Not a deal - they always have this promo running on

  • +3

As someone who has purchased their product before I will never buy from them again.

    • Care to share?
Haven't used them myself since their whey isn't grass fed but might consider for other products.

I have never had a preworkout as gross and useless as the one from myprotein. The actually protein itself is meh.

The cookie and instant noodle was a cute gimmick but won’t bother again

I picked up several flavours of WPC on the Black Friday promo and they are all absolutely disgusting. They taste like soap, and if you read reviews a lot of others agree. I’m not sure why it tastes so bad, but it definitely doesn’t taste like the flavour specified. Some have speculated it’s like why coriander tastes so awful to some people, and this uses artificial sweetener that has a similar effect on some palates.

Choc Peanut Butter wins the prize as most vile. Smooth Choc is the runner up.

        • Sounds terrible, I always stick to grass fed unflavoured WPI to minimise fillers, preservative, sweetener, colours, and whatever else they come up with in processed foods. Really it makes the most sense if you are trying to be healthy and supplementing.

        • It's honestly a terrible brand

I've bought a bunch of different products from them and 90% were awful, I think creatine was about the only thing I kept.

The flavour drops taste like they might be poison.

The proteins were nigh inedible, so incredibly painfully artificial to the palate. Though I made the same mistake as you and went for chocolate/peanut flavours.

Seems no place competes when compared to Bulk Nutrients

    https://au.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/creatine-monohydra…
    $39.99 (no coupon)

    https://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/creatine-monohydra…
    $17.00 (no coupon)

    1kg:
    My Protein: $109.99 (no coupon)
    Bulk Nutrients: $44.00 (no coupon)

    • 2kg is WPI is $69 at chemist warehouse at the moment. ~$35 a kilo

      • Not all WPI is equal

        • I get that but care to expand? Is it the taste you don’t like?

          • @Megametro: With only 78% protein (25g protein in a 32g scoop, rest is made up of fillers) it's not the best quality WPI out there. Bulk nutrients and My protein have 90% protein per serving . So purer , better quality, a bit dearer for a reason. But no harm in using this if it works for you

              @enigmaticvip: Fair enough.
My only problem with bulk nutrients (going off on a tangent here) is that they weren’t very ethical when I was buying from them.
About 6 or so years ago, they sold a product called phenibut with was GABA but with an attached phenyl ring to aid passing through the blood brain barrier.
Within expiry, I was getting all these headaches and the tablets had an orange tint to them over time.
I spoke to them and asked if I could send it back so they could investigate and they essentially brushed it off.
The TGA were getting reports of toxicity and other health related reports and changed the designation of the product from a food to a schedule 9 drug (prohibited substance)

Given all the problems I had with this, the TGAs new mandate I spoke to them again as I had ~1/2 a tub left and a health authority deemed it not safe to take. I asked if I could sent it back and have a partial refund.
They essentially told me to fk off

Not defending MP and honestly hate companies that do this but there is no point in comparing 'no coupon' prices for supplement brands. A number of them run 24/7 sales.

MP - Will auto-apply 30-35% off full-price items at checkout. A quick check of google/honey will give you 40-45% off. Plus an additional 6-15% cashback with CRs.

AminoZ - Always has 20%/22%/25% off which is also auto-applied.

Tbf haven't purchased from bulk nutrients but will consider it if they don't have 24/7 coupon bs, especially since ON products are so rarely on sale now.

It really isn't much of a deal if you can get it cheaper at Chemist Warehouse…

  • +2

You signed up just to post this non-deal?
Are you sure you are not associated?

  • 30-35% is the standard discount with Myprotein. If it was a 45-50% discount code (where they didn't inflate the original price) then it would be a deal. I used to buy their Whey isolate but can't afford it anymore even after discount. Bought 5kgs of their Lean Whey (Vanilla) which was a bit cheaper and better profile than their standard protein.

Still one of the best tasting protein out there.

  • What's the difference between their $40 creatine and coles' $22 creatine?

    • +2

Probably none. They are both labelled as creatine monohydrate and neither claims to be micronised.

      MP: $40 * 35% off = $26 - (15% cashback) = $22
      Coles: $22

Coles is just being straight forward with pricing.

  • Don't buy bulk, or get ready to sit on the throne. It gives you stomach ache, you'd lose gym days and the valuable protein

If anyone out there can hear me, please heed my warning. I am trapped in a bottomless hole of meaningless customer service responses from whence neither light nor my refund can escape.

It's too late for me. Save yourself. May god have mercy on you, for customer support will not.

    • Late to the party but can confirm myprotein are beyond hopeless to deal with after they have your money.
