Apple MacBook Pro 14" (2021) M1 Pro, 512GB SSD Space Grey $2292 in-Store Only @ JB Hi-Fi (Price Beat $2177.40 @ Officeworks)

400

Same deal as posted by a fellow ozbagainer a few days ago but I was late to the party as it was apparently OOS at JB HIFI. Checked this morning and was able to find it again but it's in space grey only. Went to Carlton Officeworks and the staff told me they were adviced this cannot be price beated, didn't want to argue with them so tried Taren Point Officeworks and was able to get the 5% price beat. I wanted the sliver colour though they don't have it in stock but apparently there were a few left at Five Dock. Just be aware they might not price beat the silver one as JB HIFI doesn't have this coulour in stock in the 512gb model.

  • no stock in JB

    • I think as long as it's shown on their (JB HiFi) website, Officeworks probably would price beat it.

      • Neither store has them here and office works customer service doesn't work Saturdays over the phone, so no dice for me.

        • Go in store. They might do it for you.

  • Wish 16" was this price. Great laptop.

    • Best I've seen is $2800 from jb or apple refurb $2880 less 15% off vouchers

Don't fall for the Longer battery life, up to 17 hours, otherwise a good laptop for the price.

    • Explain?

      • It's not as good as the air 1/2 I know that much, MBp M2 is better, but $580 more on sale now, also the 512gb base models have the gimped ssd single chip, so slower.

        • have the gimped ssd single chip, so slower.

What's the real world impact? And, when would it be noticeable?

@ihfree: buy and let us know

          • @ihfree: There has been plenty of discussions about this before. The one sentence version is once you out of ram, it gets pretty noticeable. All of this is irrelevant tho, as its the dual chip 512gb one? They mis thought the base model is 512gb I guess, bit it's really a 256gb.

As for the battery, this could definitely do 17 hours for normal browsing. Its fantastic, and the m2 is even better.

      great machine good deal

Mac minis are awesome, pure workhorses and great value. For example this M1 was $550aud on ebay

  • No JB stock, no price match, says my OW.

  • Called Narre Warren JB, they said this specific model was only somewhere in the $2500… price point and in stock for space grey and nothing that cheap as listed above for in store stock so I wonder how you find it at the other price? if someone can clarify to me, that would be great

  • Been looking into this deals, i think with the M3 coming out soon, there will be opportunities to pick up one.

I have decide to Hold for 2 month and wait for the macbook air 15, M3 and will have Oled screens. Thats the rumor

    • Although there are a lot of similarities, the MacBook Pro is in a different class compared to the Air. Generally the target audience for the Pro aren't likely to be cross shopping between the Pro and the Air.

      • I actaully preferred the Macbook Air due to the lighter weight and am not a power user, I can really feel the weight difference when holding it by 1 hand, not that the pro is very heavy but the Air is just so light. It's just that the M1 Pro at this price is just more bang for your buck. Also currently the wait for the custom Air M2 is roughly 1.5 week for me. Personally the reason I would go for the Air over the Pro even at this price point would be the rumoured 15inch screen and more efficient M3 chip, tho, I just won't be able to wait until it get released. Having a usb-c on the right hand side of the laptop would be good as well for the new Air.

        • The Apple refurb store has customs with overnight deliver.

  • Also you are just reading rumours nothing is confirmed, may not even be a 15” air and will be expensive if there is.

    • Apple love rumors, i think is worth the wait for the M3 . Prices is a personal choice.
