  • This is subsidised as part of the Pacific security policy

    • Why not Brisbane

  • +1

    Aww not Sydney

  • Why does it say lite fares only but then has 'Checked baggage, meals and entertainment are included' at the bottom?

    • Thanks for the heads up..I have corrected it!

      • The only flights I could find are $600-800!

  • How expensive are hotel prices and other stuff in Fiji ?

    • +3

Prices are same as here. Was a bit boring we just stayed in room as humidity was very high

  • How expensive is it to get from Syd to Canberra? That's the real question

    • The train now seems the cheapest at $33.89 one-way, so by going direct you'd at least be saving close to $100 minimum.

      • -1

Murray's bus. If booked in advance, you can get $15 one way fares (when on sale)

        • +10

          There's no more $15 fares

        • +1

          You're quoting 2019 rates. It's close to $50 now.

  • +1

Any idea what planes they are flying on this route?

Edit: all good, clicked the links. Looks like 737Max.

Fiji a good place to visit for a young adult? I know it's great with kids

    • +1

      You need a partner.

      • +6

You won't believe what happens next

    • +2

Absolutely not. There is an artificial island full of niceish resort hotels (denaru). Then there is the 3rd world country of Fiji. If you want to go to the beach there are plenty of nice beaches right here in Australia.

As a single person I would suggest Malaysia, Singapore or South Korea.

      • +1

That’s what puzzles me. What’s the point of flying to a country to enjoy beaches. Fiji is fine if you live in countries like Canada, uk etc, but for us, we have much better beaches.

        • +1

It’s too cold to enjoy the beaches here for at least six months of the year. Except in FNQ/NT but of course you can’t enjoy the beaches there at all because of crocodiles and jellyfish.

Also sometimes it’s nice to sip on a $2 beer and smoke a cheeky cigarette out of a packet that doesn’t have liveleak screenshots on the front of it.

          • @ripoffmerchant: That isn't Fiji though. It has poor infrastructure, but also a tiny and isolated population so everything is imported- and expensive

  • Canberra now has FJ Nadi as an option when heading to SF/LA/YVR. Not sure about the way back tho.

    • +1

Same way back. Flights go via Nadi

      • Yep, you're right. I had a random glance for 21july-2aug cbr-nan-lax return and it shows up. Fiji is a very nice place to stop for 2-3 hours, the lounge is excellent and even if you have to pay, it's worth it.

  • Do you still need to have 5-6 jabs to go to Fiji?
Never mind, as of my birthday they lifted the restrictions:
“Effective 14 February 2023, international travellers arriving into Fiji by air or sea will no longer be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and travel insurance to enter Fiji.

    Yayeeeee

    • +1

haven't heard the word 'jab' in a while haha. I ran into an article yesterday about the NZ-AUS travel bubble and how excited everyone was about it. strange times but we're past it now : )

      • +1

Oh wow, all the sports had “bubbles” too. Just 2 or 3 years ago!

      • Looks like just a few countries still want proof of vax, USA being the big one.
I will need a rat to transit MNL in June on my way to LHR but it will be smooth sailing for the rest of my journey to Kyiv. 🤞🏻

        • nice, enjoy! i wanted to go ukraine for a chernobyl trip but then covid happened, and then ya kno. Hopefully one day 🤞🏻

All the third party websites listed have woeful reviews.. I would steer clear and book directly with Fiji Airways.

    • +1

agreed, just go direct, the potential pain here is huge.

  • -3

Great deal. Safe and much cleaner then Asian destinations. Take your duty free and Fiji Gold beer is awesome!!!

    • +2

      Really?

I found Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea pretty ‘clean’.

Although I’m not 100% sure what you mean by clean.

    • yep very much enjoyem fiji gold. Also cigarettes are far cheaper there than here.

  • Be careful, the price is for one single person only. If you book more than one person, the per person price goes up dramatically. Two adult can book separately to enjoy the discount, but not so friendly for the family with kids.

  • Have anyone found the checked luggage price?
it seems to be higher than $30 each way on that page: https://www.fijiairways.com/en-us/manage/oversized-baggage-r…

The minimum price I could find is AUD65 one way, counted as a oversized/special luggage.

Is anyone can show me the $30 price, I would appreciate it

    thank you
