Not even if it was free… the refills are proprietary and pricey.

you need to use the third party refills, you can get 100m for 60$

    • They are pricey however there are sufficient and adequate aftermarket compatible bin liners you can use that are cheaper.

I can dispose of 200 nappies for $6 with this. How about you?

        https://www.bigw.com.au/product/dymples-nappy-bags-400-pack/…

The twist n click product is an anti bargain.

        • TBH never tried the Dymples ones, only the Little One's nappy bags. Those weren't too bad but odour was still lingering afterwards. I have this nappy bin and as Stefce mentioned the cassettes are ridiculously priced; onIy recently purchased non-genuine refills and so far they are pretty good.
Thanks for the Dymples suggestion though will try these in the future.

        • Went through the angelcare product on and hundreds of wasted $ before seeing the light. Nappy bins are an absolute waste of money

        • Baby just keeps pulling them out and playing with them, the bin is one nice self contained unit they can't get in.

        • I can dispose of 200 nappies for $6 with this. How about you?

The selling point of the twist style is clearly the convenience, rather than just the bag itself…

I remember getting one of these (or similar) 12 years ago for first baby. The initial unit was a bargain but the cost of cassette refills was a rort. Once we ran out of the what came in the original box I chucked it.

It was really useful when I used it though.

Motto: check the refill costs before purchasing. I recall finding refills WAY cheaper on AmazonUK but they wouldn't ship to AUS at that time.

  • Same price at baby bunting. My friend suggests to buy refills on Amazon.

Looks like the refills are on sale too. 6pack for $50

We’re pretty happy with them the Ubbi nappy bin, the bin itself is more expensive but it’s works well and it takes normal rubbish bags from the supermarket, so probably ends up being more cost effective

Amazon regularly has the refills on sale and there are a bunch of third party replacements. I was skeptical when my wife insisted on buying this but it's been absolutely worth every cent.

Reviews states the new bin liners no longer help with the smell. Works initially but the bin smells after 6 months and washing doesn't get rid of the smell. Expensive cartridge even as third party too. Cannot recommend

    • I've used the bin for 1.5 years now and its holding in the smell.

We have one of these, and one of the Ubbi ones as well.

Fwiw, wife prefers the convenience and larger capacity of the Ubbi, so that is what we use at home. Tommee Tippee has way better odour elimination (even with individual bags, we often still get smacked in the face by the waft when opening the Ubbi! When closed, it's fine, though), so suits use at the folks house, where odour control more important than capacity.

We havent had to buy refills for the Tommee Tippee yet (because of the lower use, and because it came to us with third party refill), but dont get sucked into the buisiness model - go third party refills for sure!

Not sure how helpful this is, but that's been our experience of these two products. Both are good products with different advantages and disadvantages- but dont think you can go too far wrong with either, tbh. (So long as you avoid first party refills!)

  • I saw the price in big w

We have one. Used for 2 weeks. Now it just collects dust in the garage. Don't buy this.

    • What made you stop using it?

      • +2

@eraser215 we found that once we changed the baby, it was easier just throw the nappy out into our normal kitchen bin which gets emptied everyday. Whereas using this, the nappies build up in the bin and takes a while before we need to empty it - kinda gross…pee and poo fermenting in a bin. Plus the refill cartridges aren't cheap.

        • +2

This^ my sister has one and it still smells regardless because you end up putting so many in there before emptying (unless your kid goes through a lot!)

Ended up just wrapping ours in newspaper (local rag once it's been read) and they sit in a bin liner, no smell

        • +1

When they're a bit older and are pooing solids you can also just tip the nappy straight into the toilet and flush the poo away. And then bin the nappy. Minimal smells in my experience and I've not needed to use a nappy bin.

        • Thanks to you @M4festio, @cplagz, and @Dream-cast for the great advice. This soon to be first time dad is very grateful!

If all else fails, I suppose we could use this as a portaloo to go #2's

Only first time parents will buy this. Then they learn that used diapers are not really that bad when babies are still drinking milk. So the 2nd child just gets their used diapers collected in a regular pedal bin and dumped out every 2 days.
