Found this while trying to find filter for the Hario Switch Immersion Dripper. Seems to drop in and out of availability but I was able to purchase it. If it doesn't show maybe keep refreshing until it works? Both seem to be a lot more expensive anywhere else.

  • Awesome price! I would have bought one but already have the switch.

    • This will be the 3rd dripper thing I bought in a few days. Just got the switch from that earlier deal. Bought this hoping to use it with the switch but it looks like it's a stand alone thing. Sounds like it makes coffee with a stronger/deeper flavour? That's more me so I'm just going to keep it. Also can use without filter papers which is great. I also bought a bodum dripper a few days ago.

      • Haha Ive been slowly collecting them as well. I had the ceramic v60 before I got the switch and have a Timemore one on its way to have a go with a flat dripper.

      • Wouldn't aeropress be stronger/bolder flavour than drip coffee?

        • Possibly. We only started doing drip coffee again recently as the grinder in our coffee machine broke. I bought a new grinder that lets us adjust the grind size and my wife wanted to drink drip coffee. We made one for her and it was good. I used to drink a lot of drip coffee so we've been doing drip coffee ever since.

I didn't really read too much about this dripper before I bought it and while it won't work for what I wanted initially I think it could still be worthwhile trying it. I would prefer to not have to use filter paper for every cup of coffee we make. Hoping it is better than the other mesh metal dripper I have. The holes do seem finer.

  • How does the mesh compare to the ceramic dripper with paper filter?

    • +1

I expect paper filters to give better clarity and depth. Also would need to experiment and see whether this would work at all with medium-fine grinds - have my doubts on this.

    • I prefer paper but it's marginal and subjective.
Beans and grind is more important as well as technique.
With at least this device you don't need to keep buying paper which is a big plus in the long run.
