2008 Trend Micro Internet Security Suite (Free License for 3 years)

There are 3 versions available: the 2008, 2007, and 2006 version of Trend Micro Internet Security Suite (AKA PC-Cillin)
Copy and paste the license key during installation:
PFEP-9991-7436-4997-1545 (for the 2008 edition)
POEP-9993-0619-6897-3543 (2007)
PKEP-9995-4598-8905-9555 (2006)
Just tried the 2008 edition and it works.
Technically, it’s for HTC Internet customers only.
“Can my friends also get Trend Micro™ PC-cillin™ Internet Security?
Yes, if they also have HTC Internet Service, they can be protected for FREE. If they are not an HTC Internet Service customer they can purchase PC-cillin™ Internet Security for $49.95/year from an authorized reseller.”
Free software is always good. However I think this one counts as piracy. The ISP has obviously paid Trend a license fee to supply their software to their customers. Using it when youre not a HTC customer is illegal.
Don’t think there is a catch :). It says it’s for HTC users, but unless Trend Micro is doing some kind of IP filtering for their ISP, it should work for all users.
Tried it yesterday, and it worked, no problems at all. But I uninstalled today it because I prefer to use Avast (more lightweight)
BTW, how do you make the picture link to point to the website? When I submitted the deal, I saw an option to post the URL to the deal, but without the pictures. The second option was to host a picture, but the uploader didn’t ask me for an URL. How do you get both?
Sorry I’m kinda new here :(
There is a 2009 version out. That’s probably why they are doing the 2008/07/06 versions for free.
A warning worth noting and passing on

I checked this with Trend Micro and found out that it was only licenced for HTC customers. So use by anyone else is piracy. SCC has locked out the page now and they’re planning on cancelling the serials - so I wouldn’t bother using them since you’ll only get a few days out of them.
I bought the 2009 Pro version from Officeworks yesterday. It’s about twice as fast as the 2008 version and they’ve also got 60 GB of online backup with it now. Trend is also giving away plasma TVs to buyers at the moment - one a day until after Christmas - http://shop.trendmicro.com.au/

Great find!
This sounds too good to be true.
What’s the deal?
Are there any PC-Cillin users out there that can report on the software’s efficacy v overhead for WinXP (Home/Pro) / Vista (Home).
Cheers,
Live Long and Prosper.
