  • Is there pixel experience for this? If not, i wouldn't recommend it

    • to my negger:
miui has a bug with telstra that makes telstra data unusable. this also applies to resellers like boost. the only solution i found was to flash another rom on it

      • +1

is this for real? So no Xiaomi phone can be used with Telstra resellers? I tried googling and couldnt find ANY information about this, this sounds like it should be a major red flag. The most i could find is a few people who had problems with MMS (which were then resolved with APN setting update). Which MIUI is this, is there anywhere that has more detail on this matter? My wife is using an old Redmi Note on Boost and it works perfectly so i would like some more info on this?

        • no idea what causes it and how many people it affected. i have a poco f1. changed to boost and had issues. telstra told me it's not a problem on their end. also had issues with only certain apps. i suspect it's some blocked IPs or something. my hypothesis was that the problem lies somewhere within miui, so i changed roms and voila. anyway id highly, highly recommend upgrading to pixel experience if it's available for you anyway. everything is faster, battery life is better, and no bloatware

          • @belongsinforums: I have a Mi 9 and it has never had any issues with Telstra.

            • @ph81: Mi phones are different to poco phones. default poco roms probably has modem configuration bands tweaked for the indian market which is incompatible with the bands Telstra uses.

There is no issue at all with data etc everything is working fine as it should be even 5G. Currently using Xiaomi Phone. Only WiFi calling or VoWIFI doesn't work on Telstra network but it works on everything else i.e. Optus/Vodafone network.

        • VoLTE support is an issue with some imports, How does that work across the networks?

          • @Stingo: My phone started working after updating to MIUI 14(Android 13) before the update only on Telstra and it's MNVO's VoLTE & VoWIFI was not working but VoLTE is working all the networks. On Telstra network VoWIFI is not working.

I think that you're telling nonsense.

      • Redmi 9T here with Boost Mobile, no problem.

    • Mediatek processor so highly highly doubt it. Only very few (2-3) Mediatek processor have unofficial ROMs.

    Hi

Will you be selling the 13 pro?

Damn, no NFC - Deal breaker

  • Cheap phone but 4GB RAM sounds like it'll be sluggish.

    • +1

That would depend on the specific applications you run or web pages you visit. The processor is a slow one though but sadly this is typical these days for phones in this price range. Damn chip shortage. Amusingly the G in the processor name means that it is part of Mediatek's gaming series but thankfully the seller doesn't claim this phone is suitable for gaming as any serious gamer would be disappointed. Personally, I have my doubts how well web surfing would work give how complex some web pages are these days. I'd be checking new old stock in supermarkets. You might come across something decent for less from earlier years on clearance pricing but those would have their days of update numbered and and anything carrier locked won't be dual SIM at least out of the box. The Optus X Swift 5G on special this week at Woolies for $99 likely has better performance and supports 5G and NFC with the downsides of less storage and missing some bands used by Telstra and Vodafone (and probably 5G bands that Optus will use or is using now.) and no dual SIM. Fine if you plan to stick with Optus.

      • Has anyone used the Optus X Swift 5g and can comment on it's performance?

  • Official Xiaomi store only selling just the 1 model phone?

I have this phone, it is better than what I expected in this price range, great for general browsing.

    • what about games like pokemon go and pikmin bloom? i would be using it for that, not CoD or something intense, but the benchmarking i have seen suggests it is really poor indeed ?

I'd pay the extra $60 bucks of so and get he Poco M5 REF: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736011

      Motorola g82 for $200

      • Where?

        • Gotta pray for the next price error unfortunately. When it happens i will be sure to grab another.

        • +1

Nowhere. Anytime any phone deal is ever posted on this site some people come out and go "but g82 for 200" cos it happened once a million years ago in a galaxy far, far away as a pricing error. It's a pointless refrain that is running very tired by this stage.

    • Takes 2 months to arrive dude

On my third Xiaomi mobile, a Redmi Note 10 5G (also available Ali). All totally problem free, running on Telechoice (Telstra). Highly recommend, these are great phones .. 👍 .. !!

    • My experience has been similar with Xiaomi phones, my wife and i have both had a few over the years and they have always performed better than expected for their price range and no issues.

    • I only recommend Xiaomi's with sd chip, so far I'm very happy with my Poco x3 pro. I had 2 Xiaomi's with mediatek never again, I had nothing but issues.

  • Just be aware the CPU MTK G25 in this is very mediocre. A SD665 is 2+x or more powerful. My Oppo A52 with a sd665 is laggy.

    • The cheapest phone I can see with a Qualcomm processor at JB HiFi at the moment is $299. That has a SD680 and released 5 months later in August 2022. Same amount of RAM but otherwise better specced. If you need something now there seem to be few choices that are as new or have good availability for a similar price. Would you buy a phone released in 2020 with a SD665 if you could have it for the same money as this? BTW, is there 3rd party firmware for your Oppo?

  • Damn, was hoping to see a Poco sale
