You'll get deported to Turkiye
türkiyeye hoş geldin kardeşim
Holy inek!
The end is near. I've started building a media server so I can do away with Netflix all together.
Arr, jellyfin and jellyseer ftw
I use Jellyfin but haven't heard of jellyseer. After some googling, I see it mentioned that jellyseer handles media requests?
What does that mean? Like if I have my jellyfin server open to family/ friends, they can use jellyseer to search for titles I don't have and request them? Like it will send me an email with their request?
Almost there.
Jellyseerr will link to your jellyfin library. When users search for stuff they want that is not already in your library they can request it. Provided you've setup the appropriate *arrs, once the request is approved (can be configured to auto approve based on user) it will connect to the appropriate *arr services which should search and grab it - assuming you've setup your providers etc.
Without the *arr integration you'll still end up with a big list of titles people want you can manually process if that suits your workflow better.
@peetah: Thanks for clarifying. That actually sounds super handy
Hmm check out Sonarr and Radarr
Can I get a subscription?
My suspicion is yes it will.
BUT the way I read the original announcement, provided you log in from your home address (IP) once every 30 days you should "reset the clock".
So potentially just jumping back onto VPN and logging in every 30 days will do the trick.
Netflix is gonna lose a lot of customers and they will suddenly backtrack on their statement, "actually, sharing is caring….".
This hasn't happened yet. I think Netflix is on their 3rd or 4th wave of rolling this change out?
Yep they've been trialling it in smaller markets for the last year before rolling it out to the rest of the world. Apparently there's a wave of initially cancellations but then it stabilises and they're on with that.
To look at the silver lining, it does make for some easier account sharing. You get your own password and account as an extra user.
The downside is it's only 2 extra people allowed per account - so at best you can pay $39 a month for 3 people on a 4K account, $13 each. Which is at least vaguely reasonable in price compared to their $23 a month they ask for now.
So if you're a lonely widow who wants the 4K Netflix and you want to share it with your two children who are off at boarding school or whatever, you need to pay $39 a month? Seems a bit much just for three family members to share a single streaming service.
Yup, it's pretty rubbish. Pip and Tom should share a Prime account to have something to watch and order their conkers with free shipping.
Personally I wish they'd just make it per user accounts at this price. The entire thing seems to assume the account will be shared somehow and it's a ridiculously overpriced service for one person (I gave it up long ago, it costs more than Apple TV+ and Disney+ combined to get 4K). But now assuming everyone uses the sharing to the max amount of people:
Basic - $10.99
Standard - $12.50 per person if shared
Ultra - $13 per person if shared
That's a reasonable extra price to pay for the extra quality.
The downside is it's only 2 extra people allowed per account
Thanks for pointing this out.
Nah, it’s all good, according to jv, everyone will just move over to their own paid subscription.
Anybody point to a simple setup guide for tailscale?
https://tailscale.com/kb/1017/install/. Setup account, install app, setup, done. Then share via media via plex or something.
ZeroTier is basically the same thing but has easier to read documentation though - https://docs.zerotier.com/getting-started/getting-started/
Needing to pay for four screens to get 4K is BS.
Going to miss getting CROback for Netflix. Oh well.
Netflix pushing for us to go back 10 years to torrenting
The smart ones never left.
personally I never really left it completely but let's face it, streaming for a few bucks is a lot easier and hassle free.
I have set up torrent directly within my Google TV, but still find it a bit fiddly compared to simple streaming - which I am happy to use as long as it doesnt cost crazy bucks
Ill be leaving Netflix becasue without passowrd sharing it's just nor worth it
I wonder if using NordVPN meshnet would work and make you look like your in the same location?
LTT has a video on how to get around it easy.
Link? Pretty please?

C'mon man, I literally searched "LTT netflix" and it's the first result.
@Mechz: sorry did not realise you meant on youtube thought it was some website lol
