  From my limited understanding there has not been that much change in intel CPU performance between 8th and 10 gen. They got a good bump in performance with 11th gen including graphics and 12th gen cpu like 1240p is much better with good core count and all. I think you are better of buying the 8th gen versions of this laptop for $350ish used. I got one from last deal and it works pretty well for general task and browsing even with 8gb ram.
