Good price. But just a note to those who care about these things, when I ordered a box of Mayvers from Amazon every jar was individually wrapped in bubble wrap. There was a lot of plastic.

Perhaps naive of me to think it would be posted in original box and be able to survive. So I understand why they do it. But if you're trying to minimise plastics perhaps supermarkets when on special are the way to go.

Probably because someone complained that they received a broken jar (refer to the images in the review section).

When I received a broken jar they refunded all of the order including unbroken. Next time all were bubble wrapped, but cardboard or paper packing would have been better to reduce movement

Is the protein plus one any good?

Fairly sure this is on deal due to this article: https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/stark-truth-…

"Woolworths sells the peanut butter I consider the best – Mayver’s dark roast. That’s currently on sale for $5.80 for 375 grams. (It was $5 a year ago, so it has risen in price by a whopping 16 per cent.)

But is the Aldi one comparable to the Mayver’s? No way! My refined peanut butter palette says there’s no comparison, but to be fair, I checked the ingredient list and both of them are just made of peanuts and sea salt. On paper, they’re identical products, but to me? No way."

    • I don't think the Aldi one is made from Aussie nuts

        @whitlam:Neither is Mayver's peanuts.

I have stopped buying Mayyer’s Peanut butter. I was under the impression that the company sourced peanuts locally until I met a farmer from Queensland who brought to my attention that Mayyer’s did not use local peanuts but imported them from overseas and processed them here. It is sad to see a company from Victoria not supporting local peanut growers, so I decided not to buy any of their products.

Its a pity that I did not read their ingredients label like most people and assumed Mayver’s used Aussie nuts.

        1. Mayver's Crunchy Peanut Butter 750g: Made in Australia from less than 10% Australian ingredients.
        2. Mayver's Smooth Peanut Butter 375g: Made in Australia from at least 25% Australian ingredients
        3. Mayver's Smooth Peanut Butter 750g: Made in Australia from less than 10% Australian ingredients
        4. Mayver's Dark Roasted Peanut Butter Crunchy 750g: Made in Australia from less than 10% Australian ingredients.
        5. Mayver's Super Spread Cacao 280g: Made in Australia from at least 20% Australian ingredients
        • Thanks for that. I was under the impression they we Australian too. Not sure where I got that idea from, maybe they were previously.

          • @whitlam: The company advertises in their FAQ

Are your products made in Australia?
Yes, every single jar of Mayver's is made locally in Victoria, Australia from nothing but pure, natural wholefood ingredients that have simply been crushed, blended and bottled.

Of course it is locally made from imported peanuts. LOL
Once I saw this discrepancy, they lost a customer.

Looks like I'm sorted for peanut butter for a year.

Hope the flatmates don't mind giving up the pantry space.

  • Protein Plus still in stock, thanks!

  • It's a good peanut butter but I hate hate hate the consistency because I use it as a spread and it is far too runny and messy for that.

    • +1

make sure you stir it well otherwise it will be runny on top and dry on the bottom

      • No amount of stirring fixed the runny inconsistency. It is generally a very runny peanut butter no matter what you do to it. It's not easy to spread, if you are putting it in something, like when I make protein smoothies, then that is a different story, it obviously doesn't matter.
