    Wow these are nostalgic

Got Michaelangelo as a gift when i started school in 1991

    • Yep these are sick, though I still have my originals!

      • +1

        You're rich!

        • Well they're not exactly BNIB or anything, more like…very well used by ten year-old me!

  • +9

shredder looks like he is wearing a purple ball gown several sizes too small

    • +1

      Hahaha. Classic 👏🏻

  • Wow as a kid I begged my mum to buy me these teenage mutant ninja turtle figurines too lol

    • +3

My mum gave my collection of these toys (which were at her place), away to other kids
in true OzB style (ie. she didn't want to buy presents when attending b'day parties, and just gifted my toys away)

      • haha nice but did the people getting the toys know its not brand new and used? =p

        • +1

My mum doesn't care what other kids thought of what she gave them.
As long as she had something to give, that's all that mattered.
She just wanted to $ave… and not buy presents.

I had the Turtle Blimp and some other TMNT toys, given away.
(Also, gave away M.A.S.K. toys, He-Man, etc.)

          • +3

            @whyisave: I miss M.A.S.K.! They would be awesome in a retro-re-release!

      • My mum mostly just threw all my treasures away over the years, sometimes she sold my stuff to my friends without my knowledge.

        • Sounds like they both have the same personality trait

          • @whyisave: Born with the OzBargain gene activated

  • How’s their quality? Acceptable?

I still own these mini figures from the 90s

    • +2

I've got the turtles, they are decent enough but the belts are a little poorly constructed. E.g. on our Mikey his belt is prone to coming undone.

Also need to be a little careful taking the weapons out.

Keep in mind they are for our 4y/o boy, so we are hardly collectors :)

      • +4

That cheeky, Mikey! Tell him to keep his belt and weapon to himself, lol.

      • +4

        The originals weren't any better.

        • I thought that depends on luck… if you got a shitter quality figurine then well… luck I guess

        • +1

I still have my originals from the late 80's/early 90's and they are going strong. My kid still plays with them. Nothing broken after a third of a century.

          • @CaptainLeezee: Nobody said anything about them being broken. The comment was about the belt coming undone easily etc.

    • +1

Just curious how did you find out the stock level?

      • +1

        Collector's tricks ;-)

Keep adding 1 to cart until it won't allow you any longer O.O

          • +2

@thecloudking: Back in one of the crypo mining booms, I used to work at a PC hardware retailer.
Policy is always not to tell someone your stock on hand, but if they asked how many to confirm how many they wanted and whether or not you could fill the order.

I had someone do this to me while I was on the phone and they were trying to buy out my stock of a model of graphics card that was considered good for mining.
They just kept adding them to cart until it wouldn't let him, then asked for specifically that amount.

I got caught in a stampede at Target when these were released back in the 80's. Even adults were pushing us kids out of the way and snatching them out of our hands. Pure chaotic blissful memories. Nice one OP

Had a similar experience at a K-Mart, sometime after the initial craze. They were having a sale and massive amounts of TMNT figures in one large square box. The only one of note that I came away with was Metalhead. But I had a lot of the figures, the main TMNT, Splinter, Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady, April and a few extras (Rat King, Baxter Stockman, Leatherhead, a foot solider that Rabbit samurai ? (forgotten the name and yes I call myself a TMNT fan lol). Only had a few TMNT accessories like the van, that ooze trap… but my favourite was the TMNT motorcycle - reenacted the Terminator 2 chase sequence with that so many times!!!!

Got my primary school friend a Michaelangelo that had a rotation movement when you wound him up…. he took it to primary school one day and someone broke it! Oh and a semi related (TMNT) hit of nostalgia. The TMNT 2 Secret of the Ooze movie was a constant theme for birthday parties at the time (saw it so many times at the cinema as a result haha). Places like Target were also giving away free movie passes, so I saw it a few more times than I probably should have.

I recall seeing the figures get re-released with subtle differences over the last 10-15 years (Toys R US and K-Mart sold different variations).

      • Crazy times. Good time to be alive I say ;)

      • that Rabbit samurai ?

        Usagi Yojimbo

  • Oh my god, I loved these as a kid even though I always thought they looked a bit crook. Had so many of them too for some reason! Baseball Raph was my all-time fave

  • +3

Tonight i dine on Turtle soup

  • +4

now they have to release ghostbusters toys!

  • back in the 80/90's were stuff still being 'made in china' ?

    • +1

I recall a lot of my 80s toys having made in Taiwan or ROC on them. When I met my wife and she said she was from Taiwan that was the only thing I knew about Taiwan. They made my fav toys.
I work in a public school so we still have kids toys and play stuff from 90s- seems made in USA was common too.

  • Great find OP. Nostalgia++

  • Would these be anywhere near the original quality?

I remmeber the original toys were so good, very detailed and good heavy plastics

    • +1

Yep - took my abuse for many years and never broke, not even the hinges.

Radical - I've still got my originals.

If you don't want to spend $100 to get the free ship, try this… I spent ages trying to find other sht to add and even considered the Party Wagon. But couldn't justify spending over $100 to satisfy my nostalgic need 😅
