Zyron Powerpod 140W Disaster - Doesn't Work and Support Not Replying to Any Emails

I bought the Zyron Gan Charger from a deal on OZB, I bought the 140W charger (which was not one of the chargers listed on here). I had bought the charger for travel purposes, I'm due to fly out next week. Their website had a couple of good reviews on it, which made the purchase decision a lot easier.

Since receiving the charger, the power output cannot charge a laptop. I tried to contact them via their chat and for each message I would get a response about 3 days later, which doesn't address the query I had asked instead asking me to refer to the markings on the charger. I finally contacted support via their email and I'm still waiting on a response. I'm assuming that I'll get a canned response if I do get a response, and I have to wait another couple of days for another response and in that time I would have flown out and I would be over the 30 days return policy.

I feel the charger pretty much belongs in the bin now. Just thought I would drop a message on OZB regarding this company since they had advertised on here for the charger. I'd like to support an aussie company, but this imho is terrible from Zyron.

I bought the deskpod one. It felt it was a refurbished return cause the package was all messed up.

I found the included cable provided didn't seem to charge my laptop - probably not 100w as specified. But I already had another 100w USB C cable and that seemed to work. Have you tried another cable?

    • May I know where did you buy it from? Direct from store or Amazon?

      • Amazon

      • It sounds like from this thread that buying direct is not a great idea

    • Our stock on Amazon is managed by Amazon. Handling of the returns by Amazon is bizarre and careless. I wouldn't be surprised if they just restocked a customer product that was returned after 2-3 months of use. Unfortunately, its something that we cannot control.

      • Fair enough. It just seemed bizarre when I received it that was all.

But other than the cable not really working for my laptop its been fine and have no complaints with the charger itself.

Did you actually check the compatibility of your PD devices and cables?

We wouldn't know… you didn't list any details here of your actual charger, cables nor laptop, so I'll agree with the provider that this is likely user error not a faulty item.

Technically they haven't stated it's a user error, but their first response was to look at the markings on the charger even though I had stated I was using the c3 port without anything 3lse being plugged into the charger .

The Lenovo laptop that I'm using is currently being charged by a 100w charger (https://satechi.net/products/100w-usb-c-pd-compact-charger?v…). The cable that I'm using is also being used by that same charger. The 100w was to charge my MacBook pro 16" which I believe requires 95w, but the laptop that I'm using has a charging brick of 65w listed on it. I believe the USB c cable was rated 100w (I recall checking that when I purchased it, and it is not the apple cable).

So the only thing I did was disconnect the cable from the charger, and I plugged the charger into the c3 port of powerpod 140… And nothing happens.

I did check this with my Mac and two other USB c cable, and the apple provided cable that came with the MacBook. Same result. Not sure what other tests I can do.

      • Thanks for providing the detailed info. If everything else works fine as you've described, then it does indeed point to a faulty Zyron charger.

If they are actually an Aussie business then they have to abide by the ACL which means you've got well more than 30 days they say to get a replacement or refund sorted. I would lodge a DOA claim with them with the detailed info from above, and ask where to send it for a replacement.

I'd like to support an aussie company

Are they an aussie company? From their site, I just assumed they were just a dropshipper from all the random modules that appear.

FWIW I bought the "Powerpod 66W GaN Charger" and used it to charge a HP/Surface Pro/Lenovo laptops and they all seem to work okay (they largely charge via USB C anyway). Though I don't trust the charger a lot. But maybe worth seeing if you're doing usb c to usb c and have a rated cable and check if you only have a specific USB C port that accepts charging on your device, just incase.

    • How long since you bought it? I bought the same one and have been using it on the odd occasion, but it's now been a year and it has completely died.
I too, like OP, bought direct to "support Aussie businesses", but I've been left in the dust.

    What's going on here?

Hi, can you please contact via chat button on the website? Our team contacted you earlier today to send a video while charging your laptop. We were experiencing email server issue and have migrated our mailbox an hour ago. Please reach out again and your issue will be troubleshooted asap. Don't worry about 30 days return policy, we'll resolve it for you or refund if necessary.

    • Hi, I've emailed you guys about my Powerpod 66 charger which has just passed 1 year since purchase and completely stopped working (no power output). Your team has replied and said that you won't replace or repair it. This is not in line with Australian Consumer Law and is very unfair to Australians like myself. Can you please look into it? The order number is ZYR1209.

      • Hi, our warranty on Powerpod 66 is 12 months but we do replace faulty chargers upto 15 months max. If it has passed 15 months I am afraid we will not be able to send a replacement but we can surely offer you a discounted price on current or upcoming chargers. I will ask our team to contact you on Monday.

    Which lenovo laptop?

I have a Legion 5 Pro that can accept 100W charging from type-C.

I bought the 120W powastone but I was having issues with it. It would keep alternating between charging and not charging. I hit them up on live chat and returned it for a full refund.

Ended up getting the 156W deskpod which works perfectly

  • My issue was an it an item that was doa so they said they will send a replacement out and never did so I posted a comment on one of there deals saying pm us we will sort it out asap. They never did.

    Avoid them at all costs.

Can we learn the lesson and stop posting/buying off-brand chargers & powerbanks now please

  • Hi all,

I want to share a different experience I had with this seller. - you experience may differ.

I got a 100W Gan charger as well and it had a bit of humming.
Zyron offered to send a new one to me before i needed to send the old product back.
I got it in 4 days with tracking and all. I was given a shipping label to send the old one back too.
Everything was sorted in less than a week. I couldn't be happier.

  • OP, can you update us on where you're up to with this?

    • Hi Sorry, the matter is not resolved. I ended up travelling overseas without the chargers and took my old chargers instead - I haven't had time since arriving to respond to a question that they had I believe they wanted to know the model number of my work laptop which was not charging - I didn't have my work laptop overseas so I wasn't able to respond. I had forgotten about this, but will go back and respond back to them.

I buy all my chargers from zyron, only good experiences for me.

    • Glad its worked out for you.

  • I like the Zyron products when they are working, and customer support is generally good.

Problem is I've purchased 3 Zyron products and all 3 have failed within 14 months of purchase.

    • Could you let me know what you mean by failed? Mine might be headed the same way :(
