    Any warranty?

    • +8

      great monitor but 8 years old and used is a bit of concern!
      any warranty would be great to have, peace of mind.

      • +2

        Yeah - that was kinda my thinking.
        Dell doesn't offer 90% off deals for new monitors anymore.

      • These are definitely from an office. They were probably used 8hrs/day 5/day/week for about 4 years, then not much in the last few years.

        So probably around 8000 hours of use on them.

        • +1

          hey were probably used 8hrs/day 5/day/week for about 4 years, then not much in the last few years.

          Or, they could've been bought right before Covid and sat in an empty office for the most of their lives, and you are now getting an almost new $1500 monitor for less than $300.

      • The ones form the UN Tech deal were all supposed to be 2018 Manufactured - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/759914
        I had two from that, both were June 2018. The one I have kept is currently at 1867hrs, which is 233 days at 8hrs use per day.

        It would be good if the MetroCom rep could offer any advise on production dates.

        • +3

          Hi same 2018 manufactured.

          • @MetroCom: Thanks for clarification - ordered one based on this comment.

          • +1

            @MetroCom: Doesn't the 15 in the model number mean it was built in 2015?

            • +1

              @BigTacoBandit: No, just that the model was first released in 2015.

      • dell was already making curve monitors 8 years ago?
        though curve only been a thing in the last few years

  • What would be a good stand replacement or arm to pair up with this?

    • +3
      • Great recommendation, love mine.

      • +1

        Highly recommend getting the H100 over F100 if your desk is against a wall, you'll thank me later. - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13467155/redir

        • +1

          Thanks, good to note.
          Other points of difference:
          F100A Max Length (rear to Monitor) - 650mm, Max Height (Base to VESA Centre) - 530mm, Vertical Articulation - 345mm
          H100B Max Length (rear to Monitor) - 550mm, Max Height (Base to VESA Centre) - 485mm, Vertical Articulation - 250mm

        • I think many users with the h100 had problems with large curved screens. Screen mounts Australia recommended I use an f100a instead. Mine are 5kg 32" curved screens

          • @bawls: No issues with my Dell P3421W 34" curved 6.7kg

      • Thanks for the tip, just ordered one

    • +1

      I actually recommend dell msa20. So easy to install. Snaps straight into dell monitors. No screws. Mine is solid as a rock.
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/275747387330

      • Hell of a price difference though.

      • Might as well get a brand new ultra wide monitor if you are buying rhat mount.

      • Mount costs nearly as much as a monitor!

  • -5

    what 60hz in 2023

    (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

    also probably not wide enough

    • +1

      Perfectly fine for the majority of us working from home and employers aren't supplying external screens

      I have a 60hz on each side of my main in vertical (for documents, teams, etc) and they are great

      • -1

        should just buy a tv they're way better lol

  • +3

    $299 pass

    • +4

      Yes, this is too high a price for what are possibly 8 yr old monitors.

      You will be up for $299 + ($30-$50) for a stand to make one functional. All for a monitor that could have over 10,000 hours run time under its belt.

      You can get a brand new Dell S3422DW for $650 or less and it has better specs.

      If there was information that showed these were significantly younger than 8 years old, then perhaps it could be worth the gamble with the eBay Plus discount.

      • +1

        You can get a brand new Dell S3422DW for $650 or less and it has better specs.

        For that you are better of with the S3423DWC

        If there was information that showed these were significantly younger than 8 years old

        Rep has confirmed these are manufactured in 2018.

      • -1

        You can get a brand new Dell S3422DW for $650 or less and it has better specs.

        What specs specifically? The S is the base model, and the U series is the top of the line

        • @1st-Amendment: Improvements in the S3422DW:
          * Faster refresh rate : 100Hz vs 60Hz
          * Faster grey-to-grey
          * Much better contrast
          * Lower power consumption, 31W vs 55W
          Then everything else is equal even though it is a VA panel vs. older IPS
          * sRGB coverage, both 99%
          * viewing angle (actually the S3422DW has slightly better vertical viewing angle)
          * brightness
          * pixel pitch
          * etc.

          • @airtime:

            Faster refresh rate : 100Hz vs 60Hz

            As an office type monitor(100Hz is still too low for gaming) is this a real benefit? Smoother mouse movement maybe?

            • Much better contrast

            Yeah, it's VA, so that is also seen as a negative to some.

            One difference missed, U3415W curve is 3800R, whereas most newer monitors, S3422DW included are 1800R. Personal preference will come in here, but generally 1800r is preferred these days. That said, I haven't used anything but the U3415W and find it fine for spreadsheets with text on the far edges.

            If however you compare it against the S3423DWC I recommend, then you can ad 65W USDB-C PD, and built in KVM, on top of what the S3422DW has.

          • @airtime: Probably worth considering that these things are not always 'better'.
            Gaming suits fast refresh, high contrast etc but if you are staring at spreadsheets all day you probably prefer the opposite.
            I have a gaming monitor and an U3419W side by side, and each is 'better' at that what they do. There is a reason the U series exists, and it's not to play games.

  • how can this same monitor deal rated 125+ a month ago, now only like this? :) Just the stand?

  • If you had your own vesa stand already, guess this is good deal? It would be hard to chase an original stand for it though.

    • pick up a north bayou arm

  • nice 😉 +1

  • Was thinking of upgrading kid's U2719D (hand-me-down from me), but feels like a downgrade. :D

    1440p? That size? :/

    Well the price is correct at least.

      In this thread….

      Poor people with bad eyes

  • FWIW…I've bought plenty of Tech from the poster Jun, both privately and through Metrocom - recommended as a Seller…prices usually are extremely good and no rip offs with shipping charges…

    • I agree, I bought a second hand tiny PC from them. It arrived DOA, they shipped out a replacement ASAP and I just had to return the DOA one with their supplied shipping label.

  • -1

    it's only 60hrtz

    • +1

      60Hz was fine for everyone until fairly recently. Why does everyone now assume it's crap just because higher rates are now readily available?

      • Just OZB's general target audience. People forget there are other use cases for IT products than just gaming. Why would you need 240hz for excel or home office work scenarios?

        • +1

          I heard a higher refresh rate is better for your eyes.

          • @Sierras89:

            I heard a higher refresh rate is better for your eyes.

            Home office work scenarios do not typically involve any moving images, so the refresh rate is immaterial.

            In the old CRT days even the static images would flicker, so back then the refresh rate was a concern for your eyes (I believe plasma flickers, too). With LCD monitors and mostly static images (spreadsheets, coding, even photo editing) it won't make any difference.

            • @bio: I see, thanks for your information : )

  • Any idea if the stand for S3422DW would be compatible with this?

  • I've got one of these purchased new from about 2016, and it's still a good everyday monitor. Good colour, average contrast, average brightness (up to about 300 nits), low reflections, and a really excellent all-rounder for office use as the primary goal. The inbuilt speakers are completely lacking bass but they are good enough to get by. If a brand new VA 100hz 34" 3440x1440 monitor is on sale down at $500, that'd be the better buy, but for under $300 this is still good value as long as the monitors are in good condition.

  • I wonder what the story is with the missing stands, maybe they were used in a dual monitor config and were set up with a dual monitor stand or something. Or used in a video wall or something equally odd? Mystery.

    Maybe they are just too hard to ship economically/safely with the stand?

    Edit: Looks like another ebay seller "un-tech" are selling the same monitors with a generic stand for $345 (minus $20 if you have an ebay voucher).

    • All the monitors in my office end up on dual stands. IT in their wisdom then decided to throw all of those perfectly fine Dell stands out.
      I grabbed a few before they were all trashed.

      • sounds about right… I don't think many offices see any value in tech at end of life, probably of negative value due to disposal costs in some cases.

  • 80 Hz (rather than 60Hz) is possible to enable via GPU driver. Google it you will find out.

    • Not finding much luck on Google - any chance you could explain or provide a link?

      • I used NVIDIA custom flashing rate to achieve 80hz.

        • Found some reviews on Amazon mentioning overclocking to 80hz using NVIDIA control panel, but apparently it just drops frames and is not true 80hz.

  • I used NVIDIA custom flashing rate to achieve 80hz.

  • Not that I'm likely to buy one of these monitors, but I was wondering about using old Dell stands from smaller 16:9 and 4:3 monitors that might have a compatible click in stand, the biggest issue is whether those stands would firstly support the larger screen, and secondly whether the height adjustment would be enough for the monitor to physically fit the maximum height of the stand without hitting the stand base .

    For instance the 4:3 20" Dell I have has a maximum extension of about 38cm from the top surface of the stand base to the top of the square that slots into the back of the monitor. I wonder if this would be enough clearance, it obviously wouldn't be able to be as height adjustable as the genuine stand but in my case I have a two tiered desk and my monitor sits on the upper tier so doesn't need much height adjustment anyway. Base footing is 38cm wide.

    The second stand I have is from a 16:9 23" Dell and this has a maximum extension of about 32cm from the top surface of the stand base to the top of the square that slots into the back of the monitor. I suspect this stand would may not offer enough extension to fit the 34" and the footing width is perhaps inadequate at 28cm wide.

    If anyone has one of these 34" monitors, what is the required clearance from top of stand base to the top of the square attachment?

    • I put one of these stands onto a Dell JAR-DG stand for DP2319H a 27" monitor that is 3.2kg & DP2719H, a 27" monitor that is 4.3kg.
      The predicable occurred, the 34" monitor over weighed its design, so it when straight to the bottom, which was actually good as I wanted to test it at exactly that point to see if I would run two 34", one stacked on top of the other.

      You can see of this monitors dimensions/measurements here - https://dl.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_display_proj…

      • Thanks for that. Yeah it looks like both my stands would probably fit with a little wiggle room, but the weight is something I hadn't considered with regards to the stand slide tension. With the existing monitors attached, both only need less than 2kg of additional pressure to make the monitor drop, and the screens only weigh around 4kg or something, which is quite a bit less than the 8.4kg of the 34 inch Dell. I wonder if the riser tension on Dell stands can be adjusted or if they just put a particular size spring in to accommodate the monitor weight.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one for my WFH setup. Already have a 34" gaming monitor and looking forward to having 2 x 34" monitors.

  • want to try ultrawide but haven't figured out how to set it up with 2 27 4k monitors.

    Received, manufactured Feb 2016. Doesn't seem to be 2018 as claimed by store rep.

    • +1

      Contact them.
      If you want to see how many hours it has been in:

      1) Power off
      2) Hold/cover the 2 left-most buttons
      3) Power on
      4) Press left-most button for service menu

      • Hmm, have tried this but can't seem to get it to work. Holding the left two buttons and then pressing the power on does nothing. Buttons all work individually though…

    • Received mine the other day. Manufactured August 2018 with 3100 hours

  • How do I check the manufacture date and the time used?
