  • Is this good or overkill for a bedside reading light?

    • +1

At 1400 lumen its pretty overkill, and you prpbanly could get better looking lights for that purpose.

      • Could you recommend any? Agree this one is overkill for that purpose.

I'm happy with my IKEA bedside light that has a clamp. Otherwise, lots of good lamp options on Amazon you can have a browse through too

Maybea little but they’re damn good lights and the app is minimal/clean and works well.

You can control the output intensity and colour temperature very finely, soo you could use them how you’ve mentioned.

I use two of these on my desk even when in not using my pc for reading or electrical hobby work. But I rarely go past 10-20% strength since they get very bright if you need it.

Additionally you could point them to a corner to make some nice ambiance since they have the output to pull it off.

    • If you can find it, Kmart have a 'Streaming light' - effectively a rectangular key light - for $10 clearance.

      • Are they good ?

  • I have a few of these and they make for really good lights outside of their designed use.

Practically a steal at $135 if you can make use of them, you can get cheaper photography lights with dials and plastic colour temperature sheets but being able to control them from the taskbar or as easily from the phone app is a feature i cant go without anymore.

    • how are you using it for portraits?

      • I don’t use them for portrait shots but I have used them for other photography. Pointing it towards a wall, using a reflector/diffuser works well. Obviously not as flash.

        • Oh okay do you have examples of what you were shooting?
I wouldn’t mind using it as well, I’m into photography so just wondering what I can use them for outside of work/video calling

          • @Zodinn: Mostly showcase/product photography, anything requiring macro or close up benefits heavily.
