Thank you to whoever updated the listing.

Are these refurbished with a new battery?

  • +3

    Might go for these,

Left my refurbished pair on the plane a month ago.
    FML
    Would happily buy again.

    • Do you use them to listen to the inflight entertainment? If so how?
      Thanx

      • +1

There's headphone jack to Bluetooth units.

Qantas no longer has IFE in most of their flights, just need to bring a tablet/phone to use their app. I think virgin is the same.

        • I'm doing a long haul flight 14.5 hours in pretty sure it has it if not I hope they supply one

          • @schwifty: International is a different kettle of fish, yep they've retained it for those.

  • Sony $20 price increase, they were $189 before Feb'23 :/

Yup, I got it for about 147$

  • +1

Think I paid $160 for my refurbs last year.

    • Did they come in an OEM box with all accessories? Or was it just the earbuds in the case?

Im just a bit worried about how well they clean them before reselling.

      • pretty much

  • -6

Does it come with any previous owner's ear gunk…?

  • refurb as in some one worn it before or like damaged ones?

    • Most likely returns

  • Is this one any good over Anker's Soundcore A40?

    • is this a real question? 😳

  • Thanks OP - grabbed on as my 2yo refurbished wf1000xm3 batteries just died on me.

  • How would these compare in real life to a set of apple ones? Both standard and pros

    • +1

There are plenty of comparisons in google/YouTube.

    • Significantly better. Surprised this is a question.

  • +4

anyone missing a right earphone and want to go halves on a silver pair? I only need a left nut.

  • -2

These are to big and are only for home use. Unless you have ears like king Charles these will extrude your ear by 1cm.

    • +2

I can confirm that they work perfectly fine in all sorts of outdoor settings

    • I sleep in these things, and I sleep on my side!

  • damn if only they had the white ones.

  • +4

I purchased two weeks ago. The outer package was a little dirty, but they were still sealed and new inside. wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

    • I also got these two weeks ago for $169.
Mine was sealed with a "Seconds" label across the box, was you're like that too?

  • +1

    Purchased these refurbed in January.
Boxed had been opened, but everything looked unused.
    Great so far.

I bought these new from Officeworks for about $270. The stock ear tips didn't work for me. The sound was very tinny and seemed like coming from far. Bought Sony hybrid ear tips but still not good. Bought Spinfit CP360 and the sound is much better but no noise cancellation. Using the Sony connect app and selected noise cancelling mode and sound is reasonable but if I turn noise cancellation off or select the ambient mode there's very little bass. Contacted Sony support and they were very uncooperative and refused to send me replacement silicone ear tips. Overall I am very disappointed with these earphones coming from Bose soundsports.

    • I heard Bose had superior comfort, especially in their QC model. Must be harder to downgrade if you've tried them before.

  • +1

Refurb as in used? Don't want someone's earwax

    • +13

Same. I actually bring my own utensils to restaurants.

    • Most likely returns yes

  • Bought these last time. Mixed feelings…..sound quality is great but the noise cancelling is nowhere near what I expected. Can still hear a lot of random noise like cars driving past, and yes I checked ANC is on. Not sure if my pair is faulty or that is just how they are? Also they are not great when it's windy. The ANC seems to make wind noise worse. I find the wind noise is less if I turn ANC off. Again not sure if my pair is faulty?

    • tried changing the size of the foam tips?

      • No but the medium size that came pre-fitted seem to fit well. I even did the fitment guide on the app and it confirmed I am getting a good seal.

    • Yours have to be fautly? I was very surprised when I couldn't hear passing trains sitting on the platform..

      • Is that with the music playing really loud or just medium level? What about when the music is turned down low?

        • Really loud? These only go up to medium. Lol

          • @Jugganautx: Really, I find them to be quite loud, I only have them at 50% and that's enough for me.

      • Yea like maxed out.

        • With volume maxed, you would not be able to hear a train going past even with non-ANC earbuds, so that doesn't really count. I bought these so I could enjoy music at moderate sound level without having outside noise spoil the experience, and for me, these fall well below expectation in that regard. They only slightly muffle outside noises.

I have these and Bose QuietComfort 1 and I prefer the Bose. Sound quality is better on the Bose (until you equalize the Sony, then I'd say they're slightly better), and the noise cancelling blows away the Sony. Also, Bose are way more comfortable. I would only say the Sony look better and have a smaller case.

    • +1

The noise cancelling is ok not great. Bose we earbuds (I had v1) were far better for that but sound is better on these - more detailed that’s for sure.

I’d probably buy qc2 next if I lost my xm4, unless there was a newer Sony model with better anc.

Not sure why reviews said that this competes with Bose anc, my take is definitely different.

    • No they're not faulty. Noise cancelling isn't the same as over ear headphones…Def would buy XM5s or XM4s over these if noise cancelling is something on the top of you rlist.

      • Agree, I prefer over ears for serious listening, but I got these for when I go for long walks or runs, as I get too hot and sweaty with over ears.

Another thing I found with these is when running and the ANC is on, they make really loud thumps every time my foot strikes the ground. I have to turn ANC off, then it's ok. I feel like these are a beta product, not quite ready for market. Not sure why all the reviews are so glowing. THe sound quality is the only good thing about them.

Honestly, even the sound quality is only slightly better than my $30 QCY T13's, and I prefer the QCY's for everything else: comfort, battery life, touch control layout.

        • Definitely not the same for me with regards to your ANC complaints - unsure if you got a faulty version or maybe just have higher standards than me. I can still hear trains and cars, but only to a minor extent (and I listen to music extremely quietly). The footfall thing I've never noticed, but I'll be on the lookout (I don't usually run with these, because for me the fit is awful and running would make one fall out almost consistently).

    • These have some of the very best noise cancelling out there. It's not pure magic of course, your expectations might be too high if you haven't tried other competitors.

Your pair may be faulty especially with the wind aspect, that's not normal. Fiddle with the settings in the app, try all included ear tips, and rma if no change.

Don't waste your time. Too big and sound only just better than a jbl.

    • Yes these are a little big. But the sound is good.

  • yuk, ear wax residue

  • Still waiting for my XM3 to be finish its life

    • Easy to replace battery on xm3

      • The problem is that XM3 is kinda loose compared to others?

  • FYI do get the monthly ebay plus plan which costs $4.99 so you can save the extra $10.

  • My wf-1000m3 are having problems now. Where it seems to not turn off even in the case. Hold on to Bluetooth signals. I can't even reset them/factory reset them..

Heard M4 also suffer from the same issue.

I don't know if I wanna go with Sony anymore.

  • Love all the “reviewers” who hype at launch but then disappear later when everyone is bitching about a oroduct

How many of these must I buy to collect enough earwax to make a birthday candle?

  • If you could spend $30-40 extra and get new like I did, it's well worth it. You can occasionally get them with discounted GC all in for $220-240.

  • +1

I got these two weeks ago for $169. I upgraded from Samsung buds and QC25s.
The sound is amazing, cannot be any better. The only issue I found at the start was fitment. First time using form tips so I wasn't sure how these are meant to fit as they sell compress to similar size unlike the silicon tips. Also the little bone thing on my outer ear hurts. I eventually learnt that I have to use different sized tips for each ear, one medium and the other large. Starting to get more comfortable and used it them now so the experience has improved. In hindsight I wonder if I'd be more comfortable with the Linkbuds S.

I recommend googling some EQs to find a good custom one.

  • i'm still on the fence on these, compare to Bose Sport earphones which one bigger?
