  • I thought they always had a discount, like a rug shop!
I have used them but never had to claim.
Did get a partial refund for a policy I couldn’t use during lockdown.

    Their productreview reviews scare me

      2.1 points SCAMMERS stay away

I made the mistake of buying travel insurance and unfortunately had to make a claim. Stay away. Underwritten by Tokyo Marine. 16 months later - still waiting. Tried every delaying tactic and continued asking for documents. Paid a small part of the claim and not reimbursed for the significant costs. Later, I found out similar problems from others making a claim with World2Cover

I had a very similar experience recently. Currently have two claims with AFCA

Avoid like the plague. Horribly experience when trying to put the claim through

More details? Or link to previous rant?

    • Most insurance companies are a pain to make a claim. The only good one I've encountered was CHUBB through my Amex Platinum Card.

  • Thanks for the negative reviews, has scared me off buying a policy for my brother. Any other good deals out there at more reputable insurers?

  • Anyone just rely on their credit card travel insurance? Amex & St George seem to be fairly good (although we haven't had any major claims). 1cover many years ago were quite decent to deal with (theft).

But I suppose it's the medical emergencies that really test them out. Or you can do as a young colleague said once, "oh I don't get insurance if anything happens I'll just setup a GoFundMe page." 😒🙄

Have used Amex insurance for family cover. Usual hassle but they paid up eventually

  • Damn going to be travelling soon. Will look elsewhere for travel insurance.

Claimed with these guys for recentish Jetstar Bali delays. Provided receipts and paid very quickly. Then claimed with Jetstar. Not sure if that's legal but jq had stricter limits. Currently on a multip trip policy which was just under $400 for every country with a $100 excess.

My situation was pretty clear cut. They are underwriten by Tokio Marine. If there was a car rental issue or medical it might be a bit more of a test but based on the claim mentioned, could not have been easier.

Same thing always applies to insurance products. Read pds and see if that fits your holiday circumstances and disclose pre-existing conditions, which reminds me.

  • I've had a very good experience with SCTI if anyone is looking for an alternative given the comments here. SCTI even paid me out with no evidence provided (it was a theft and I hadn't filed a police report).

  • how about fast cover or southern cross? anyone has experience with them

    • Yes very good experience with SCTI, paid over 1k without any proof given

  • Had good experiences with World2cover. They could be because the claims were relatively small i.e $200 each time and fully supported by med certificates.

  • I just use credit card travel insurance.

I recently bought insurance from this mob and submitted claim last Wednesday as well with $0 excess.

Got a call back last Friday from one of their agents who explained the status of my claim, and told me I'd get the funds in my account next week. Already in my account today.

Quite happy with their service and processes.

  • Anyone know when the discount code will expire? Thks

    • +1

It lingers around. Every 2 months from the last time.

  • Thanks op, saved $50

  • I going uk for 4 weeks September for4 weeks are these a good insurance company? Good that it has 25% off.
But is there really need for top cover? There will be 4 of us 2 adults and 2 kids.
    It says kids are free?

    • Top cover has higher limits than the other levels of cover , you also got covid cover.

Check what you think you need coverage for

      • I don’t know what I need cover for is covid still a think everyone is flying these days so why they charge premium prices for covid?
I’m a dual citizen so would probably be covered over there also if ill or hospital.
I’m not up to date with covid jab had two boosters to date I think it’s number 4 these days.
Kids are not done as it all sort of went away and was no push to get it did not bother.

But hey covid is still around and to me it’s still like a flu/cold.
I had a year and half ago and that’s what I thought it was.
Going forward as I type this im away from home working and guess what I have Covid started off as I have flu tested twice that day all clear and next day I tested had covid.

Government here does require you to isolate anymore but job im on does.
So I stuck in my room for 5 days. Work rules not mine.

So yes covid is still there and maybe it’s that time of year.
My flight allows us to make two changes to our tickets at no cost but maybe covid is not part of it I thought possibly $450 to $550 plus depending if using codes etc was steep for a trip of 4 weeks for family of 4.
