    Docs went bust and the brand name bought up by an inferior manufacturer based in thailand.

    I believe the old tooling and facilities now produce Solovair which is the quality alternative to Docs.

      Dr Martens claims that nothing has changed in their manufacturing processes. They're still goodyear welted, use wholegrain leather etc. I'm sure you could argue that they can't compete with other $300+ shoes, but they're great value at sub ~$120. Look at the competition… hush puppies? rivers? kmart shoes? c'mon, none of them even use wholegrain leather, much less goodyear welted construction. i've had hush puppies' sole fall off with sub 1 year usage.

      and for what it's worth, my current doc martens are 2.5 years old and running strong. Sole is good, absolutely not even a nick/scratch on the leather, perfectly fine to use. I got 'em from Kogan on sale for $65 odd.

      Anyway, i didn't purchase the shoes posted by OP, but have ordered the sandals, which are also $99 atm. Needed some sandals :>

  I couldn't see anything that says if this is mens, women or unisex sizing and when I did a search of mens and then womens these didnt come up so not sure how to size?

    They're unisex, but when you're picking sizes you can choose between UK/US Mens/US Womens on the right hand side.
