As suggested, both were cheaper yesterday at Amazon.
Perhaps it might be worth waiting to see if they come back in stock.

Couple more months fold 5. These will go down

    • If the Fold 5 has the S23 ultra cameras 😍

      • May be in F6

    • Might be a Google Fold this year too. Extra competition and price pressure

IMO, playing the HODL game for flagship phones often leads to a stock supply risk. I feel like retailers cut to these kind of prices to clear stock, and waiting for another 5-10% off usually means missing out and only having the next (still expensive) model to choose from, or having to go reseller market for that cleared model. If it's a need (or strong want), I'd go in at this discount.

The chip shortage is over. Plenty of supply to go around.

        • My macroeconomic knowledge is pretty novice and I'm not a supply chain expert, so other OzBargainer's might have better insight into this than me.

I observed this HODL vs. stock clearance effect pre-COVID when I was doing my own personal phone upgrades. I don't feel like we're gonna get a bullwhip effect from returning to pre-pandemic levels (or higher) of semiconductor production. I think in the first instance there is enough extant demand and then plenty of room for growth on electronics that most of the inflated pricing will be preserved. Then I feel like retailers like JB here, at the very least if not controlled further up the supply chain, are smart enough to run a release cycle for flagship phones where they distribute and order fairly evenly to match demand so they can keep to most of their RRPs and profit margins and then only strategically clear their limited stock with more decent discounts like this before the models get too old compared to newer releases.

        • Agree. Just look at the SSDs also. Sub $300 easy now for 980 pro etc

      • Using my fold 3 256gb since a year
and half now. Bought it for $1300.
Wanted to buy fold 4 but the trade in price for fold 3 is just rubbish.

    I won't buy until 999🤪🤪🤪🤪

  • I miss the mimax 3 days. Best I can find is the vivo x note. Bloody folding phones taking over the world. First world problems.

  • These are decent prices (IMO) for flagship Samsung phones.

I didn't get my Note10+ for too much less than this, albeit much closer to it's release date, and that took a lucky PM sitch..

I'd buy this as an iterative upgrade, since I'm carrying a phone with a bit of age on it now. I just don't think I trust the fold design just yet, especially if compared to how refined the Note series is.

I feel like a Fold vs. Note is potentially a compromise:
    a) IP rating
    b) durability
    c) hinge/fold affecting contour of the screen
    d) marginally smaller battery capacity, with higher draw and lower charge life
    e) camera not at the same top premium level
    f) lower PPIs

Aside from form factor, can ppl give some feedback on whether they'd recommend going from a traditional Note to a Fold?

Fold is beyond awesome. S23 is just another slab with better battery.

  • Google fold

Why not HODL for longer at this stage

still waiting for a better screen for foldable phones

    • I heard the screen has its plastic protector bubble up after a while.
