  • Got the camel3 alert, and was just about to post… great deal, picked one up!

    Bargain. Amazing pad.

  • +1

Thanks OP, just in time for Tears of The Kingdom next week.

    • +2

What do you mean next week? It's been leaked already.

      • +15

Call me old fashioned, but reading forum posts and watching leaked gameplay footage isn’t the same as experiencing a game for yourself.

        • +1

Well, in fact you can actually experience the leak game yourself. But I wouldn't recommend anyone to do that though.

  • what games do you use this with mostly?

    • +6

It's my 'Main' default Switch controller, so everything there. 😃

Platformers and JRPG's on PC thanks to the handy toggle on the back..

    • +2

      Retroarch on nvidia shield

    • +1

I use it more than my Switch Pro controller.

    • CEMU, Yuzu, more retro emulators, driving sections in PC games like Cyberpunk 2077.

  • +1

Thanks OP.. got it in case my Switch Pro Controller gets drift again while playing TOTK.. Great price!!!

  • Do these drift over time?

What's the feel like in general compared to say a ps5 dual sense and how's the battery?

    • Wow. Guess next time just buy first ask questions later.. OOS

    • +7

Never had drift on mine - then again I must be one of the luckiest people out there since I've never experienced drift on any Joycon/ official pad either so.. :/

A lot less weighty, the feel is great though if you're like me and prefer the thumbsticks being symmetrical like that instead of the diagonal thing that the Xbox/Steam/Pro ones have.

One of the best battery life's I've had in a pad, I vaguely remember to charge it every other week.
My only complaint is that the Dpad can feel a little floaty or loose over time, almost like it isn't seated properly?
Never caused a drama in a game but I much prefer something like the Dualsense's Dpad rock solid design that can't move.

      • Yeah we had(still have) drift in our joycon. Some spray has helped but it's come back

I pulled apart a Nintendo pro controller that had drift and was able to clean it up so it doesn't drift anymore at least for now been good for months since.

Yeah I definitely prefer the symmetrical sticks as a long time PS player. I can use the other style but prefer this.

Thanks! I'll grab it next time without asking questions hehe

    • +2

Don't think this has Hall Effect joysticks so it will eventually get drift.

      • Yeah OK. For 40 bucks I'd probably consider that okay heh.

      • +2

It has the potential to drift. I don’t think it’s a guarantee just because it’s not a Hall effect.
I’ve used many different controllers and have had drift with an Xbox One, some cheap switch one and of course JoyCons.
My PS4, Wii U, Switch Pro and 8Bitdos haven’t had drift

        • +2

Fair point. My ps4 controller has never drifted. And my older ps3s and older never did either.

  • +1

Oos when i was trying to check out :(

    damn missed

  • I guess if you grew up using controllers it wouldn't matter much but for me the dark text labels on a black background make me wish I had bought a grey one.

Also I am crap with a controller; anyone have a suggestion for a good simple game to help me develop "controller reflexes" ? Cheers

If you're used to xbox layout, the X/Y and A/B are flipped.

Can't recommend a game but just keep playing! I think arcade games might be good though.

      • +1

If you connect to Switch, the layout will be Nintendo layout (as labeled on the controller)
If you connect to a PC, the default is the Xbox layout (i.e. the buttons don't correspond to what's labeled)
You can remap them and save them to one of the three profiles which is what I do. I'm used to the Nintendo layout

    • What? Gaming isn't meant to be like a sport (unless you're twitching away on an eSports title). Just play whatever games you already like playing, but with the controller!

(I find racing games are particularly apt to being played with a controller).

    • +1

      Rollerdrome.

  • For PC gaming, what is the best controller to use? This one?

    • +2

I have one of these, and much prefer my Xbox Series X controller on PC over it. not entirely sure why. this controller is a great replacement for a switch pro controller, though.

    • I'd be going for something with an Xbox layout. I've been thinking of the 8bitdo ultimate.

I currently use a DualSense 5 with Steam input, so a replacement hasn't been high on the list of priorities.

    • +1

      Xbox is Microsoft….

I find the xbox controller better for shoorters but this is way better for emulation. The build quality is really good.

    • One with magnetic sticks

  • what about the White edition?

    • Only Black is discounted.

  • FYI, this isn't a historical low. It's been $35 for all colours from Kogan before. But not likely to see that price again with inflation so $40 is a good deal

  • Can this work on xbox one?
