Anyone Still Using Hotmail/Live? Do You Get A Lot of Spam Email?

just curious if there are still any outlook/Hotmail/ live users?

i get crazy amount of spam/phishing emails that get through.

it says sender is [email protected] or ikea family, etc. i tried everything and even added those email to block sender, block email in Outlook settings. however, some are still getting through.

i have Gmail account and they hardly ever gets any spam/phishing emails in inbox.

thinking to abandon ship and switch to Gmail completely. i was curious if there are still any hotmail users there any if they have same spam problem in their inbox

    I still use the hotmail account I created 20+ years ago as a teenager. Sometimes it sends important stuff to the junk folder and puts phishing emails in the focused mailbox.

    Get your sh** together, hotmail!

    • Given the era of its creation is your email somehuman_69_TheRockis@hotmail? ;-)

  • I've seen Hotmail/Outlook accounts that only get a couple spam emails a month and other Hotmail/Outlook accounts that get 15 a day.

  • I've been working over the last 12 month's to get rid of my 20+ year hotmail.,my hotmail is 90% spam and junk

  • lol. ok so it's a common problem. looks time time to abandon completely :)

  • still have one but rarely use it….
    I find gmail has a pretty good spam filter on my account i use to register for competitions on here.. it only gets 150 odd spam a week in teh spam folder

  • My account seems fine. I have a really good email address though, imho, back in the day when MSN Messenger was around. My hotmail domain is @msn.com, so I am keeping it until it gets deprecated or something. :) These days I mostly get emails from Microsoft, ie. "Microsoft Bing" or "Best of MSN Australia".

  • yes and yes, i get nothing but penis pill promos, nortan and mcaffee renewals, crypto spam, and endless realestate spam

  • I've flagged and blocked JD Sports on all my email acs but they keep on generating new emails to spam with . I can't stop them . They did a bait ad on OZbargain a couple years ago and I'm stuck with them .

    I get junk mail/spam on every single email address I have, even work email…it's a certainty of life. Death, taxes and spam.

    Yes and yes. Although, 90% of it gets caught in the spam filter, so it’s not too bad.

    • custom filters ? share your rules.

  • I've been having spam slip through recently.
    Mostly, unclaimed prizes for contests I didn't enter though there was a Apple phishing one too.
    Usually the spam filter gets it

  • My mothers is the exact same, i wish she would ditch it for Gmail.
    It's insane that hotmail still exists while letting so much harmful crap through, I have never seen a dodgy email on my Gmail ever other than the junk folder.

    link it with your Gmail and Gmail will filter the spam instead

  • I still have a Hotmail account, that I use for less important stuff and until recently it was fine.
    But from about a month ago, its now flooded (20+ a day) with Italian spam.
    This all ends up in the Spam folder, but has the effect of crowding out the occasional "real" email that ends up in the Spam folder.
    I tried to set up some rules to automatically delete them on arrival, but Hotmail rules don't get applied to items in the Spam folder.
    Its a problem I still have to solve :-(

  • I have two emails my old Hotmail one I use for free stuff and a Gmail use for the important stuff works well. But yes my hotmail one is full of spam

  • My 1998 hotmail account is still my daily .

    Did take a break from it between 2002 -2004 and switched to Lycos.

  • Yes old one. Spam gets filtered out automatically.

  • I have had my Hotmail for ~20 or more years, only check it very rarely over last 10 years.
    ~~~~10 years ago, I was getting tons of spam.
    Recent years much less.
    Outlook (live) has been my primary email for 5 odd years, and I get very little spam any time.
    Most spam between the 2 go to junk/spam automatically.
    I should add, I rarely sign up to anything, and where I have to and it's not important I use a fake random email.
  • This post made me look back at some of my earliest emails, and there were some corkers there (before it became a spam pit). Thanks for that. Haha.
