    Your paying for it .

Definitely am! But to be fair this is the first time in 10 years of home loans across 3 banks any of those leeches have ever given me anything other than a headache.

How long have you been with them?

        • @El-Rhi - I've been with HSBC a touch over 12mths. I believe our loan was finalised about mid Jan 2022.

      • Its sad that you can only buy a home these day without a loan. Not many people can buy outright. But if you did you are saving the purchace price of you home over 30 years

        • +2

The first sentence of this comment made no sense. Why is it sad that a home buyer can buy a home without borrowing? Who is sad? Are the banks sad because they didn't get to lend?

          • +1

@alvian: Lol. I meant that its sad that the only way to buy a home is with a loan. If houses were more affordable, life would be more simple, or maybe not

@easternculture: You meant to write: "It's sad that you cannot buy a home these day without a loan", or "It's sad that you can only buy a home these day with a loan".

The Great Australian Dream has for many years become the Great Australian Nightmare. And rental affordability has also plummeted to a very low level.

@easternculture: Still plenty of places you could buy a house without a loan. But they aren't in a CBD.

Going out and living in the country was the best thing I ever did. 3 bed houses within 5 mins of a beach etc are still achievable for around $100k.

We have just become CBD fixated.

This is an automated reward for all their loan borrowers. You get it once at the X mark, and a second time at the X mark for X value.

    • what does X equal?

I'm also with HSBC for a bit over a year, I got a $100 gift card around christmas and another $100 a month later (for my first year home loan) !
I know we pay for it but it still nice

    • Also got nothing, probably 4 years with HSBC, never got anything like this.

Rates i have are negociated regularly so on par with everyone else in the market.

If only they had payid working….

  • I am with HSBC for almost 1.5 years, have 2 home loans, never got anything :-)

    • That can't be right. Did you register your email with them? Reach out to them to investigate. There should be 2 tranches of them I believe, and generally anyone who's a newish loan holder will get them twice. Are your loans in a full offset position?

      • I believe my email is registered as I get all communication there. Both my loans are fixed and no offset at all

    • I also never got anything… I think.
What's the email subject say so I can search it?

      • Subject line is "we want to say thank you"

    • I've been with them a touch over 12mths so far

  • i didnt get one but they recently gave me 3k for not refinancing with a different provider so im not complaining i will be refinancing soon now i got the cashback

    • and how long have you been with them to be offered 3K for not refinancing?

      • i settled this house in Sept 2019 - yes i showed them a few other offers i was considering

i 'will refinance' but i kind of feel i need to wait a least a few more months i got my 3k only a few months ago

        • +1

nah don't feel pressured to stay with them longer after receiving the cashback.

    • Well played! I tried to get them to do this and they said they don't / can't. They called my bluff though lol

  • What can you spend with $150 dollars?

    • Uhhh AA batteries?

    • you can spend $150

    • I can spend it for you

    • bees

2 home loans with them. Got $150 about a month back and the other $150 2 months back. I like free money but will be leaving when my locked rate finishes. Shocking service/practices. During my last refinance with them they transferred the funds to my personal account and only took it out 3 days later when i told them about it

    • I doubt I'll hang around either - happy to keep paying 1.88% for another 12mths though before the reality of 5%+ hits -_-

      • My 1.88% ends in about 6 months, was a lovely ride during all these rises… That 5% is going to be brutal hahah

  • Have a loan with them and got nothing. Bet it's based on amount. Best thing Im doing is bailing. They are beyond painful to work with. Zero customer service.

  • Geez i only got $100, must be the fixed rate loan, still happy as it helps reduce the package fee.

  • I got $100 instead :)

  • Ive had a loan with then for about 2 years now ave haven't received anything ever!

  • I received this gift card in November

I think this gift card emailed after HSBC charged the annual home loan fees

  • Seems like those with fixed rate loans aren't receiving the gift cards and only those on variable does…

    • I've got two loans with them 65% is fixed and the other 35% is variable…

    • i have a variable rate loan and never received this

  • I got one in March 2021. Email subject "We want to say thank you" with an $150 Prezzee gift card. It was a nice surprise at the time, and yes I'm on variable.

Meanwhile, the only email I got from HSBC in the last 24 hours was an advice notification saying they were passing on the full amount of the February RBA cash hike.
