Alba AL4195X1 Automatic Stainless Steel Sports Watch 42mm - $89 Delivered @ Shiels

290

Been thinking about this Alba ‘Batgirl’ since @rosebank posted about it last month

It is now on clearance at Shiels for $89 and qualifies for free shipping (or you can c and c).

Not bad for a a Japanese Y676 automatic movement from a sub-brand of Seiko.

I would normally say I would prefer @watchnerds favourite Sd1970 but I already have one coming from his last deal.

  • Nice looking watch. Can someone that owns one of this tell us their opinion on quality? I don't expect anything over the top. But the price is right!

    • I think @rosebank does actually have one.. or two

      • +1

@rosebank I think he owns pretty much everything 😄 I wouldn't be surprised if he owns a Rollex too

        • +1

I have a Rollex Daytoma which I bought from a totally legit vendor in Vietnam 15 years ago. I'm willing to let it go for 20K

          • @rosebank: Hahaha I knew it. Good on you mate. Don't sell it, keep it in the collection. What's your opinion on this post watch? It's definitely good price.

            • @Scrooge McDeal: Someone managed to get $20 off first order. If you can add something to make it 100, like the casio clock posted below by @WatchNerd and get it from Graham's, then I think it's a great deal if you want a watch in this style that isn't total garbage

              • @rosebank: It looks nice, and I like the band too. What I am thinking is maybe hold for another deal with a much better quality watch. Like the Tissot you managed to grab for a bargain price.

                • @Scrooge McDeal: That was a total fluke and won't happen again anytime soon. DJs has extra 20% off now but it's all fashion watches.

                  • @rosebank: I will be patient. Hopefully another fluke comes around. If that happens please p.m me. I just want to buy one Tissot.

      • +1

Nah, I don't have any Albas

  • But no sapphire crystal or ceramic bezel 😉

    • +1

      well its seiko's poverty line

and seiko dont even use ceramic and want you to pay $500+ for sapphire

      also it runs a 7s26 so…

    • Yes I know the sd1970 is unbeatable value

  • Now that's a brand I haven't heard in ages. I love their Pogues.

  • +2

Nice looking watch. It also has an exhibition caseback which you can see in this youtube video.

    • +1

Yeah, you’re right, I would be stupid not to buy it. I’ll just tell the misso it was from Ali express too

      • +1

Ha, another option in this price range is the Tandorio. It's expired but still only ~A$95.60 delivered + 4.5% cashrewards.

I like the black dial, no logo.

    • Thanks for the video @WatchNerd.

After grabbing an SD1970, not sure I can justify this at $80 (with the $20 voucher trick). I'm not a fan of uneven coloured bezels but I actually like the blue in this. And also, it seems atleast from your video, the date is in Portuguese which would make this a great beater for when I move over there by the end of the year..

Edit: Huh, too late anyway.. Both Graham's and Shiels both showing OOS.

      • Haha good joke. The date wheel alternates.

        • Yeah no, I get that now.. 😅

I got a bit of a shock when I first went to set up that white $30 Casio from a couple months ago.. What in the devil, I couldn't remember my spanish days of the week either, but then it clicked over to English and crisis averted.. 😅

Same price at Grahams Jewellers. Unless they’re the same shop?

    Great price regardless. Very tempted.

    • At Grahams you save $20 off your first purchase when you sign up. Does that make the watch $69?

      • Just checked, it’s $20 off first purchase of $100+, doesn’t seem to say that it has to be full priced items. So can bring it down to $80 if you can find something that’s exactly $11?

      • No because - Code applies to your next purchase over $100

        • +1

Oh, I got excited for a second.

          https://www.grahamsjewellers.com.au/sterling-silver-plain-10…

Cheapest item right now on the site I believe?

Total $104, take $20 off so $84 for the watch plus you get some random junk earrings.

Edit: actually their clearance section has a lot of items for $11.99 which brings it to $100.99, take $20 off so pay $80.99 for the watch and some random junk. Worth?!

@Dr Fruit: Or get a Casio clock for free - $19.95.

            • @WatchNerd: Tempting… Just bought a Samsung Galaxy watch5 Pro LTE for $326 from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770309
              What a bargain.
Shall I buy this too? My bank account won't be happy, but I will be.

              • +1

@Scrooge McDeal: Up to you bro. FYI it doesn't have handwinding or hacking but it's $89 delivered.

              • +1

                @Scrooge McDeal: Time will tell!

              • @Scrooge McDeal: How are you liking the Watch 5? I had a Watch 4 and sold it within a month

                • @rosebank: I have just ordered it yesterday for $326 bargain right? For the Samsung galaxy watch5 Pro LTE. I got it from Samsung store online, so hopefully it arrives. I heard a lot of bad things about their customer service. Fingers crossed 🤞 it arrives in a reasonable time frame

                  • @Scrooge McDeal: It's cool and everything, but (profanity) charge everyday, sometimes twice. And I didn't use half the functions. I guess if you want to go phoneless, then yeah, kinda worth it. Do you have to pay for a plan for the e-sim? or just add it to you phone plan?

                    • @rosebank: With Vodafone, Telstra you just add it to the plan for an extra $5 per month. I am not sure about with other Telcos support this. But definitely Vodafone and Telstra. You still have the option to just use Bluetooth if you decide not to use the esim.

                      • +1

@Scrooge McDeal: Yeah, but you got the LTE so might as well use it. I wear a fitness band most of the time, Fitbit Charge 4 (saved my wrist in motorcycle accident RIP lil homie, Mi Band 6? and now Huawei band 7. Does what I need for a smartwatch and charge once a week.

      • So, has anyone been successful using the discount? Where is the sign up page anyway?

    • I'm pretty shure Grahams, Shiels, and Watch Depot are all owned by the same co

  • Seems like a good quality watch it doesn't really stand out

  • Looks like it has Seiko compatible parts? Get someone to change the face for something with Seiko brand and you might end up in front.

    • Probably better off doing that with the Tandorio for virtually the same price after cashback.

  • Thanks OP. Got one. Used the $20 off first order too. Cheers!

    • I don't see the $20 first order thing anywhere?

      • Wondering where is the link myself.

        Nvm. Found it: https://www.grahamsjewellers.com.au/vip-signup

        • Is this like within 5 minutes of signup thing or does someone need to approve it first?

      • You might need to open up the page in an incognito tab to see the pop up

    • What $20 off ?

      • Go incognito or open the website on a new browser, this comes up as a sign up bonus.

  • Grahams and Shiels both OOS.

    • ta, marked as expirued

i dout it will restock as it was on clearance

i would say like rosebank said, Grahams, Shiels, and Watch Depot look to be the same - their systems are probably not interlinked it sounds like (or inventory issue).
