Shirts or Polos $49.95 Each + $19.95 Delivery @ Charles Tyrwhitt

950
BRADLEY

With tyrannical employers requiring staff to actually attend the office, the need for business attire is on the rise again.

Sadly, the days of $33 shirts and free delivery are long gone. There seem to be fewer and fewer CT deals these days, and true Ozbargainers don't pay the regular price of $119 each, or even a $69.75 multibuy. HAH!

Shirts or Polos $49.95 each + $19.95 delivery, no minimum quantity or multiples to worry about. Buy one, or buy several!

Just the thing to show off your exquisite sense of Ozbargain style (paired with your Macpac Halo jacket) as you confidently march into your bosses office, look them dead in the eye, and tell them where to stick their office attendance mandate!

Then once home, immediately box up the shirts and return them for a refund, cause that's the true OZB way*.

*Subject to return policy.

Still holding out hope that 3 for $99 delivered will return one day, but thanks OP :)

    • +1

Was just about to say that. I think those good old days of CT are gone for good.

      • If they can sell the same amount of shirts @$49 + shipping, then the old days are gone. I won't buy at the new prices, to push for the old deals to come back. I still have a couple of brand new shirts from the old times.

    • +1

      Me too.

    • +1

same, but why are they gone? Inflation?

Haven't bought business shirts since late 2019, my current CT batch is still going strong :D

      • I'm guessing they were loss leaders to build brand and loyalty

        • +2

If only they would stop posting me a physical catalogue every month, they could save themselves a fortune.

  • +11

I would have thought they would be having good sales given the lower volume they must be facing. I used to get a few shirts a year but haven't for 3 years now.
I wear a hoodie to the office now!

    • +5

      Gangsta

    • +7

I thought this too, but I reckon plenty of people are buying some new shirts because they are a bit fatter, and others catching up on delayed fashion spending.
In a year or two I think it will be back to discounts to shift more volumes.

      • +8

I am in this comment and I feel attacked.

Jokes aside, I got fatter during covid and had to rebuy all my shirts/suits to a more 'suitable size'.

        • +1

          The struggle is real! Hahaha

  • +3

At this price and factoring delivery, I'd prefer to buy from myer etc, or locally, even for a small amount more.

    • +23

CT shirts are way better than comparable myer crap..

      • Agreed. I bought 5 shirts about a year ago for work and none of them have lost their shapes from regular wear

      • and the sizing options are perfect. The fact that you can get alternative arm lengths at no extra costs is a huge plus

  • I've been looking at CT business shirts and polo for the past few weeks and it didn't go below $49.95 :(
Can anybody share their experience with sizing?

    • CT tend to run slightly big on shirts

    • +5

CT's sizing guide is pretty detailed
Get someone to measure you, it's very easy to mess up self measurements. Look up some youtube videos on tailoring clothes/measurements if the CT website isn't clear on how to measure a given dimension.
Pick a fit which closest matches your sizes, and don't go under the maximum sizes in any dimension. Don't get an extra slim if the slim matches your numbers the best and don't get a slim fit if the classic fit is the best for your sizes.

    • +1

You've got 6 months to return, so first time it can be a good idea to get 3 shirts, one each size around the one you think. Once you have your sizing, they're consistent.

At least this is how it was done pre-COVID. Like most I haven't bought shirts in years!

  • +5

this is normal price IMO. but excellent quality stuff.

  • +3

Thanks but still holding out for the 3 for $99

  • +11

You can get free shipping if you buy 4 shirts with this link. (paste in incognito mode)

Just got 4 shirts thanks OP

    • Is that only for those shirts only? I cant seem to get free shipping to work otherwise

  • +7

The write up gets my vote

  • +2

How do you get the deal?
Lowest priced polo is $99 and the code says it can't be applied…

    • +3

Same for me-‘ code doesn’t seem to work

  • +1

I just buy the biggest neck size (collar fits me) and then get it tailored locally to fit body/sleaves. Extra $20, excellent. Arrives Sumo size, cut back to not so squeazy.

    • +5

Where do you live that has a tailor for $20? What year is it there?

      • +3

He accepts hay for making thread.

        • What about churned butter?

      • Tailored Shirts in Bangkok aren't even cheap anymore, something pretty standard is at least $50 lol. would still recommend that over of the shelf jobbies. Used to get CT years ago with their much better promos (and there was even a store in Brisbane).

That shipping costs is outrageous, you may as well get CK shirts from the outlet stores or Rodd & Gunn

  • Shipping times were 3 weeks on my last order in January.

Their support never answered my ticket.

    Imo they've gone downhill.

  • -5

    $20 delivery is just insane.

    • +4

      From the UK… right…

  • Needed and update so this was a goer! But i love the $35 ea days… but fear they are long gone

  • +2

Is the quality of this brand any good.. never heard of them

    • +5

      1) Yes.

      2) You joined ozbargain in 2022.

    • 5 of my shirts i bought a year ago still havent lost its priginal shape yet after regular wear

  • +3

I will only buy 3 for 99 and I will buy 9 shirts

  • +2

I have been recently wondering what happened to all the shirt deals. 10 years ago there was The Men's Shop, then CT, then TM Lewin. Unlike, say, cheap KMart shirts, the Charles Tyrwhitt ones often had interesting weaves. Unlike many American brands they didn't have vanity sizing.

    • Demand dropped massively
      Inflation impacts

      Etc.

    • +2

Probably too many 3-for $99 deals.

TM Lewin went bust in 2020 and closed all of their physical stores, then whilst operating online only called in administrators again last year.
Imo TM Lewin was the most comparable competition to CT - them going under was likely a decent warning/removal of major competition.

      • wow, I didn't know that happened.
        Their shirts were really good.
        Tis is a shame.

  • This or Uniqlo polos ? I'm a slim fit and tend to find the Uniqlo polos to be slightly too big around the waist area, quality is good though.

  • Now that the prices have gone up, are these still the best option compared to what's available locally.

I've only used CT because of the interesting weaves, quality size/fit.

I've tried TM Lewin but thought the quality wasn't as good.

    • How do they compare to Oxford? Oxford often (i.e. always) have sales on their shirts, e.g. 3 for $129. I buy them because I can try them on in the store.

      • +2

Oxford would be second rate compared to TW & CT

      • Oxford is extremely poor quality that is dressed up as boutique. Avoid.

  • +1

Offer code "BRADLEY" can't be added to your bag

    Dead?

    • Just gave it a test and seems to be working for me. Are you sure you don’t have the ad cookie for shirts at $49.95 already? That prevents the coupon if you do (but pricing is the same anyway).

Give it a go in a private browser window?

      • Weird. It works today.
I tried incognito yesterday and everything was 99.95 or 109.95 with voucher code unable to be added.
Today everything is 89.95 and voucher takes it to 49.95.
Feel like I'm crazy, but I tested like 10 times. Haha.

      • Just tried incognito and it worked. I signed up to the newsletter (10% off) last time - the prices actually looked higher than this incognito sesh. I wonder if they jack up the prices if you sign up to the newsletter and that cookie fudged it up. Thanks for the tip.

  • I'd just get MJ Bale on sale Myer + cashback - they are a better cut. Probably more casual than flat out business shirts but the problem i found with CT is they got stuff all taper and just flat down from the armpits.

  • Nice but I'm good for few years after splurging during the good deals of the past. Just need to lose few kilos after covid so they won't feel that tight lol

  • Can anyone comment on the size comparison with T M Lewin?
I’m quite skinny and TM’s super slim are a good fit. Is CT’s super slim comparable?

    • +1

I've got T.M Lewin shirts and can make that comparison. From least fitted to most fitted (largest to smallest chest/waist fit):

TM Fitted > CT Extra Slim > TM Super Fitted

I don't believe there's a 'super slim' size for either brands. The slim for TM is larger than fitted

      • Thank you. It’s been a while since I shopped at T M so must have been the super fitted then. Is there much difference between CT extra slim and T M super fitted?

        • +1

I just noticed in the sizing chart there is a super slim for CT https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/au/szg-formal-shirts-1-2021.…
If you compare it with the TM sizing chart the CT super slim is nearly identical to the TM super fitted. But it doesn't look like you can order any CT shirts in that size anymore.

If you're looking at buying the CT Extra Slim it will be a looser fit to what you're used to (around 3-4cm wider). Perhaps try going a size down.

The CT Extra Slim is definitely looser than the TM Super Fitted (the way I know is the TM Super Fitted doesn't fit me whereas the same sized CT Extra Slim is a perfect fit)

          • @Avo: Thanks heaps! May stick with TM then.

            • @Ryder08: TM don't ship internationally since they went into adminstration last year :/

          • @Avo: The CT Super Slim Fit has been discontinued - this is an old size chart from 2021. The slimmest cut is now the Extra Slim, and its a damn shame, the super slims were perfect for me

With tyrannical employers requiring staff to actually attend the office

Don't ever let anyone tell you you are the entitled generation. Being asked to go into work is the equivalent of genocide…

    • +2

Here i was thinking hitler was bad but apparently my boss is right up there.

Imma hit up the UN and report him. Making us turn up 2 times a week to the office. Here's hoping the UN throws the book this tyrant.

  • Anyone jacked wear these shirts? I can't find a nice fitted shirt anywhere without feeling like I can't move (..causing all kinds of aches and pains in the office)

Maybe I shouldn't opt for slim fit.. but regular fits just look like I'm wearing a sack. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

    • If you're V shaped it's unlikely any shirt off the rack/production line will fit, you'd have to take the waist in which isn't a hard task. You'd just measure out your chest and find a suitable shirt size (slim fitted should be fine) then take the waist in.

      • Cheers. Yeah I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend extra getting them tailored but I think it's a small price to pay for some comfort

Once heard about these guys for V shaped shirts, no person experience with them though.

          • +1

@Cyan9: Cheers, bit pricey but I'll definitely look into them further. They look so tight on those guys, unless they're some soft stretchy material I can't imagine they would be comfortable sitting at a desk lol

    • I can't find a nice fitted shirt anywhere… Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

Unless you have a body shaped like a sausage roll it will be very rare to find a fitted shirt off the rack that follows your individual body shape. You might get lucky and find a brand that uses a size-fit model with the exact same body shape as you but highly unlikely. This means that if you want the expensive fitted look you're going to have to shell out for a tailor.

  • If they make me look like the daddy in the pics, then I'll buy a thousand please.

  • Given it a crack for some polos for work. I straddle the M L line, so got a couple of each and some chinos to see.

  • I used to buy T.M Lewin or these CT shirts for years, could never really tell much difference between the two, but they were by far the best value.

Sad to see the days of $33 shirts seem long gone though, this is indicative of yet another vendor taking the piss with return to work price gouging.

Might be time to look around for another vendor by the sounds of these prices. Can't imagine cotton prices have changed that much, maybe order from overseas.

    • +1

Cotton prices up 30-40% over pre-pandemic levels.. wages gone up.. shipping costs gone up..

      • +1

wages barely gone up… factoring in the CPI increase, I'd say that most people's wages gone down….

        • You are talking about real wage growth.. I am talking about wage growth from the time the shirts were at $33.. people are anchored to $33 price tag but all inputs that go into making the shirt gone up..

  • $50 for a polo.

    Must be pretty good quality.

  • From a material thickness point of view, how do these compare to Rhodes and Beckett from a few years ago?

I've always been a big fan of the R&B as the shirts aren't transparent when wearing lighter colours.

Can anyone also comment on how similar their cuts our. I wear R&B slim fit.

  • Has anyone bought a suit from CT before?

I’ve been wearing these shirts for around 9-10 years and they have always held up well. Would be great if the suits were the same.

    • Have two suits from CT and they're excellent. Have had one for 10 years and it still looks as good as the day I bought it, wear it once every two weeks or so

      • Any alternatives to dry cleaning? Quite expensive in Sydney to dry clean these days..

  • +1

I ordered 4 shirts and got free shipping for some reason, not sure what's changed but I like it!

    • +1

They usually do free shipping on $199 spend.

I just bought 4 shirts too

      • Ah cool, glad I got 4 then :D
