cups which will look very good with it. If not, I'll probably use it to decant something else.

      give me a real reason

They are useful on seafaring ships, because the wobbling of the ship doesn't cause these wider bottles to spill.

When you pour whisky out of a decanter it makes you feel like a big man.

Some people say air can mallow out a whiskey over time and putting say your left over whisky into a decanter with less air prevents that alcohol evaporation blah blah blah…

But honestly if you need to worry about air evaporating the alcohol in your whisky, then I say your not drinking your whisky fast enough.

      • Exactly. People who complain about Whiskey breath don't understand…It's only a problem if you're not drinking whiskey.

sux that the decanter is only 500 ml tho

Bought one, cap is a bit crap and keeps falling off. Excellent for wank value when pouring a mate a Whisky.
