2023 Dated Medication Clearance: Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Hayfever, Diarrhoea, Hearftburn Relief + More @ PharmacySavings

920

Hi Ozbargainers,

I've started clearing out all 2023 dated stock, this may be an ongoing process as despite my protests more 2023 dated product is still arriving daily from suppliers still trying to clear out the balance of the 2023 expiry dated items they are still holding. Tonight I've assembled an ensemble of different medication at pretty much cost or below, so I am sure these are the best prices in Oz for these items delivered. Quantities on some items are a bit low so I didn't want to waste everyones time listing these individually, so I thought I would list items as a group.

If you are interested in buying multiple of the below items, please consider adding them to 1 shopping cart and checking out once as this will greatly reduce transactions costs my end which are nearly at the point where I have to crank pricing just to cover processing costs. Thanks ;-)

Op. Your prices are adding taxes to the advertised price.

Grrr - thanks for pointing out there is an issue with the merchant cart (shopify) - wont allow me to remove the GST, I have amended the pricing to compensate. Seems to be a bug.

      • +1

Whoops, I got charged $2 tax. That'll teach me to blindly click.

Please PM your order - I will refund, I have recreated the listing as fast as I could…. phew.

Panamax 500mg 100 Tablets is only $2.99 @ Chemist Warehouse and would have a longer expiry.

    • Guess you're best to go there for your paracetamol

    • +7

Yes - but shipping is $9.99 so total is $12.98 delivered. Happy to price match for $12.98 delivered, please send a PM.

      • +12

Umm chemist warehouse and my chemist are fairly easy to access for most in metro areas. Given they're half the price of your offering, it would be cheaper and quicker to go to one of those stores for some paracetamol.

      • Just wondering, are you able to do your Hayfever/Cold& Flu bundles without the paracetamol? Would it work out cheaper for those who don't need the paracetamol?

    • +2

thanks I never knew about those

Are you suggesting these cant be bought online from a variety of other places?

FFS, I can buy some of this from Woolworths without them bringing out a pharmacist.

When I have bought quantities of some of these instore from a chemist they havent said a thing. I just picked them up off the shelf, paid and left.

    • +1

Since when do you get told any of that when simply buying over the counter medications lol

    • With chemist wharehouse selling 100x500g paracetamol for $2.99 I think your concern ought to be elsewhere.

If you ask @jason101 nicely, he might be able to do you a deal on burn cream

Why do you think you should be allowed to practice -

      Practise.

    • What a Karen. Sheesh

"Why do you think you should be allowed to practice as a pharmacist in these circumstances?"
Can you private message me your accreditation so I can check your credentials?

  • -5

Yes some can be bought in small quantities outside pharmacies. Noone would expect professional advice or caution in the supermarket context. But there is a difference when a professional pharmacist under t.he flag of beinga health professional promotes the sale of large quantities of short dated medicines (with the implication that they need to be used quickly) without showing any care at all about over use and dangerous interactions.

    • +1

Indeed. Darwin would be spinning in his grave he would.

    • There are, of course, warnings on the website.

  • Hi OP. Loved the previous bulk Trust loratadine deal. What’s the expiry on the 200x TRUST LORATADINE - RESTOCKED?

    • Currently packing 06/24 exp date.

      • Thank you. I don’t think i could use 200 in 15 months time. That’s like taking one every 2nd day. Can you do any deal on the 100 tablets instead? What’s the expiry on the 100 tablets box please?

  • In time for Bali trip

  • +2

Is the used by date really important with this stuff? Being the pills are dry would the active ingredient really deteriorate? Asking for a Doomsday Prepper "Mate".

    • +2

I’m pretty sure the US Defence force did a study in to dry medications. They last well beyond their date.

  • Lorasol ok. Paracetamol @ Aldi = $ 0.75/20 which is equivalent to only $3.75/100 tabs.

    • +1

Please keep in mind this is a delivered price (its costs me $3-4 to get this packed into an envelope and in the post box).

  • What what, in the butt. I said what what, in the butt.

  • Hi OP, do you have any Buscopan (hyoscine butylbromide 10mg) equivalent?

  • -5

I commented about the safety and appropriateness of a pharmacist supplying bulk short dated medicines in this way but my comment was deleted as being one with a "Comment score below threshold".

Why would an Ozbargain moderator think product safety is a below threshold issue?

Pharmaceuticals are not confectionery - they can kill or injure very quickly if taken in the wrong way or in too great a quantity or in combination with the wrong medicines.

The ones being sold here are no exception - and being short dated there is an extra hazard to the extent the short date encourages people to use them up more quickly than necessary.

    • +1

If someone has too many energy drinks in one sitting, it can also kill or injure, but like… use some common sense?

Besides, these are all over-the-counter medicines widely available at the shops.

      • -2

Not correct. Some of the medicines on sale here are available in supermarkets, but often in smaller packs and lower dose strengths. Others on sale here are only available in pharmacies.

        • +1

Pharmacies are shops if you havent noticed.

The question do they require speaking to a pharmacist or not. If not then no different to this deal.

    • +1

We aren't as stupid as you make us out to be…

    • +4

Why would an Ozbargain moderator think product safety is a below threshold issue?

No that isn't what happened, nobody deleted your comment. Did you think about maybe clicking the "show" button to the right of the text you quoted?

So many people disagreed with you that your comment was auto hidden.

      Pharmaceuticals are not confectionery

Wow, thanks for letting us know. I was planning on giving these to the kids at Halloween.

they can kill or injure very quickly if taken in the wrong way or in too great a quantity or in combination with the wrong medicines.

      Thankfully they have instructions.

The ones being sold here are no exception - and being short dated there is an extra hazard to the extent the short date encourages people to use them up more quickly than necessary.

Yeah. I always down 47 panadol even though I'm completely fine just because they are going to expire the next day.

On a serious note. You are being way over the top. These are common over the counter medications and pretty much anyone looking will already be purchasing these and know what they are getting. If you know you use say a certain antihistamine routinely then this can easily be a bargain.. Personally i wouldn't be worried about the date. Obviously i would look up before using but most are safe well past date.

      • -2

Thanks for advising how to view comments that have been hidden for being below threshold.

I have made my point now and believe the issues raised are ultimately ones for alert consumers, parents and relevant regulators and professional bodies.

        A few final comments follow.

Yes, these medicines have instructions - but arguably harm is less likely if they are sold in a face to face pharmacy setting rather than in supermarkets and service stations. For example, paracetamol poisoning (intentional and otherwise) is a real issue causing permanent liver damage and around 50 deaths annually. The risk seems to be highest for young people.

        https://www.tga.gov.au/how-we-regulate/ingredients-and-sched…

And despite comments in the thread to the contrary, not all the medicines in this offer are available in supermarkets - loperamide for example is an S2 medicine only sold in pharmacies. And for good reason - FDA 2019 advice is that "It is safe at approved doses, but when much higher than recommended doses are taken, it can lead to serious problems, including severe heart rhythm problems and death". My own GP practice strongly recommends allowing diarrhoea to runs its course if at all possible and only using loperamide if circumstances really require it.

(To be clear, while I believe the best way to supply these medicines is face to face in pharmacies, I am not a pharmacist and have no connection with the ownership or operation of pharmacies).

        • You sound like you are in the red tape business, trying to get as many middle-men between consumers and products to get more $.

        • +1

…loperamide for example is an S2 medicine only sold in pharmacies…

Warnings are plastered all over the box.

Victorinox paring knives are a popular deal often appearing on OzBargain. Just one could kill you. At some point, you just have to assume that the customer is not an A-grade moron!

Finally! Something for the runs at both ends…..or for the trots and the snots.

  • Does expired diarrhoea relief tablets have the opposite effect?

  • Could never use Shopify, and never would, those to their own liking.

But if your serious do it your self.

  • No limit to what we buy? add to cart then checkout without having to do anything else?

  • OP:

3x 140 Dose Sensease Mometasone + 100x Paracetamol Tabs is showng as out of stock, but when I choose
3x Sensease + 10x Lorastyne 10mg (Loratadine) it has the title saying it will be with Paracetamol, but the description says Lorastyne (which doesn't work for me - lactose intolerant).

is the 3 x nasonex + paracetamol still attainable?

    • Yes - I will amend, sorry I have to juggle the stock between the variants (its the sensease thats in short supply)
