  • seems quite a few people not happy with this insurance company….negative reviews far outweigh the positive. I've never used them, but prob wouldn't now that I have seen the reviews

    • +4

I think that's the norm for all insurance reviews really - rarely people go out of their way to post a positive review. In saying that, I may not go with this mob anyway.

      • SCTI and Fast Cover at least have more positive reviews than negative, but I know, many don't review unless it is a negative experience

        • So in that saying it mean more people had more relative negative experience with this insurance company

      • Not true for travel insurance. 1cover and allianz travel insurance are very high on product review

      • Yes.
        This is so true.
Businesses use bad reviews to aid in improving their business.
But would love good reviews to know what they do is working well.
But Psycologically, people ‘put pen to paper’ more when they’re unhappy with a service.

I recently used World 2 cover for an overseas trip. My experience dealing with them was good, when I requested a claim for an overnight stay at a hospital. I received a reimbursement 4 days after submitting the required documentation, YMMV

    • +2

Have used and claimed with them. Seamless process.

  • With or without code same price for Japan

    • +1

Discount is only applied once you get to the payment page, so i've added that to the post

  • Couldn't see that they cover for personal items such as phone or laptop.
They have cover listed for Luggage, but not sure that is the same. They also have cover for travel documents and cash but no mention of personal electronic devices.
Far and away the most useful cover is loss/theft/damage to phones, smart watches, cameras, etc. whilst overseas, as this is very common.

    • +1

It's in the PDS Page 13

    • You also need to check the applied depreciation rates and maximums.

    • used and claimed with them before.. lost phone was covered

  • +1

Looks like you need to get all the way to the payment page for the discount to appear

    • Good point, added to the post

  • Useless travel insurance. I am better off stick with the credit card complementary insurance. It's 3 times more expensive to cover covid! It's crazy!

    • Just paid $302 for 4 people (2 kids) to uk and Greece for 3.5 weeks, comprehensive insurance including covid cover. You’re not going to find it cheaper than that.

      • +1

You missed two important factors! Excess and ages!

      • Which insurer?

    • Tried this.
For a single person sure.. for a family. Couldn’t find a way to make it work tbh.
      Any thoughts

  • I tried it for domestic travel and it's way too expensive

  • I'm in the market for some travel insurance, but this looks pretty poor value even with 25% off. I wonder if they bumped the price up the code came out? Can't imagine anyone is buying this at full price.

  • to confirm, if I have peanut allergy, is it considered one of the 38 pre-existing conditions?

    I'm confused by the wordings

We automatically cover you for 38 pre-existing medical conditions without going through a medical assessment or being charged, providing:
    the conditions are not associated with any condition you list as a part of the medical assessment process;

    • +1

It's clearly written in the FAQ.

    I'm going Türkiye

    • Daddy chill

    • See you in Mykonos daddy ;)

  • Going to travel to asia with my family soon for 7weeks soon!!

Can anyone help recommend a good travel insurance company. A bit of a noob as first time going to be buying travel insurance.

    • +1

      SCTI

    • +3

Yep I second SCTI (southern cross travel insurance). Family and I were recently in SE Asia and we had to avail SCTI for hospital cover over about 5 days in total. They covered all bills and we weren't out of pocket once. They also gave courtesy and welfare calls from their nurse team on a regular basis.

    • Can't suggest any as still looking myself but i have noticed many have further limited or flat out removed cover for transport provider travel delays since international travel resumed. ie airline moves flight date they wont cover squat i guess.

      • I've taken Fast Cover travel insurance for trip coming up end April…..will see how that goes, but I have never claimed on Travel insurance (either paid or complimentary) so hard to know who is good these days.

        • Yeah its not easy that is for sure. I only stumbled onto this point when i double checked policy details with 2 providers that i had used before only realize their coverage details had changed significantly. For me, it was a given that travel insurance would cover this, but not anymore it seems you need to pay close attention to terms.

FWIW Have used before, made a claim for rental car (value ~$1000) and they paid out eventually. Took a month for what is a fairly straight forward claim.

Using again on a current trip as their PDS wording around pregnancy >24 weeks is a bit more generous than some others I have seen (i.e. not a flat out get lost).

    • With the rental car claim, did you have any insurance with the car rental company?

      • +1

Just the basic Loss Damage Waiver that brought my excess liability to ~$4000. The repair bill was ~$950 so that's what I ended up getting charged.

I haven't seen many travel insurance policies that pay out on damage to uninsured rental cars.

  • Going on a cruise soon, been potting off getting travel insurance, guess I'll give them a go

For anyone that's planning on cruise trip & Google Elderly Couple Cruise Fall you will find an article explaining why they can't claim only after a glass of wine

  • -1

Overseas Travel Insurance is only good for medical claims as they have a clause for everything else in their PDS (Jail Free Card) for them to say gotcha that's not our problem thanks for your money

    • +2

Incorrect. I've had power fluctuations that have caused damage and stolen property (, that was on me) and as long as your scenario fits the policy wording, they pay. Example - left boardshorts in Singapore hotel - tried to claim - denied. Dropped phone in wet in Indonesia and broke Oppo x5 pro screen, paid out for screen replacement which was more than a new phone. Read the PDS in all instances with insurance is my recommendation pre coverage and pre claim

      • +1

Exactly. All insurance is a game of understanding the terms, not assuming what will be covered. Unfortunately, most terms are still very hard to read for most people, so there is constant disappointment.

      • they always get out of jail free card if you left something somewhere even if it was in a confined non public space.

        • You can't ll forget ish and expect them to pay for it. There is a level of responsibility they expect. Forgetting stuff isn't one of them

  • Tick cheaper even with $0 excess.

    • No cruiser cover tho'…

      • +1

        I guess if that's what you need…

    • +2

Better to use "Travel15" for 15% off

  • any one knows if you can claim the pre-departure covid test certificate when coming back into australia?

    • +1

You cannot claim for tests pre departure.

  • For those here looking at travel insurance.
Although this may be known by those who use it often, I was only recently aware of the fact that you are better getting your travel insurance sorted greater than 21 days before your travels.

  • As with whenever I see a post about travel insurance I see a lot of negative reviews.
As I never see any positive it makes me think that it’s due to the fact that people tend to complain more than give positive reviews (if that makes sense):

So.. as I’m in the market for ‘family’ travel insurance soon, I thought I’d look into the reviews on this insurance supplier.

Now.. I’m no expert on review sites, so thought I’d post the 1st page of the <12 month old Google search on reviews of this company, and thought maybe some here could chirp in and let me know if they are legit, decent, etc reviews or not.

Appreciate any (constructive) feedback on these.

    All good reviews:

  • Cheers.
    Just purchased.
The discount meant I was able to reduce the excess to zero.
    Never done that before.

Not sure what, if any, I’ll use it for as from my understandings:
Pattern and son get free hospital care in France, and I just need to skip across to UK (if possible) for free health care also. But might still be better that that.. not sure
My understandings is that if the flights are cancelled, delayed (other than with COVID lockdowns) or they lose our baggage, then the airline are responsible for that. Well… luggage up to $2300. So luckily I don’t check in my expensive electrical items, like laptops.

But… hey.. if I need it, I’ll have it.. so nice peace of mind for <$400 for a month’s travelling abroad for our whole family.

  • +1

Purchased two times with this insurer because i like the $0 excess option.

Both time had a small claim amount <$200 for medical cost and paid out just over a week.

  • Purchased. Seemed like a good price for 21 days. Marginally more expensive than a similar quote with COVID cover, although that had lower inclusions.

  • How does the car rental excess work? Do you need to have car rental insurance to begin with?

  • thanks and bought a policy as well using the code and discount is showing from the initial quote under Standard Price / Your Price(20% off)
    $348.70

  • +1

Seems good but please note, The COVID cover does NOT extend to cruises.

  • Code is not accepted anymore. Expired report
