G'day,
I purchased Amaysim prepaid plan from a recent deal for an overseas visitor. As they do not hold a local bank card I made the purchase with my debit card and the sim card was purchased under their details (created an amaysim account for them). Sim card arrived last week and when they tried to activate it with their passport details it failed. I wrote to the Amaysim support and they requested their passport and visa letters which I provided. Then the support centre states, they can't activate the plan as their system shows the visitor is still offshore (wth?) and contact them again when the owner of the sim card has arrived.
Has anyone experienced situation like that? What did you do to get it resolved?
I'm going to ask them to either offer me a refund if they can't activate (because I paid for it from my bank card) or transfer the ownership to someone else in the family who is a local. Needless to say this is the most frustrated experience I have had with a local telco and the visitor is currently using a starter kit prepaid I bought them from local woolies because they cant get their prepaid plan activated.
—- Final Update —-
So after I requested for a refund, a different support person reached out to me and said, try to activate it using a friend of family's id details who has a local id (DL, passport). This was news to me because their phone support told me sim must be activated using the account holder's ID only and it's only after that it can then be transferred to a different person if need be. But anyway, as the last support person said I tried to re activate it using one of our DLs and it went through. So after such confusions and long wait the visitor can enjoy their prepaid plan, finally!
