About

MASTERCARD® FLIGHT DELAY PASS
In partnership with Worldwide Wallet issued with Westpac, BankSA, St.George, and Bank of Melbourne.

The number of people flying for leisure along with it, flight delays has increased over the years. Rather than let one upset your travel plans, safeguard your time with Mastercard Flight Delay Pass.

Should you encounter a delay for 120 minutes or more, you could be eligible for complimentary access to over 1,000 airport lounges in more than 100 countries with Mastercard Flight Delay Pass. Alternatively, if a lounge is unavailable, you could benefit from special dining offers at selected cafes and restaurants*. You are required to register for your flight prior to the flight's actual departure. Each leg of a multi-leg journey requires its own, separate, flight registration.

*The lounge access pass gives free access to select airport lounges, alternatively cardholders can use their lounge access pass to offset a dollar amount off the total bill at select dining options. This will vary based on location and affiliated LoungeKey Partners at the time. Click here for the list of LoungeKey airport lounge and/or dining options based on your departure airport, and the applicable terms and conditions. Once your flight has been registered, your LoungeKey pass will be sent to you via email and SMS in the event of a qualifying delay and can be used at any of the LoungeKey establishments at your departure airport.

WHO DOES THIS SERVICE COVER?
This exclusive service is complimentary for Worldwide Wallet cardholders. You can enjoy unlimited flight registrations on the Mastercard Flight Delay Pass program. In addition, you may invite one companion who is also travelling on the same flight — to join you in the lounge.

If you are under 18 years old, you must be accompanied by an adult (over 18 years of age) to enter participating lounges.

To make it simple. You need one Worldwide Wallet Mastercard from Westpac Group once you have one of those cards (I believe are free to get) you then register your flight here and if your flight has delay of 2 hour or more you get free access to the airport lounge (over 1,000 airport lounges & free food included)
I hope I made it simple.

    • One month after your experience, and yes, still a blank space after hitting submit.

    • I was able to register on 17 Oct. Try another browser?

    • With 28 Degrees, you have to use the account number on your statement (no spaces), rather than the credit card number.

  • Does delay on transit included? Or just the first leg

    • They're all included.
When you register you have to type in each leg, so if any leg gets delayed then you get a pass.

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to find the Wallet card number? I dont have the physical card on me atm..

The rules in the back end seemed to have changed
You now have to register your flight 6 hours before the initial scheduled departure time, rather than just before the initial departure time.
There is no mention of this on their website, it still says before the departure time

I tried to register my flight on the way to the airport and said that registration for the flight already closed. Flights for tomorrow still work

I have just tried to register flight that is 10 hours to the departure and could not. It says registration closed.

  • 28 degrees says” Flight Delay Pass gives you and four friends access to airport lounges, drinks and Wi-Fi if your flight is delayed1”
Is it better to get 28 degree?

    • answering myself. 28 degree is a credit card, application process is much more complicated than a westpac debit card (which is required to have the worldwide money card)
Credit card also uses borrowing capacity.

  • Any point bothering with this if I already have Amex plat and priority pass?

    • If your Amex priority pass membership allows 1 free guest and you only need one, then no point in using this. The lounges offered lounge key are pretty much same as priority pass.

  • So… so far I'll be travelling OS with these 3 cards:

Prepaid Mastercard Worldwide Wallet- for flighg delay bonuses
Wise Card- for cheapest OS Transactions
Crypto.com Card- Free Worldwide Airport Lounge Access (depending on Card level, on 1 person access, so would ultimately make this 2 person access for me).

    Comparisons of Wise and Westpac:
    https://wise.com/au/blog/28-degrees-card-vs-wise-australia

    • Ditch Wise and go with Up, Ubank or Macquarie

      • Keen tp know why please..

        • Wise has a $350 per month limit on ATM withdrawals then you hit fees if you go above that.

          • @JHoliday: so if not used for withdrawals and instead purchasing electronically are these any other benefits of those against Wise.

            • @FredAstair: Wise not covered by Australian Government deposit scheme so if they went broke (very unlikely) then any funds in there would be lost.

There have been reports in some threads that Ubank rate is lower than Wise although probably need more data points to verify that.

              • @JHoliday: regarding u bank. keen to here more when you find out about it.

                Australian Government deposit scheme

i thought that was more for home loans.

Have claimed this and used the airport lounge after a 3 hour delay with my flight. Thanks OP!

Encountered the most useless rep on the phone when I was delayed in Vietnam two days ago, said he couldn’t help me because he couldn’t see the flight was delayed, but said to send through the info so he could manually issue passes and despite me sending screenshots and pictures at the airport didn’t get anything. Ended up spending 7 hours at the airport with no air conditioning and then received a message with the lounge passes……..at 2am when we had boarded the plane and were about to take off.

For me it’s ok as I’ll use my pass another time but the ones for my parents will go to waste as they don’t travel often enough to use it before they expire.

  • Does this work if the flight is cancelled?

    • +2

One my registered flights was cancelled and I did not get a lounge pass.

      • Dang! Thanks for sharing.
