I am in need of a student card. Does anyone know of any free courses that are simple to sign up to and given a student card?

Do you think you’re the first person to try and get a student card for cheaper items without actually studying??

    • +4

Or find a student partner, but I wouldn't recommend it.

  • +2

I suppose you want the public transport concession card as well?

    • -7

      no

    • haha I laughed, thanks for that.

      • -1

me too, it was so funny

  • +6

I also want a million dollars that I am not entitled to

    • +6

If you found a way, please let me know how.

I'd like to open the bowling for Australia in the first test of the Ashes

      • +1

That came out the left field xD. I would also like to volunteer to open to bat for the first test of the ashes.

        • That came out the left field……

I think you have confused your sports.

One of the skills a student should possess is being able to research. It seems that OP fails to possess such a skill.

      • +6

If that's what you think a student is, then you don't deserve the knowledge of free courses so you can get a Student Card.

      • +1

I want to be a student. Ie lazy, cbf, wake up for class at 10am, stay up all night playing cod

Yeah but that's only 'silly' because they're accruing HECS the entire time and making themselves financially worse off for their sloth. If there's no financial detriment to that lifestyle then it stops being silly and starts being based instead.

    • +1

      That's why they don't have a student card ;)

  • +4

OP is just lazy. Sign up for a cheap short term TAFE course.

    Your welcome.

    • -4

I looked at those, I think there are still fees that apply though. Looking for zero costs lol

    • +8

      Your welcome

I'm thinking you might need a student card as well 😉

  • +2

How about crossing the channel from Calais France to Dover England illegally and then say you are 14 and be registered as a year 8 student? Pretty much free.

    • -1

      thanks bro

  • +1

TAFE have free courses, too late to enrol for semester 1 though. And I don't know the consequences of failing a free course but if you don't put in any time you will fail almost any course.

  • +2

maybe you should state WHY you want a student card..

      • +6

you're really not helping your cause here by answering such dumb comments

        • -5

          ok hero

    • +6

Pretty sure it’s for the discounts

      • -1

why does it even matter? I want to be a student the easiest possible way. Why are people so butthurt?! Like chill it don't affect you

        • +2

People are generally more ready to help if you provide a valid reason. If you want it just to flex or take advantage of discounts or just for the hell of it then you understand why nobody is leaping to help out

          • -3

@FireRunner: It's to impress a girl I'm going on date with soon.

            • +4

@boostpak: If that’s your idea of impressing a girl, it explains why you’re still single.

        • +2

Because "be a student" shouldn't be the endgame, "study/learn more about/work in [insert subject/field you are interested in here]" should be. I have worked with too many students in it for the student card/Ausstudy/shut their parents up/ the "student lifestyle" in stoner movies, and its not a fun experience for most of the people involved. It's also fairly disrespectful to the people who are slogging their guts out to improve themselves or society through studying, or who are pursuing a passion, and its disrespectful to the academics and teachers who are in there to teach you (many of whom put in a metric ton of work and energy into doing it- often overtime) if you are going around thinking you can be a student and "wake up at 10am[…] and stay up all night playing COD"

      • +1

it’s probably to enrol in a free course and then can get a centrelink payment

  • +4

You sign up for an undergrad/postgrad course at a university with HELP. Get your ID card sorted as part of the onboarding process, then pull out of the program before census date.

  • +2

I believe that your course needs to be campus-based and not online to receive most concessions. This is certainly the case for public transport in NSW.

    • +1

Do IDs even specify if you're on campus or not?

      • +1

The educational institution I work for doesn't specify that on their student cards

      • Not generally, but some of the forms have to be signed off my student services, and they do know

  • +2

you wanna share with us strangers why you need a student ID? go on… enlighten us.

Give some, get some…. I dont give out free lunches buddy.

    • haha it shall remain a mystery for now. popcorn?

      • if you bothered to use half your brain, there are heaps of ways of getting a student ID / email address.

        No worries, I won't share either :D

        • just need the ID

  • +2

Have a child, send them to school.
Use their student card for the discounts

    • +3

What school gives you student cards before high school?

      • +6

@FireRunner is suggesting OP plays the loooong game.

        • Could pay for intensive tutoring and hothouse them into high school earlier to start saving money earlier…/s

    • +2

Long process, I'm still waiting lol

    • See above - he's still looking for his first date.

  • Students who attend college or university that are given a personal institution email address or credit card style student ID issued directly by their institution qualify for a UNiDAYS account

  • I think I’ve seen them for sale on aliexpress for a few bucks.

  • I have been doing the UTAS courses (Thanks to OZbargain) and am close to getting my Diploma Certificate. I got the student ID but I never needed to use it anywhere. So, I am still confused about why you need it. Or, I am not making use of my card?

    • Join UNiDAYS and check the discounts available to members

      • Thanks. will do

    • Student tix at the opera! Also MSO (I see you're in Melbourne too). So places do cheaper drinks too with student discounts.

  • Is it because of discounts on Spotify, Youtube, perhaps something to do with Centrelink, some other discount like food, haircuts?

Here's the answer, actually become a student to study for a job.

    • The OP is trying to get a student visa but without actually studying.

    • Nah it's not for a saving or discount. I need it to show someone

  • -3

Does anyone know of an online course that is free not relevant to hecs where you get a student ID?

    • +3

      Yeah. It's in your imagination.

      • -6

why you so butt hurt bruh?
