I just ordered mine, here's how it added up
Samsung 23 Ultra 512gb : (Corporate RRP $1,799.20 less old phone for $1 + $200 trade in bonus) = $1598.20
Samsung Watch 5 Pro 44mm Cellular 4G : (RRP $849 less $200 watch discount less $250 evoucher) = $399
Bonus care (on phone only I believe) = Free (note: receipt will split the $249 discount between bonus care and the phone)

Total: $1,997.20

  • What is this free swaps plan?

    • the bonus care plan which does screen replacements and device upgrades. Best way I could word it I suppose. The plan is free but the refreshments or upgrades are not. You can read more about it here: https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/samsung-care-plus/

      • do you know if samsung care subscription is tied to your account and your phone?

        • Yes, had to do stat dec. For the one I sold last year to have it replaced

          • @Amr911: sorry, kinda confused by this, you sold your phone, then used your samsung care to get it refreshed?

  • +3

means its $50 cheaper than original, missing $100 out bonus trade from $300 one

    • Totally correct, $50 is the difference.

  • my friend at work got VIP portal 10% on top of whatever it is, means its gonna be $1650 minus $165.
and i am trying to get $50 sub and save

    • Where does your friend work

      • in kitchen, as chef

        • At Samsung?

          • @here4dealz: nope, he doesn't
            and i got S23 Ultra 512 for $1371
            including
            Phone , 4 Cases , 45W charger and Care

  • I've really been trying to rack my brain over what is the best deal to get in the galaxy S23 ultra 1tb from the deals that have been posted.
I can't bring myself to spend 2k on a phone.. But my poor little galaxy s7 32gb is not updating quite a few apps anymore and it gets quite laggy. The battery gets to lunch time and it's about 70% dead after minimal use. So I think it's time for an upgrade.
I have access to both edu and government portals.. But I'm not sure they are the best deals. I also wonder whether it's better to do the optus deal and cancel, or another option. I just seriously can't work it all out. Any seriously good ozbargainers out there know which deal is truly THE best?

    • +2

      Excel SS time?
Once you work it out - let the rest of the community know. :)

Was thinking the same time. Had looked at Samsung direct, Samsung via Westpac rewards, Amazon and the offer of $250 credit (same same as the others), etc…

I buy phone outright rather than via providers. Don't like being on a plan… Be interesting to see what the best deal is from an AU supplier.

      • I also don't like being on a plan.. But plan was to just cancel it straight away with the termination fee.

        • Looks like the Westpac Reward offer has been removed to the Westpac/Samsung portal for the time being. Weird as it was there a few days ago. Not the first time i've seen it removed though.

        Spreadsheet as requested
Please let me know if I've made any mistakes.

        Key insights:
        * Outright no trade-in: Samsung Retail cheaper than EPP^
        * TradeIn 1 or 2 devices: Samsung Retail still cheaper than EPP^
        * If you don't want Samsung Care+, JB Hi-Fi works out cheapest with Trade In
^factoring in the 10% Samsung Rewards credit

        Hope this helps :)

        • Well done with the Excel skills!

Not sure i'd have taken the rewards credit into consideration though. Maybe italics that and astirix.

I also believe the 10% rate is incorrect - you reflected a value of $197, in fact, if im not mistaken, its $19 odd.

"For an eligible transaction, you will earn Points equivalent to 1% value of eligible purchase amount. Every $1 spent earns 1 point, each point is redeemable for $0.01. Minimum 100 points required for redemption. For example, a purchase of $1,000 earns 1,000 points, redeemable for a discount of $10 on the Samsung eStore."

          https://www.samsung.com/au/rewards/

          Otheriwse, good effort in deed!

Praise for you good community member.

@mickyb80: Bonus 10% of Samsung points for ultra atm

        • This is great! Thanks a bunch!

Still trying to work out if I should go Samsung retail or TGG. TGG also has the $90 in store credit I believe.. As well as the $750 off if going on a $69/month for 12months plan. Some have been able to get $10-$20/months discounts. Where does that sit now with your comparisons taking this into consideration?

    • These epp ones are the best. $200 trade in bonus ($140 if you're not r sending a phone in) plus $250 off accessories (buy a watch or buds and resell it). Potentially $450 off the reduced epp prices.

    • +1

Your saving $50 on this compared to non EPP/Corporate.

    • Gotta splash out big so I'll be upgrading my S7 for a S10e. Same size bigger screen and better everything. Should cost around $280 for a "as new" refurb with 1 year warranty. Will save $1300 and grab the S23 in perhaps 3 years :-)

    • Just root it and install pixel rom

    • +7

I charted some of it in excel - here's a screenshot (https://ibb.co/pvqktbM). I didn't bother with Amazon, TGG and Costco as they all seem to be the same deal and the phone plan deal doesn't interest me.

      So here's what I found out in a nut-shell:

      • If you are just buying outright without any trade-in OR if you decide to opt for trade-in but don't actually send your phone in, the Harvey Norman deal (Phone Plan Deal) is the best - $599 outright + $897 Termination Cost for cancelling the Phone Plan = $1,496.00

      • If you are trading in a phone (and are actually sending your phone in), then it's either a toss up between Samsung direct or JB. I find that JB offers approx $50 more on your trade-ins but with Samsung you get free Samsung Care+, Samsung Reward Points and if you're lucky, you might even get cashback (some have said they received it, some said it was voided). There is also the 10% VIP Samsung discount given to those that own at least 6 Samsung devices (all you need to do is load up your cart and leave it for a day or so and Samsung will email you a 10% discount code) and $50 off with signing up to Samsung Newsletter. Also note that the 'gift card' from Samsung needs to be used immediately at checkout, otherwise it's forfeited. If you have access to those things I mentioned above for Samsung, then Samsung will give you more value.

      • The Harvey Norman deal is still a good deal if the value of your trade-in is not very high (see spreadsheet screenshot above - I used a trade-in value of $10 and HN still works out to be cheaper). However, you may find more value in the additional benefits from Samsung (e.g. Samsung Care & Samsung Rewards)

      • The information above does not take into consideration any discounted giftcards you have access to purchase

I'm still deciding whether I want to spend this much money on a phone.

      • Is this based on the 512gb ultra?

        • Yeah, sorry I should have made that clear.

I imagine it would be similar for the 1TB though

          • @DevlicK: Thanks for clarifying.
I'm trying to determine costs of the 1TB. I'm trying to future proof the phone for a while. Plus, whatever phone you get, you end up with less storage than advertised due to all the apps and all already pre-installed.

          • @DevlicK: Didn't include the $250 accessory bonus for epp? You Can easily get a watch/buds and sell it below market rates

            • @krisspy: I included it as a "gift card" in the spreadsheet

      • Does the Vip discount still work? I added 6 to cart and waited couple days but got nothing

        • You need to have owned at least 6 Samsung devices in the past (each device would have been recorded against your Samsung account). Not adding 6 devices to the cart

      • Can I asked how your getting the 10 percent VIP code from Samsung?

        • If you have previously owned at least 6 Samsung devices, each one registered in your Samsung account, all you need to do is add the s23 phone to your cart. Leave it for a day or so, and Samsung should email you with a VIP discount code

  • Isnt it 50% off on all models, plus free care, plus 250 voucher at epp. Atleast for optus emplyees it is, if not for all epp.

    • That would be very nice!

    • The de 50% off is for telco employees only

    • Offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion, including but not limited to the Memory Upgrade Offer and Bonus Trade Value Offer.

  • So using the Corporate Portal your saving $50! Non EPP/Corporate comes to $2047 for the same…..

  • So do we have to be an employee of Samsung in order to avail these discounts?

  • Also price differences on diffferent EPPs. Westpac is different to my work samsung EPP. So shop around

  • how can you get the trade in bonus?

    • Follow the instructions on the page….

If you have an android device, download the Samsung Trade Up app, if iOS, click the relevant link.

  • Consider the office works deal if you are going to get a galaxy watch. $300 bonus trade in, $250 gift card. The $300 is office works only but they sell the galaxy watch 5.

  • With the Samsung direct trade in… How do you actually send in your phone?

I got my new phone already.. No emails or anything about sending the old phone back..

  • OR you could accessorize with the Samsung S23 Ultra BMW M Edition* - Launch Price 1,727,000 won (about $1924 AUS)
    https://my-shop.tworld.co.kr/myshop/product-select?linkChnlS…

    • Customers who pre-order will be able to purchase the 512GB model at a 256GB capacity price.
This event is a Samsung Electronics promotion, and only customers who have made a reservation in advance and completed the opening period of the reservation can receive the benefit.
    • Advance reservation period: February 7 (Tue) ~ February 13 (Mon), 2023 * Reservation opening period: February 14 (Tue) ~ February 17 (Fri), 2023
Purchase is via SK Telecom, so yeah….might not be useful for mostly everyone on this site…

Just fyi. Prices have changed on gov epp since they've introduced x2 memory upgrade and $300 trade in

    • Give me the bad news on a 512 44mm Bluetooth watch and Samsung care + case. Paid $1798 on the normal store last night

      • 512gb S23 ultra is $1949
        Watch 5 44mm Bluetooth - $395

Trade in bonus bumped up to $300
        $250 accessory voucher still there

        • I ended paying $1798.

S23U 512, 44mm BT watch, Samsung care and case ($51).

Including BONUSCARE code, $50 (loyalty, like blood from a stone getting that) and $301 trade on broken S7 :).

I still don't think the Gov EPP price comes out cheaper?

          • @Coops1: Ends up being $1744 now. It was about $100 cheaper yesterday

  • Keep in mind that around 60GB of the storage is unavailable to you and you can't use micro SD card in these…
    https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/02/the-samsung-galaxy-s…

  • I got an email for VIP 10% discount and bonus $300 trade in, etc, etc. But doesn't seem to work. Have chatted to a few of their people who do not know why. I get the $250 evoucher, and 1/2 price bonus care but not the bonus $300 upgrade or 10% VIP that I can see.
Has this happened to anyone else?
They just told me to email the online customer care.

    • I have a 15% VIP, unable to use, likely will be ok after the preorder discounts are gone. I just bought one anyways. I was actually issued 2, a generic one and a specific phone one.

      • If you don't use it could you pm it to me please. Appreciate it thanks

  • I bought the phone anyway.

Is the VIP discount supposed to appear as a separate savings item? It didn't for me, even after I logged into Samsung+ which appeared after I clicked on the link in my email (is Samsung+ the same as VIP?).

After I bought, the chat person asked if I logged into the VIP portal to buy. Not sure how to do that, as all I did was click on the link in my VIP email and all the advertised specials in the email appeared at the top left.

The Samsung chat person says the 10% discount is probably already in the price shown. They were online as I was buying, to make sure it all went through. But I don't know if it applied all discounts as they seemed unsure at first if the 10% applied. It did not list it separately on the invoice.

The $300 trade in bonus appeared after I clicked through. Never used it before so didn't know this. Trade in phone was $15.

Total was $1,538.10 for S23 Ultra 512gb, Watch5 bluetooth 40mm, 24mths Samsung Care+. I used the BONUSCARE voucher that was also emailed to me for free Care+.

Does that price look like the 10% VIP was applied?

    • Looks like 10% well done

      • Thanks. Was a confusing process for me.

    • I thought it was only meant to be a $200 trade in bonus?
      So your discounts were:
      $200 trade + $15 phone value
$250 voucher to use towards watch
      Bonus Samsung care for 24months

Any other discounts.. I don't understand the 10% off thing. Not sure how you got all that for just over $1500.. It's more expensive for me when I do it

  • Which site do we go to, to access the VIP site? I just clicked on the link that took me to a log in screen which I assumed was the VIP site …but it may not have been.

    • Link takes you to the partnership program, you need to log in/link an eligible email account to see the shop. It should say partnership program

  • Anyone receiving trade in instruction (for return label) yet? I've received my new phone for a week and still nothing from Samsung - looks like they do not need the trade in item!

  • Im confused by the 10% VIP component, how do you get access to it exactly - currently have EPP access….trying to determine how to get phone trade in on an old samsung phone - doesnt allow me to input a IMEI manually.
Assuming it will even take it as old :P

  • Still no luck with getting the $50 voucher code after multiple emails and requests. They don't make it easy!

    • I've had an email from them saying that they now don't allow the code to be deducted from galaxy s23.. Only galaxy s22. I'm unsure if they've just told me that to shut me up and get me off their back.. So they never sent one.

    • I was emailed a code a couple of days after emailing them, but it didn't work with the s23u purchase.

  • Does anyone know if there is actually a store pick up option somewhere for Samsung online? Cant find it and the samsung online chat is not helpful. Worried that the post guy would just leave it when no one is home..

    • There are few. I spoke to the guys at Samsung Fountain Gate Vic. They said they can.
