I got one of these when they went crazy cheap last year, and needed another one as a game drive. Decent price, although with the recent drop in SSD pricing, I was hoping to get a better deal. Still, might be useful for someone.

Umart is selling the M.2 variant for $74 + postage. I needed SATA though, so I went with that one.

As an alternate, Crucial BX500 1 TB is for $79 delivered, fulfilled by Amazon, or slightly cheaper if you buy from a third party seller.

Edit: Slightly cheaper here - I couldn't figure out the difference between the two listings :D

"…As an alternate, Crucial BX500 1 TB is for $79 delivered, fulfilled by Amazon(amazon.com.au), or slightly cheaper if you buy from a third party seller…".

    Buy the BX500.

    • I had a BX500 go bad after 3 years of usage, and RMA was a pain. That's the only SSD that I've seen go bad over my last 8-10 years of usage. Normally I would recommend Crucial over SP in a heartbeat, but I'm skeptical about the BX series now.

  • For those who have fitted PS4 with SSD, is there a big performance difference?

      Lol too obvious!

    • I have the same question. Videos online seem to show different kinds of improvement on loading times for different games. In some cases you save 3 second, in other longer loading games, your save 30. It's not a big improvement as apparently the ps4 can't fully use the ssd speeds (happy to be corrected) but still better than normal Hdd.

      • Yeah the PS4 is only SATA 2, fed over USB 3 internally. There is some advantage, undoubtedly, but not as significant as with a computer w/ SATA 3.

I can vouch that there is a huge difference.

Games tested: Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West, and Stray. Load times at least half of what they were, especially noticeable with fast travelling - load ins were quick and there was even a difference in long distance asset loading

    • I read somewhere the SATA port was just a glorified USB 3.0 adapter internally on the PS4 motherboard, so you can't capitalise on higher transfer speeds. I did try an SSD a while back but there wasn't a noticeable difference.

      Get the mx500 with DRAM.

It's been great on my PS4 pro which I use exclusively for PSVR1.

    • Dependent on games.
The difference was noticeable, in initial load times, "big" is subjective.
It's the random reads\writes that benefit the most, you won't really see an increase in throughput.
Consider trading in the PS4 and put the $100 towards a PS5.

I only just brought the PS4 pro for $200…
        though I did sell PS5s for $900.

    • Monster Hunter World was the biggest difference for me, cut down loading times to a 3rd (and that game requires lots of loading). Other games maybe 20% faster.

  • dramless?

  • These are good drives , I've used the 128bg a lot for rebuilding refurbished laptops to oldies . Bought a few from Amazon. Can recommend for basic use. Not gaming powerhouses of course at this price and obviously non m.2

These are terrible. have had 2 x 1TB and they become disgusting after filling it about half full… I'm talking less speed than a spinning disc. Forget about RMA and Support.

      • I shyte. my experience has been the opposite but have not had the 1TB just the smaller drives . So that's not good to hear

      • Weird. I've been using them on and off for years as part of ZFS arrays and for generic desktop use, alongside other brands.
Never had an issue with them.

      • I had a similar issue, around half full as well. Same with one of their M.2 SSDs.
