So after the Gundam buying frenzy I bet a few of us need some tools to help assemble them.

While you actually don't need anything to build gunpla, you generally get a much nicer finish if you have scalpels, sidecutters, sanders, etc.

This kit seems identical to the one 14k+ reviews here and normally retails for around $19

  • There's always one of these kits going for around the $10 mark

  • perfect for the switch mod

    • which switch mod?

      • The one

      • all switch mods

  • cheap. just checked temu and exact same item is $11.48

  • also i just put it here not new post, but if anyone want the stand/holder for some flying poses, there is $1.48/ each on temu
just search gundam, or action figure holder stand something like that

    • wtf is temu? I do need stands though.

      • the one that ppl going crazy about in 2023
        just google it

      • +1

Basically AliExpress except less stuff and faster shipping.

        • +1

and much better overall, and cheaper! and no gst and free shipping over $29 and guaranteed delivery date or $5 for you
and there is auto price matching feature, you click they tell you if the price drop after you bought last week for example, and refund instant.
          how good is that !

  • Saw that last night. Maybe I will wait to see if the current tools at home would do the job. Good price

I just borrow the wife's nail filers.

  • Is this good for cleaning up 3D prints as well? I've seen recommended to get deburring tools.

    • +1

Nah, much of that stuff is not useful for cleaning up prints.

Anyone who owns a printer already has the flat cut snips, the straight tweezers are useful, but the deburring tool to use is hooked like this one:

      https://3dprintersuperstore.com.au/products/deburring-tool-s…

The straight edged blades and the files in the original deal are pretty useless for 3D printed objects.

  • OOS

  • Damnnnnnnn OOS!!!

Next cheapest is this. But only recommended for ages ‎833 years and up… Way too young for this listing.

    • OP's listing is better if you want your 10-month old building your gunpla for you. Manufacturer's recommended age: ‎10 months and up

    • only recommended for ages ‎833 years and up…

      Do they sell many?

      • It's a lucky thing I'm a 845 year old Time Lord from Gallifrey, but a wasted deal on me since my sonic screw driver does a better job.

  • Do you need this kit to build or just nice to have ?

    • someone said some cheap cutter from bunnings will do.
plus some cheap sand papers you may already have anyway

  • We need more deals from Amazon Japan.🤣

  • Best Products You DON’T Need

  • Damn oos!!!

  • I've already got the side cutters and tweezers, do i need the X-acto knife and stuff? I know nothing about these gundam kits but have 5 in the post lol

    • +1

Don't really need to, but having a good pair of plastic nippers / single blade will help reduce the gundam plastic stress marks

    • To elaborate on what chorong is saying: If you use your nippers too close to the sprue, nearest to the part you're cutting, you'll notice the plastic might deform or discolor from the compression of the nippers.

The solution is to nip the part further up the sprue and then use your knife to cut away the excess.

      • wow i have no idea about those
        reminder to myself:
need to watch some youtube when the packages arrives on how to cut gundam kits

Imagine if you're a seller and you had these tools sitting around for months

Then suddenly you get your entire stock for months disappear in seconds

You'd be like wtf …. da fk

    • I wonder how sellers make money on these. Surely people aren't dying to buy these kits (there's millions on Ali, Amazon, ebay) whats the profit margin on these? And how would you store so many other, slow-selling stock?

      • +1

The mark up is huge on these

They cost like $1-2 from aliexpress on sale so if you get it from the factory in bulk the cost should be low if you take advantage of shipping in bulk

        • hmm i dont think 1-2 for the whole 9 sets. probably that is for new user something like that.

      • -1

I wonder how sellers make money on these.

If they make $1 profit, and only sell to 0.001% of people in the world once per year, then they would make $80K on just this one item !!!

      • +1

It's drop shipping business model so seller does not keep physical stock themselves. They just take on orders and the manufacturer sends it out.

  • Could also just get it from ebay for $9.50 and free postage vs paying more from amazon and temu etc

    • link? i found like $14-ish
also found 9.99 but with $4.99 shipping and that is from china for sure

There are quite a few around that price with free shipping good luck =)

        • nope all i found is with $4.99 shipping
im plus member i have $5 off voucher but they are not plus item

          • @CyberMurning: I wonder if ebay is doing a dodgy if you arent logged in? They list free postage until you sign in. Dodgy bastards seems like false advertising.

            • @Vyviel: I was always logged in it was on laptop.
Now with mobile same link it goes to ebay app (also loggedin). And still i see 4.99 postage

              • @CyberMurning: Yeah me too when I logged in. If you are logged out it shows free postage. So ebay are being scammers lol As soon as you log in to buy it they add the postage costs to the page.

                • @Vyviel: oh i tought the other way round.. hmm weird anyway i made offer of $5 lol lets see
with postage i rather get from temu, got some credit overthere

                  • @CyberMurning: Haha they might bargain I have seen these kits around for what feels like the last decade or so. I remember buying one a long long time ago for my model making and crafts.

                    • @Vyviel: funny is have similar pliers from $2 shop,
one sheet of sandpaper somewhere im sure,
1 tweezer from my aquarium hobby,
also a normal cutter form officework.
so i dont really need to buy haha
