Apple MacBook Pro 15" - 2.3GHz - Retina Display - KOGAN for $2,279.00 + Delivery

14

As per the post on their Facebook page.

RRP is $2499, so with shipping roughly a $190 saving.

Kogan also have the 2.6GHz version available for purchase at $2,959.00.

Dick Smith or similar will eventually be better value when this Mac is 10% off but it will most likely be quite a while before that happens.

  • That's a damn nice laptop (and expensive!)

Are these grey imports? If it is the case, what's the likeliness of custom slapping on GST + duty making it more expensive than the local model?

    • Seeking clarification on this, will post back.

        If it's a grey import, 2279 + 29 (shipping) = 2308 (shipping is included in GST calculation once $1000 threshold is broken) x 110% (GST) = $2538.8 + customs processing fee ($55 minimum as with a 1.3k machine from America) + $10 courier customs processing/security fee = $2603.80
I doubt kogan would bother with this if the customer had to pay GST on top.

i understand that its got this awesome Retina display and all but still aint worth paying $2000+ for a macbook….

      • Most apps on the macstore arent retina display compatible yet so not worth to get it now.

Same price with Student/EPP discount, and free shipping from apple too. not really a bargain IMO

    • +3

Just sign up to Student VIP and get it for even less than Student discount.

True, but it could be said that not everyone is illegible for the student pricing (regardless of the unlikeness of Apple confirming.)

      • "True, but it could be said that not everyone is illegible for the student pricing (regardless of the unlikeness of Apple confirming.)"

        Huh?

'it could be said that not everyone is clear enough to be read for the student pricing'

        • illegible is meant to be eligible. It's still easy to understand.

Not everyone is a student, so he is saying it's not a valid reason to neg.

        • the valid reason is you can negotiate the up to 10% discount with the good retailers. or, being an ozbargainer and who has insterest in the fruits laptops, you can pay attention to what is going on around you. like 10% off from JB a couple of weeks ago, or 10% off from Dick last week.

    • +1

Dse 10% off + borrow friend's woolie staff card to get further 5% off.

Im planning to get a friend to do tourist tax refund for me aswell so thats another 10% off.

      Woohoo!!

      • or buy thousands of wish gift cards at 5% discount.

i bought $1.2k gift card for a mbp, but ordered a rmpb before i receives the gift card.

Not even 10% off. 10% off is the standard (most discount you'll get), but that's still less than this price and that's Aussie stock.

Still an overpriced box. " ohh we have added a full size keyboard", " we added a memory card slot" , we now have a hdmi out port ", "we even separated the USB ports so this time so they are not too close to each other " did we mention it's georgeous?". It even has "Thunder bolt", an intel product but we will trademark the name under apple. We added a blue ray player……….. Not. And we have a fabolous 720p HD face time camera (0.91 Megapixels). Maybe next year we will give you 1080P(2.1MP)…Be sure to buy our accessories/addons so we can RAMM you on those prices as well…. Soz I was getting into it :)

    • classic.

      ASUS ftw then :P

summarised - "this time we're giving you a proper laptop, promise. But you have to pay with the life of your first unborn child. But we know you will since we know you're our biggest sheep.. I mean fan!"

Over priced as compared to what? This akin to the Dell Precisions when it was the only one that had a 1920x1200 screen 6-7 years ago when everyone else was still on 1280x800. And these Precisions costed 3-4k when the normal lappy was in the 1k range. There are people who need and want the high res screen, and this is the only option available at the moment, so back to my original point, over priced as compared to what exactly?

    • Back to your Linux cave troll.

it is garbage! i mean the "deal”. i received my rmbp on tuesday, ordered from Dick Smith last weekend for $2249, free shipping.the local retailers often do 10% discount.

  • Are you serious? Are your eyes painted on? Or do u need "retina display" to see the posts clearly on OzBargain.

I said it was overpriced and that's my opinion. (Looks like others "see" it the same way). Not gospel truth.

Don't get cut because you possibly became a statistic on Apples keynote at the WWDC. Opps I said "Apple" I might get sued now :).
Majority of the quotes I mentioned have been said, thats what makes it funny… Well not to some.;)
Bahaha "…Linux cave troll" loll funny thing is the world of Linux is more "open". Who has the shackles and who has freedom?
