[Possible Price Error] Seagate Hard Drives and Other Things Going Super Cheap from an Amazon Seller

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

I imagine this is a mistake but it has been available for >10 minutes and has allowed me to make orders.

Although the shipping is quite steep (almost $36 for 1 hard drive) I have found a number of items for as low as 1c.

I managed to complete 1 order to make sure it worked (YES IT LET ME SHIP TO AUS!) so I guess we'll see how it goes from here.

Probably words lost in the world of OzBargain but try to minimised your orders to allow other people a chance (is Broden-ing still a thing on here?)

Mod:
Please note that the seller is a company called Original Wireless (website). All payments, credit card information and refunds are done by Amazon.com. Amazon does not charge until the item is shipped out.

Mod footnote 2:
With respect to items sold by Amazon, we cannot confirm the price of an item until you order; however, we do NOT charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

Someone has to pack this stuff and see the invoice for say $38 inc shipping for a 3D projector … it won't happen, especially for the massive quantity that is building up in their order queue right now. For ever person here admitting making an order, there are several others who are quietly ordering. And you can be sure that some of the orders are standouts.

        It won't happen :-)

  • +5

One cent? Damn there goes my weekly budget!

  • +1

If it does get delivered, I'd delete my ozbargain badge and cry myself to sleep.

Yep, I ordered even though I remember the saying

If it's too good to be true, it isn't.

  • +8

Maybe this is one of those situations where the seller has been doing the dirty on the wife, and the wife has gone and adjusted all the prices on his inventory on Amazon as payback, just like the chick in the UK that sold the hubbie's Lotus on eBay for 50p http://bbc.in/QCMlNp :)

    • +1

      Yeah, maybe ;)

    • +1

      No

  • +32

Can someone try an Officeworks pricematch on this? :)

  • Well its worth a try, count me in! One HP switch and one projector… we will see…

  • Great pricing (even if price error) but shipping kills it :(

Shipping & Handling: $69.90 for standard.

  • $38 shipped for the Acer X1220H 3D Ready DLP Projector?

    Worth the gamble IMO…

  • +1

They fixed it just now it seems

We're sorry. The item Seagate Constellation ES ST1000NM0011 1 TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive-SATA/600-7200 rpm-64 MB Buffer-by SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY is no longer available from the seller you selected. To see if it's available from another seller, click here to return to the item's product detail page.

    • +4

that probably just means that this vendor's stock is all ordered now and there is no more.

  • -1

Shipping is the killer. IMO not worth it

  • +2

Looks like we aren't the only ones noticing the pricing issue.
I'm going to wait for fallout, but would be excellent if it worked. Good luck to y'all.

    • +2

      says someone got shipping confirmation

      • +5

Later in the thread they admit to lying about that.

  • +6

Just spent $400K wish me luck.

  • +11

Don't fall for this scam, Someone has hacked the Original Wireless account. They are gathering our information . So anyone wants to give away you details to hackers then try buying it.

  • +5

If it seems too good to be true..

    • +4

… then you must post it as a deal on Ozbargain. ;)

  • A $400 TomTom for $0.99… hmmm…

    • Oooh a $3000 Cisco switch for $7

  • clearly their database is all screwed up, just look at the photos for items 11 & 15, they don't match the description at all.

Pricing error, I doubt anyone will get any of the super bargains listed, not worth chasing IMHO.

  • Bought a few stuff. See how it goes.

  • +1

Worth a punt, don't expect anything.

    • +13

      Better odds with Powerball….

  • +4

This is going to end badly for all.. Have a look a the detailed seller info…..cell phone accessories !

    • +2

Also on their actual website they sell nothing but phone accessories.

    • -1

      s

  • +2

Kinda odd when their website and seller description says they're a phone and accessories shop but somehow they're selling comp peripherals

    • +8

      Any link?

  • +1

I'm going to take this to officeworks and get a price beat lol

  • +1

Imagine the nightmare if they accept your order BUT charge your credit card the correct prices not the grossly under priced prices you thought you could scam them with. I was tempted to buy the scanner and the projector but just decided to empty my cart. Just not worth the risk.

    • I don't even think that is technically possible since Amazon deals with the billing and not the seller.

Nonetheless I would be USD $904.22+ shipping poorer

    • +1

Then you call your bank and do a chargeback, showing them the invoice that shows a different price.

I placed an order for one of the projectors, but I know I won't get it. I just don't want to be left out if by some miracle they get shipped.

My credit card hasn't been charged yet, so it's obviously not an automated system.

  • +1

Just tried to order a few things and the postage was $245 for $20 worth of goods. Hmm not worth it i think hehe

  • +1

did the the stock market crash??

  • +1

So what happens if they send us shit that isn't what we ordered, and we ask for a refund and they only refund the purchase price and they keep the 'shipping'?

Obviously I would charge back my credit card, but I don't want to screw over amazon during this.

    • you're worried about Amazon getting screwed over? What about the (far smaller) vendor?

  • Just spent 100… oh oh.

  • +1

Wouldn't waste my time on this.

    • What about mine? :)

  • +5

There's going to be a lot of tears on this thread in the coming days……

  • Did a moderator really add those footnotes to the Opening Post, or just someone has a kinky sense of humor. ;) Either way - if you don't get more than you bargained for you might at least get a chuckle come 9.ooam tomorrow morning. Add the rest to Powerball.

    • 9am? Pretty sure this is an American store.

  • God this is tempting :/

  • On their actual website, the prices are unbudged.

    This one made me laugh.

    50c/mb lol.

Hot-linking 4chan so will only be accessible for a bit. Same company mis-priced their processors on Amazon a while ago?

  • +34

WARNING: CHECK THE ASIN's OF THE PRODUCTS, THEY'RE ALL CELLPHONE PARTS, NOT THE OBJECT THEY'RE DESCRIBING

EG: THE Caviar Blue WD1600AAJS Hard Drive by WESTERN DIGITAL ASIN = B005C2NEGI, Googling B005C2NEGI = "Motorolla flip case" But when you click it it comes to the Western digital again.

TL;DR, Someone probably hacked that amazon shop, changing the product name, description and photo

    • +3

Well spotted. The 3D projector is actually a "Motorola universal pouch". I don't think this company even has these products, even if they wanted to ship them.

    • +17

Yep, everyone will soon be receiving their Nokia 5110 Deluxe Leather Cases in the mail.

    • should I make the "This order has been cancelled."?

      • I already cancelled mine. Got an email from Amazon saying I won't be charged for the order.

    • Also user reviews are from different products, for example item:

SVAT 11027 4-Channel Smart Security DVR with 4 Ultra Resolution Outdoor Night Vision Security Cameras-by-SVAT

      Review:

I have ordered this product Audiovox Utstarcom BTR8900 1000, from the vendor before, good batteries. I have an older phones and getting parts and equipment is getting harder. I Will continue to order from them again."

  • Wow so cellphone parts may show up?

  • Put my order in… Was in the process of paying for it. Error came up and now says item is not available and it was removed from my cart and moved to saved items… No deal here…

  • Oh shittttt……

    I've been charged on my card… :S :/

  • Was about to comment myself on the ASIN. I was looking at getting one of the HP switches, did a search on the ASIN and it turned out to be a Motorolla Phone Pouch….however, when clicking on the link produced by Google it brought me right back to the switch. Needless to say, order was not complete by I. those of you who have been charge…consider taking a screen shot of what you purchased with ASIN in clear shot and make sure you keep that confirmation email from Amazon, it will at least have the product name in there.

  • +4

This should probably be moved to the forums. I will downvote to prevent newsletter readers from making uninformed purchases.

    • +1

Good point. This promises to be an entertaining thread; and it would be great if the guys who ordered did get a bargain; but I honestly can't see it happening.

Nothing against the OP; but as machej said, this needs more downvotes to protect people from themselves!

    • Agree, this should be moved to anywhere but the front page.

  • +42

    Dammit !!!

Tried to order a nokia phone pouch from these guys and now they're sending me a Seagate Drive !!!

    Not happy !!! >:(

  • +1

You wonder if thread like this somehow backfire and just bring in the scamsters trawling comment left by members. Sad fallout to being mod as it probably means more work being done to editing future site.

Clever spotting by the individual saw the ASIN did not match the (hacked) product page. Well done.

    • :)

  • we can only hope…. :/

  • +2

Now I can not cancel my order, anyone else can?

  • +1

Aww crap, but nice work TivTiv

I had a bunch of stuff in the cart earlier before fear won out over greed… lucky for me I'm such a pussy :)

    • Lol that made me chuckle :>

    • hahaha, was the same for me.. a bit sketchy so checked it out

    • I feel bad for the guy who bought 200 HDDs.

      • Why? I don't.

  • Damn it I got charged wtf…

  • Doesn't anyone else think it's just a little bit strange that original wireless is a mobile phone company?

Edit: scrap that, just read some more of the thread!

  • +4

I believe mods should move this to forums to prevent more people buying without reading comments… Its pretty obvious this is a scam (or at least a price error that will most likely to be not honored)

  • +3

+ve this so i can have more funny stories to read

    • i wouldnt worry about it, until people start receiving cancellation emails, and then it will be a mini dick smith neg fiasco lol

  • +1

Hmm.. the things that people fall for when it comes to saving money or gaining money.
No wonder there's so many of those fake emails and phone calls and sms from nigerian kings and such.
    Humans are interesting creatures

  • +1

From a response from a supplier of baby food a few months ago, it's more like that for everyone that comments here or clicks, there are 100 ish that order!
There's a LOT of lurkers here that just read 'n order

  • Pay by credit card, and if it's a scam, get a refund from your credit card company.

    • Yup, I second this.

  • Ordered a procurve switch… crossing fingers ;]

    • +5

Didn't read page 2 of the comments?

    • +1

      FAIL

    • +1

You didn't get a procurve switch. Most probably a mobile phone part. Enjoy your mobile phone antenna.

  • Is this a possible scenario. You ordered and they confirm item shipped, so you got charged for item + shipping. Item never arrived, you asked for refund, they refund you for item (1c), they don't refund for shipping! For those who ordered, strange insurance is never mentioned, is that offered?
