120

Melbourne, Ballarat & Gold Coasts only.

The Smashing Pumpkins will disarm us all when they bring The World Is A Vampire tour to ten cities across Australia this April! A project conceived by the band themselves which descends upon Mexico City in March before bringing their carnival to Australia.

Joined on the tour by Alt-rock legends, Jane’s Addiction, a band hotly pursued since their debut, plus Melbourne’s ball-tearing rockers Amyl & The Sniffers, RedHook, Battlesnake and local acts opening each show this is going to be huge.

The legendary line up isn’t all that’s on offer, there’ll be professional wrestling matches between Billy Corgan’s NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and the WAOA (Wrestling Alliance of Australia) at every show. Do not miss one of the most epic entertainment events of the year!

Was keen on this when announced but not @ 180-210 general admission.

I’m guessing they haven’t sold well because I keep seeing discounted tickets advertised locally.

While 159 is a decent price it looks like they’ve pulled the code, ticketek is 169 with no discount iirc.

Probably be a cracking show but dono I CBF’d getting spat at by Amyl for a bees under 200 bucks.

  • Seem to be getting $179 for SA

  • Will be a cracking show. Not cheap, but nothing is these days.

The last time I saw Billy Corgan live he was terrible. I don't think he could provide $159 worth of enjoyment.

    • that's what I keep hearing hence I'm not going

  • Looking at SetList fm they aren't even doing any deep cuts or set changes at every show, same set list each and every night

  • @nosytt Disappointing the lack of variety in setlists. I've bought tickets to both Melbourne shows and seems they will be almost identical.

I saw them at Sandstone Point last Sunday and it was awesome

Same show, honestly didn't think much of it. Not a hardcore SP fan but half the set was just them pissing about, and the end of the set? Wtf?

      Support acts were great though!

+1 for Redhook at any chance I get. Love those dudes.

  • Genuinely would go if it was 20 odd bucks less, and was specifically 20 odd bucks less because there was no wrestling bullshit. Maybe there is an overlap of fans, idk, I doubt it, but I don't know. Could not care less about that. Terrible choice of name though, lmao, NWA has never been more dangerous.

    • Chance of it happening, rhcp got down to $79 last two days or last few hours if in Brisbane.

    • The National Wrestling Alliance has been around for a lot longer than the rap group, it was the historic 'traditional' wrestling company and WWF were considered the rebel upstarts back in the day.

  • rhcp got down to $79 for the brisbane show and a few other locations. Started at $249 for Brisbane months in advance.

    • and RHCP really know how to put on a show

      • It was mediocre tbh. Half good, half yawn.

        • a real shame, Suncorp poor sound put me off. Problem is now some of these bands who were amazing are just out there to make a living, if they get into it they put on a good show so some are good some are not. I've seen most at their peak so it's frustrating to go see a poor show when you remember them at their best

          • @Irishness: Depends on the promoter sometimes. Someone on Triple J or another radio station said the Oz promoters are kind of dodgy.

            • @Cave Fire: you mean the bands aren't happy?

I think the Oz promoters profit margins are a lot more than elsewhere given tkt prices, I accept getting the bands here costs more but I've also heard a lot of the equipment is hired in Australia not brought (though its only going on what I heard)

  • I'd probably leave after Amyl and The Sniffers

Thought there'd be more love for Jane's Addiction here. Lyrics to Been Caught Stealing

    • No dave navarro (though the replacement fella can play)

  • The NWA wrestling is even a bit disappointing. If you don't know about wrestling, the NWA used to be a really big name back in the 80s, with a lot of big stars that were later poached by the WWF, like Ric Flair.

In the early 2000s it had a bit of a resurgence under the TNA brand….which the now WWE has also mostly poached the stars of.

Billy Corgan bought the brand a few years back, and its reputation is in the toilet, but they have a few 'name' people still.

….all of which are not here, and the people they did bring are literally the equivalent of the dumb redneck kids wrestling in local Wal-Mart car-parks, absolute no-names.

    • Seeing it live is cool though. Went to an amateur's league match a while back for a bucks party in Brisbane around Newstead. Rey mysterio type character did a jumping drop kick from top rope into someone standing on the ground.

      • Yeah I mean the local scene is fine when you're local. When it's purportedly a tour from an American (somewhat) big name (they do have some former WWE guys), it's a bit disappointing none of them were brought over.

  • I'm going for Jane's. It'll be worth every cent.

  • "The ozbargain special": The Qld concert is held at Broadwater Parklands. Was going for a jog during the recent "Swell" concert with Ben Harper and people were listening outside the fences. Couple boats pulled up as well. I'll be trying that… There may be a couple of decent elevated vantage points as well. Guessing you could get the same view that you would during a stadium show.
