Good guys had this @ $499 just a few days ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754564

They probably can price match but don't want to

    • Also they wont price match with official store or website like samsung, dick smith, kogan.
They can only give me 100$ discount

These look like the models we have in our offices and classrooms at school (I'm a teacher). I can't report on how well they 'purify' the air, but I can tell you I've seen these knocked over, had things dropped inside them, kids bash into them all while turned on, and they still keep running, so they are pretty well made I'd say lol

How noisy are they? Maybe you won't notice it much with a classroom full of kids but what about in your offices or when the kids are not in the classrooms?

Depends on what fan speed you run it at. Slow (default) is similar in volume to the lowest setting on a cheap oscillating fan. The fastest setting is pretty loud

We run them on auto mode, I haven't noticed the noise really when in the office so it can't be that bad

This and the Phillips AC3033 were the best filters that Choice reviewed.

The AX90 removed 95%/95/43 (dust, smoke, VOC gas) and the AC3033 removed 81/83/65.

Almost all the other filters performed far worse.

You might also want to consider this item, which appears to be the purifier bundled with two additional filters for $649: https://ht.com.au/product/dk595-64738

If my interpretation that this includes a total of 4 filters (2 that come with the purifier + 2 extra), that means you're getting another two filters for just an additional $154, which is nearly half price. One filter retails for $149 (HT currently has them on sale for $129), and the AX90 requires two of them.

Per https://www.samsung.com/au/support/home-appliances/clean-and…, if you run it 24 hours per day, the filter must be replaced every 6-12 months, so the bundle will last you 1-2 years with no additional costs.

FYI, if you buy this, it will probably be delivered in a box labelled AX7000 or AX7500 (mine was), rather than AX90. As far as I can tell, they're all the same model.

    • if you run it 24 hours per day,

Who would run it 24 hours per day? I run mine for about 15 minutes per week, whenever the air seems smoky after using the oven. Occasionally I run it for 2 mins just to check the air quality.

Yeah, I got the AX60, and it came in a box labelled AX500. It's the same filter as the AX90, except only requires 1 filter. It's also easier to move as it's less heavy, and actually has wheels.

I thought it was the AX30 (roughly half-height AX90) that used just one of the same filters as the AX90. I think the AX60 uses a different custom size.

Who would run it 24 hours per day?

Who would run it 24 hours per day? The COVID cautious who live in unit blocks. I've had an air purifier running 24x7 any time there's been contagion in my neighbourhood (which since it's the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, has been most of the time since 2020, barring a few months hear and there of very low cases).

  • I'm thinking of availing this one. What's Stripe payment? do they accept Mastercard Prepaid cards (gift card)?
