The software was part of the school programme amongst other EdAlive products and parents were also encouraged to purchase them for home use.
My son would always be playing it.Thanks for the updated version which I have now downloaded for my younger son who is 5 (but he is not into educational products unlike his older brother)

Some kids made a video about it:) (I just found it with a Google search and didn't even know the video existed until now.)

+1 voteHi All,
Thanks for posting aam:)
We weren't quite ready for this Ultimate Maths Invaders freebie to be OzBargained yet! The team and I are still trying to get the process working seemlessly… so please be patient and let me know if you have any difficulties. We are still working out some of the bugs.
I'd really like some feedback - so let it rip:)
Cheers,
Jason
BTW - The friend's emails and bonus BRAINtastic titles are processed manually atm… so you won't receive an instant download just yet. It takes a few days to send them out.
UPDATE: Full disclosure…. By downloading the software you are agreeing to receive ocasional emails from EdAlive. However, we will NOT SHARE your details with any third part and you can unsubscribe at any time. :)

OKAY - Some issues…
If you don't get your confirmation email with the verification link, check your junk mail folder for a message from info@edalive.com.
If that still doesn't work let let me know here…
Don't click the confirmation link twice - it won't work the second time because you'd already be verified. Instead use the 'Alternate Manual Download' just below it in your confirmation email.
All the best,
Jason

Yup… it's called Spelling Force and it's only $19.95 at www.edalive.com/club *shameless plug :P
And I don't have time to play it… I'm waiting for our load balancer to kick in:(
bargainhunter_dande on 23/08/2012 - 13:58 ¶Is this a spam site?
Entered the information. Got a confirmation email.
But the downlaod link goes back to asking to sign up, and asks for 5 emails (so it can spam?)Cant get to download!

Hi Dande,
Could you try the link again please? You'll need to click the alternate manual link in your email now that you've already confirmed your address.
The download link should be in big yellow letters at the top of the page.
(The page design is the same as the sign up form, but with different text. So at first glance it DOES look that same:) )Please let me know if it's still not showing up.
BTW… the 'share with a friend' form is entirely optional.
Cheers,
Jason

Hey Ozzie,
Could you try the manual link again and let me know? You might need to empty your browser's cache.
The download link is the big yellow "Click Here To Download…" link at the top of the page.
The share with a friend form at the bottom is entirely optional:)
Cheers,
Jason

Hi Jason,
yep. should have updated my comment. I just didn't realise that you had to wait for a second email, click on that link and then the download link in the form asking for 5 names.
I think the problem is that the form wanting five names when initially signing up and the one with the download link are very similar and you assume (incorrectly) that they are the same.
Thanks.
+2 votesSignup email received. Clicking the link titled "Click here to verify your email address" leads to a page that looks ALMOST the same as the first one, except that it loads a popup with "CLICK HERE to Download…" right up the top
It definitely works.
Downloading to me at 255KB/sec whichi s not too bad considering that the server is probably getting hammered at the moment.

Got the second email as well to download. Clicked the link - it opened a page to enter 5 emails of friends. I entered and was waiting for past 4 hours for the page to finish the task and allow me to download. Just now I killed that browser window and tried again, still same issue.
Then I tried to just download without giving emails of 5 friends. Even though it has a cross to close the banner on the page, that doesn't work.
So effectively no way to download after trying for past 4 hours. Giving up.. :(
+1 votebargainhunter_dande on 23/08/2012 - 16:21 ¶Clicking on the link in the confirmation email brings up SAME looking screen asking, but the link is on top says "Click to download". Without closing it, click on that.
Jason, you probably want to get rid of the email form there as the user has already gone through that screen before.

Thanks Dande,
I'll see what I can do.
JUST A REMINDER TO EVERYONE ELSE…
Please click the bright yellow "CLICK HERE to Download Ultimate Maths Invaders…" link at the top of the screen (after confirming your email address) to download the software (it's for Mac/Win).
At the moment the rest of the screen looks similar to the previous screen - we'll fix that up!
BTW…The 'share with friends' form is optional - you can just click the download link which is above the form. But hey, we'd still like you to share the freebie!
+1 votewebbiegareth on 23/08/2012 - 19:51 ¶I downloaded a file called "umiv2_uni_hme_2-0-09f_2012-08-08", which appears to be a .zip file… but when I try to extract it (in Windows 7), I get the following message:
"Do you want to copy this folder without encryption? A problem is preventing this folder from being encrypted. UMI v2.0.9f"
Can't say I've seen that before!?!
EDIT - I ignored and skipped the error messages and it extracted OK, and it installed OK too… I'm just curious about why the .zip contents are encrypted?

That's an 'interesting' error. I'll try it on my Win7 machine at home (we use Macs at work). Does it work if you choose no encryption?
EDIT - no idea! It could have been the way the guys zipped it up on a Mac :/ I'll check it out first thing in the morning;)
Plus I'll reorganise the zip file…No need for all those extra Mac files to be there on a PC.
Did anyone else get that error on Win 7?

What happened when you clicked the big yellow "CLICK HERE to download Ultimate Maths Invaders" link at the top of the popup on the download page?
You should see it at the very top of the page after you click the confirmation link in your email. If you've already clicked the confirmation link once, you'll need to use the manual link just below it in the email if you want to try again.
Let me know how you go:)
Jason

When I click the manual link another window appears saying to fill in another 5 email address of friends. Entered 5 emails and got an email saying that 'thanks for sharing' then the page goes back to where I started from. On that page when I click download another window appears and says sign up again, which I have done in the first place. Looks like goes in circles

Ahhhh! thanks for the feedback. The trick is that you're not supposed to close the popup until after you've clicked the download link.
After clicking the confirmation link (or the manual download link) in your email you are taken to a new page (which uses a similar design to the signup page) but it has a big yellow link at the top that says "CLICK HERE to download Ultimate Maths Invaders".
Do not close the lightbox popup, instead just click the big yellow download link and then your download will start immediately.
I've got the guys working on a few changes to the procedure now.
Remember… it wasn't quite ready to be OzBargained yet! And all this feedback is really really helpful, so THANKS!
HTH,
Jason

Excellent:)
We definitely need to work on the process… ozbargainers are pretty smart cookies and shouldn't be having this much difficulty! So it must be something we're doing wrong.
Thanks again! I really appreciate the feedback.
EDIT: Now if you accidentally close the lightbox popup with the download link, clicking one of the other download buttons will bring it back up. Hopefully this helps!

Hi Spender,
There are no licence keys required, and there are no limitations in the software. It's a full free version:)
As for legally vs illegally obtaining it… We'll just have to take your word for it that you entered your name and email address and used the official link on our website to download it ;)
Our main aim is to get the software out into the hands of kids who need help with their maths skills.
Of course, a bonus for us is that we get to be in contact with parents who are actually interested in educational software for their children. We feel that we are well placed, as one of the very few remaining Australian owned and operated Educational Software writers (all our titles were produced right here in Armidale, NSW), to provide those parents with affordable resources for their children's education.
All the best,
Jason

4000 downloads and this is the first we've heard.
There is definitely no malware on the site and the download files are checked regularly.
There have been warnings in the past for false positives in the installer file, but never for the download page. ( The installer file is clean though.)
What's the warning exactly?
Jason

Hi Jason,
I am sure it is not intentional mate, and probably a false positive!
I am getting this from 2 computers, across browsers:
The page has been blocked as it contains malware or exploits
The Web page you are trying to access contains malware and exploits that could infect your computer.
We advise you not to continue visiting this page.I understand that visiting the page could infect my computer. Continue…
It is coming after clicking the manual link in the email, or through following the link. Then clicking the "click here to download the …"
Hope this helps?

Hmmmm:( That's a strange one…
I just checked it on Win XP in IE 6, IE7, IE8 and Win7 in IE9, Firefox & Chrome, then on OSX in Safari, Chrome and Firefox and can't seem to get any warnings to come up:(
Have you got any other anti-virus/internet monitoring software installed that I could test it against?
EDIT: We just renewed our SSL certificate yesterday… perhaps the internet monitoring software hasn't caught up with that fact? I really have no idea if it works like that I'm just trying to think what else it could be.
ANYONE ELSE have any suggestions???

UPDATE: The dev team have double checked the security on our server and re-scanned all of the download files.
The have confirmed that there is NO malware or dangerous content in any of the EdAlive web pages or downloads.
If anyone else gets a similar message, please let me know so that we can track down the cause of the false positives.
Thanks,
Jason

Only 3? That's alright then :p lol;)
I did say we should get some ozbargainers to have a look over the site!
So thanks for the help!
P.S. Thankfully our educational content was developed, written, proofed and re-proofed by a team of professional educators… and not just our webmaster ;)
peterpeterpumpkin on 10/09/2012 - 22:53 ¶That's allota spam :) I'm no marketing professional but I think sending 3 marketing e-mails in 2 days (6-7 Sep) is potentially bad for business. Why? I didn't unsubscribe until 4 out of the 7 last e-mails in my backup e-mail account came from you.
Now that I think about it, maybe I am a marketing professional. I'm off to edutain the spamming bike companies now.

Man, based on this and yesterday's deal, your website is so very not user friendly. I click the emailed confirmation link which takes me back to the initial signup page - it's a continuous loop. How does one download the software after clicking the email confirmation link? Thanks.
EDIT: okay, one must be more patient. After clicking the email confirmation link, you will receive another email containing the download link.
