UPERFECT 16" 2K IPS Portable Monitor US$111.61 (~A$179) 2560x1600 16:10 500cd/M² @ Cutesliving Store AliExpress

850

I have been on the look out for some largish cheapish portable monitors for WFH excel, and managed to come across this monitor. From what I noticed was that a lot of those monitors with similar specifications are around the $200+ aud mark.

Edit: Select the EU Plug options (it's a usb charger only, should be easy to obrtain these quite cheaply) which gives you the $111 USD price.

Specification below:
-Panel Type: 16.0” IPS Screen
-Resolution: 2560*1600 2K
-Display Color: 1.06B (8bit+FRC)
-Visual Angle: 178° Full View Angle
-Contrast Ratio: 1200:1
-Brightness: 500 cd/㎡ (advantage over the other 300nits varients portable monitors so great for outdoors)
-Refresh Rate: 120Hz
-NTSC: 72%
-s-RGB: 100%
-Response time : 25ms
-Display area:344.678(H)×215.424(V)
-Bulit-in Speakers: Dual 8Ω 1W Speakers

The cheapest price is with the EU plug, the AU plug is significantly more expensive. Still a great price for what seems to be a decent monitor.

yep! thanks for that, i have added additional detail about that. It's just some USB charger which most people should have heaps lying around.

      Lowest price*

    • An extra 70 bucks for the AU plug :(

      • +3

Nah all other plug options are OOS. I have the one bdi linked from my previous deal and just do passthrough charging with my GaN PD charger. Rather than the included adapter.

Hope there are good deals on touch screen 4k soon… Still annoyed didn't get the last one you posted >.<

        • Do you have a case for this touchscreen one? How do you prevent scratches when you bring it around?

          • @tatasauce: No case. I have a separate soft bag to keep it in. Due to the stand it's less portable.

      • Personally, I wouldn't trust the included power adapter. I have the one included with my lapdock away and use a Berlin charger.

        • Guys what do you think about this one? Seems like a good price for local stock if I ak understanding this right?

  • This seems to be even cheaper than what I could buy from Taobao before shipping to Australia!

What is the purpose of these things if they still need to be attached to a source? Serious question sorry I font mean to be negative. Genuine question Ty in advance

    • +1

They're a monitor for when a device doesn't have a display, or, a second or larger monitor when connected to a source.

    • +4

For small form factor PCs like a NUC. For example if you run a small business but have limited space.

I like to use a second screen with my laptop when I travel. These fit into my bag much easier.

      • +1

        This.

    • +3

You attach it to your laptop which provides power. Great for working out in the garden, in parks, at the beach, hotels etc to improve productivity. It's painful trying to work with a single 13" laptop screen.

      • +6

Are they good for working out in the garden? Are they heavy enough, or would it be better to buy a few weights and leave the laptop inside?

    • You need this https://nexdock.com/

    • To use a Samsung Galaxy phone in DEX mode?

  • The brightness and refresh rate seem at odds with the price. Is there something about hear screens that makes them so cheap? Poor build quality?

    • True, these specs are usually almost twice the price

    • Possibly have things like light bleed on the edges etc. That's been my experience anyway.

    • +1

im guessing it's a cheap chinese brand instead of japanese or korean. I am guessing they probably inflated there stats and also probably won't last as long due to bad soldering job.

    • +2

Yes, the lack of Western marketing overheads

    • Came here to say this. Only thing I can think is that the response time is very high for such a high refresh rate monitor, so might have some ghosting on moving objects.

  • Is it included a stand/cover ?

  • Anyone have experience with these? I bought an 13.3" ips eaons ago and despite the "170 degree fov" it had horrible gamma shifting as soon as you went off axis to it.

  • is there a way to attach these to the side of a laptop screen or are they too heavy?

    • most likely going to be to heavy given the size. Would mess up your hinge i reckon if you tried doing that.

  • Can you cast or wirelessly screen share to one of these by connecting another compact device to it? Anyone recommend a good way to do it or can tell me what the limitations are?

    • +1

      it's the same monitor.

      • Just more expensive. Thanks

Just received this monitor today. Used for a few hours now and I'm quite happy with it. It's crisp and the viewing angle seems wide enough. No issues so far for normal WFH tasks.

  • +1

I got mine today as well. However, it doesn't reach 500cdm - it's closer to 300

  • +1

For anyone who bought one, I've calibrated mine to 100cd/m2 and it is close to 6500K and average delta-E is less than 1 using the following modified settings:

Brightness 49 (contrast and black same)

Color: User: Red 49, Green 49, Blue 49

    ICM profile here: https://mega.nz/file/Vj5kQaqT#VfB1NVEvvvtPgUAAai_d18RAOxWsXw…

One annoying this is that I've found the brightness tends to reset itself to 20 after each power off (at least for USB-C).

    • Is it srgb 100%? And is it actually 120hz ?

      • Yes, it is. This is the panel inside: https://www.panelook.com/NE160QDM-NY1_BOE_16.0_LCM_overview_…

I somehow entered a diagnostic mode after flipping the power switch to my charger a few times (this made it show the panel).

BTW, I figured out that if you used a standard 5V usb power supply, the brightness gets set to 20 by default. However, if you use a PD charger (USB-C PD), it will go back to whatever you set it as.

  • Got mine box damaged on arrival. The monitor was totally wrecked and bent with cracked screen.

Wasn't sure whose fault is it (seems to be repackaged by Auspost so could be Auspost's fault 🤷‍♂️).

Submitted a return/refund request and being firm about opening a dispute via paypal if no resolution, and the seller promptly processed the refund within 12 hours.
