This can be linked to your qantas frequent flyers too, and the precise details of the card are:

Product name: Jetstar Platinum MasterCard®
Minimum credit limit: $8,000
Minimum repayments: 2.50% of the closing balance (rounded up to the nearest dollar) or $50, whichever is greater.
Interest on purchases: 19.99%pa
Interest-free period: Up to 55 days on purchases only, which applies only if your Account is paid in full by the due date each month (including any balance transfers).
Interest on cash advances: 21.74%pa

Annual fee: $149 for the primary cardholder, $39 for each additional cardholder.
Late payment fee: $35 per statement period

So ultimately, its a saving of $210(voucher) - $149(fees) = $61

So may not be a fantastic deal, but one worth mentioning if u use Jetstar alot.

  • if you spend a reasonable amount each month then I think you would be much better off with this one…

    http://www.commbank.com.au/personal/credit-cards/platinum-aw…

esp with the 50 bucks back

After one year with this card (got the 1st year free) we ended up way ahead…. (even after you take off 200 for the annual fee) - so we decided to keep it!

though the card you have posted has some cool features for international travel that the paltinum commonwealth card does not…

    • i'm paying $114 for 2 points per dollar with the gold awards. might do the math tonight and see how 3 PP$ stacks up

      • Gold card gets 2 CBA awards points per dollar, which is 1 QFF point - and that's if you use Amex which is still (annoyingly) not accepted (or at least surcharged) at many merchants in Australia.

  • +3

Annual fee: $149 for the primary cardholder, $39 for each additional cardholder

Could probably buy 4 tickets with that during the sales…

  • This card is actually a great FF deal if you take the Jetstar Dollars. 2% cashback and it is issued as Jetstar vouchers so it can be used for any seat at any time (including on sale) - and I'm 90% sure you can use it to pay the whole balance (unlike Qantas FF where you normlaly pay fees and charges in real dollars)

    • The voucher is treated as real dollar when paying. Some points to note:
No change given, but you can ask for vouchers in $25 denomination before it reaches $200.0
3 months to book and 6 months to fly - need to fly quite frequently
I am in Perth so $200 is only enough to go to Sydney, need to buy another ticket to come back (real dollars)
PS. I started with normal Jetstar CC (only 1% not 2%), they kept asking me to change to Platium with different offers. Finally I agreed when they offered me $49 annual fee for ever and $50 voucher (effectively fee free for the 1st year)

  • Regarding oversea travel insurance - If I pay for the whole fare using CC then I am covered. Does anyone know what happens if I pay part of the fare with Jetstar voucher and the rest with Jetstar CC ?

    • check the PDS

    • I had to claim on travel insurance with my ANZ platinum card this May due to contacting pneumonia in Bali. The basics, to be eligible for coverage are:
Return flight must be within 6 months
Minimum spend for holiday $250 (air/hotel/tours etc combined)
The above requirements must be met PRIOR to departing Oz.
IMO, I do not believe the voucher would be acceptable as part of the payment to make up the minimum $250.
In relation to this posting, I reckon the only way I'd be taking out, yet another card, would be to have definite travel plans, take on the card, book a flight and use the voucher, then cancel and scrap the card.
