Worth noting Samsung usually refuse to honour warranty claims for purchases from Amazon US sent to AU. Makes the 5 year warranty useless. A few reviews on the items confirming the same.

Thanks mate. Will add this important tidbit to the description.

  • Samsung 870 EVO 1TB vs MX500 1TB?
I think I'd prefer the MX500 those are about $90.. any thoughts?

  • -1

Just in case someone does not know: Only buy a SATA SSD if your motherboard does not support M.2. M.2 interface is about 10x faster and cost about the same.

    • +2

Or you have run out of M.2 slots on your motherboard.

    • +3

M.2 drives run too hot in small setups like NUCs.

      • Is there space for an SSD heatsink in a NUC?

        • No, because they have one built in, there's a thermal pad (or pads, dep on model) on the chassis plate.

  • +1

Why can't the pricing scale linear to the 4tb 😪

    • +1

Same with microSDXC cards to the 1TB

  • Msy Sammy 870 evo plus m.2 $99

    • +4

EVO is better quality than QVO

    • +2

1TB QVO is very slow if you copy large files to (like 100+GB write at once), it's slower than HDD at below 100MB/s.

  • +1

i just got mine from the last deal.
unfortunately it was a mislabeled as 2TB.. factory seals say '1TB'.. so gonna send it back.

check it before you wreck it.

  • So can this be used as the main SSD for a laptop?
    Something about D-Ram or something?
Not sure if I get this or the QVO for my old laptop

    • +2

Definitely this over QVO. The EVO is the quality option while QVO is the budget option

      • So the EVO is like the Crucial MX500 and the QVO is like the Crucial BX 500?

        • +2

A bit like that but QVO is quite a bit better than BX500

  • +2

@genova it seems the price has dropped further to $197.24 if you wanna update it.

    • +1

Thanks. I think this is the lowest it has been.

      1TB went up $0.05!

      • +1

2TB is now down to $185.17

  • Kinda underwhelming considering other price drops in the ssd space.
