Noob question how to select specific country ?

    • +1

Just search for the item will give results for both and usually select the cheapest (but can filter LHS ships from international and or Australia).

This is for via Amazon AU, not going to the US/UK site but you can always do that to have a look.

      http://www.amazon.com.au/gp/search?k=YOURSEARCHTERM&rh=p_6%3A

Then add the seller ID to the end - http://www.amazon.com.au/gp/search?k=YOURSEARCHTERM&rh=p_6%3AA2K69GP4EI3XWZ

For multiple sellers add %7C or | in between

Who’s the warranty handled through? Amazon AU or the seller (JP, UK, DE etc)

    • +11

My last claim for a DE purchase was handled by AU. Very easy process.

      • Brilliant thanks

      • I have had the opposite experience multiple times with US purchases. The opposite of an easy process (i.e. I had to eat the costs).

  • +1

Unfortunate that Amazon Japan excludes shipping of Blu-ray's, dvds, CDs etc to Australia which was not the case before they shut to Australia for tax reasons.

    • +1

It's like they keep giving us more and more reasons to just resort to piracy!

      • Most people stream these days, but it's a bit annoying all the same, when there are hardly any CD shops around anymore.

        • +2

I dislike streaming as the streaming services have a tendency to just randomly remove any series, TV shows or movies and you can never watch it again!

Blu-ray seems like the way to go but I am not yet ready to invest into a blu-ray player when…. ehem…. piracy "just works" without a single bit of additional hardware!

          • +1

@Europoor: Fair enough, most people have a variety of streaming services, fairly cheap too if you have a VPN and see the deals on here.
I used to save and rip a lot of DVDs and a few blu-rays when those optical drives were in fashion. To be honest wouldn't watch the movies again or that often. It's just a hoard mentality. I did like ripping/backing up my CDs to lossless FLAC though and that was time well spent. Still got the CDs in boxes at my folks place.

Tidal is a good example, very cheap but you can alway rip the cd quality / high-res if you have some favorite albums, and the time.
            Look up tidal-gui

Handy having some offline options for sure though.

Any recommendation on what to buy from Japan which is unavailable in Australia?

    • Sake

    • +3

There's been some half- to third-price ARS secateurs and other garden cutters available. Most discounts have expired now sadly.

    • +1

Anything which is big and heavy which you normally will not buy when you travel and the price has not been inflated to cover the shipping fee. (Note that many items have already been inflated. I was luck enough to purchase many items before they were inflated in the past 2 weeks. All arrived within 4 days.)

    • They have some very nice hand tools, such as Fujiya pliers

Always check the three camels as pricing can be quite variable

  • Seems like 85% of my wishlist has defaulted to being sold by Amazon Japan through the .au portal, which is odd considering it's primarily books. Price difference is enough to make it a tough call between 1-2 day delivery and ~2 week delivery from Japan.

    • Nice

    • That just returns everything, the method above looks like it would Work if you are searching for a particular item, or just google it

      • +1

Forgot to add that my link works from desktop only

        • Ah got it just tested :)

    • Sorry if it's a silly question but I want to get some crisps from UK but can't see free delivery. Do you have any tips? In particular walkers square salt and vinegar:)
Any help greatly appreciated as it's coming up 50 GBP for delivery

      Cheers

    • nice!

we need stronger currency exchange rate!

    • then we'll need to wait for the next resource boom

    • +2

We should increase the interest rates….

    • Lisa needs braces!

  • is there a way to search amazon japan products?

  • Fitbits sold by Amazon UK have $41 international delivery for some reason. Annoying since they can be much cheaper than the Amazon AU items.

    • If it's via Amazon au it shouldn't?
Noticed also how much cheaper they are at times.

  • +2

Way back when, I got my lodge cast iron pans at a good price, with free delivery from US. So worth checking…..

  • +3

Shame how they seem to really jack the prices though… looked at a cycling jersey through Amazon UK, GBP14.99 - found through the .com.au and it's AUD49.20

  • +9

International Prime shipping isn’t free, that’s a bit a furphy. In most cases, if you go direct to the regional Amazon site, ie Amazon.com to purchase, then without being a prime member in that region, you will save at least 10% buying there… in short, using International Prime shipping actually has a convenience fee built in.

    • +1

Yea most of the time doesn't end up being free whenever I've checked unless via AU, and won't be if sold by third parties.

    • +3

There's other way around by using forwarder from US and buy from their link you can save up to 10-20% even not prime member in US.

  • Not having this had saved me so much money though. Would have bought all the random stuff I'd have to later put on market place for free.

  • All those looking for buying from Japan, remember Amazon Japan doesn't mean Made in Japan 😁

  • +1

    Waiting for Amazon Turkey :D

  • I remember the good ol days of buying Hi Fi equipment from Germany…

    • Buying an Onkyo reciever from Amazon.de that i otherwise couldnt' afford - excellent. When the HDMI board failed like it does on all the Onkyos of that era… not so good. Ended up sending it back to Germany via the UK to get it fixed. 11 years on now its pretty much buggered…

  • Had my first and only Amazon Japan order cancelled once it arrived in the country. No email advice, the order was just killed. It was a cheaply priced book, the tracking has been flagged it as me having refused delivery (not the case) and the details in the order now show:

"We’re sorry there was an issue with your delivery. The package is being returned, and we will issue a refund within 3 - 5 business days after the return is processed."

I won't be bothering with Amazon Japan again.

    • I just had the exact same experience with a US Prime order - checking the tracking info on amazon it seeminly got "damaged" in the US, before being shipped to AU. They didn't bother to send an undamaged one, they just cancelled the order.

I can buy it again for 50% more from the store - Intex official - … but I found a link to one for the same price as before from another seller, also Prime International eligible. So I've ordered that one. It'll be interesting to see what happens this time.

      • +2

I suspect that the system generated prices that were too low, and when the deliveries are deemed not cost effective, they cancel them.

    • Ordered a few garden tools from Amazon JPN end of May. 3 out of 4 items apparently in stock still not shipped after 2 weeks so not sure what's going on.

      • It took Amazon US three weeks to ship "in stock" items to me recently. Parcel seems to be on a tour of the US, it's been through three facilities so far and hasn't even left the country yet.

    • During Covid I had the same issue from Japan. When pushing seller as to why they said actual postage had gone too high. Still kept offering to Oz though…

  • All I want is to buy some Fanta Melon Soda at a somewhat reasonable price. I did a search and nothing came up. Oh well.

  • Cool

  • +1

Has anyone else started having Amazon AU deliveries come via Toll, instead of Australia Post? I hate courier deliveries (for my own logistical reasons) and will use Amazon less simply because of it.

  • +1

Can someone show me where I can find the following products (sample I picked up) in amazon aus site?

    Sold and Shipped by Amazon.co.jp
    https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B093WN4KDV

Sold and Shipped by Amazon USA
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082MY2MX3

I tried but cannot seem to figure out how to use the above instruction. Searching them in Amazon AUS hit nothing.
If someone show me the exact URL in Amazon AUS site showing these sample products.
    Cheers

    • Me either

  • This is awesome thank you!
