MSI R6990/PowerColor HD6990 4GB GDDR5 $499 from PC DIY

10

Cheapest on Staticice $599. Probably one of the best 6xxx series from Ati. Its still better than most of the high range 7xxx series.

    Compared to a 7970;
    - about 5-10% faster
    - uses ~50% more power 250w vs 375w
    - crossfire issues - microstuttering, scaling

    • For 535 (scorptech) you can get the 7970 Ghz edition which is about the same speed.

      Doesn't mean this isn't an option for some people though.

        Just giving a comparison up to people who see this deal and go "Oooh dual gpus, shut up and take my money!".

        Would only buy this for bragging rights now, 7970 is still in infancy with regards to drivers. But thats me :)

    • The 6990 is basically issue free except for those games that don't have a crossfire profile.

      Either way I would be getting a 7970 though.

  • Not a bargain imo

    Sub $400 and sure

  • i was seconds away from getting a 660ti off amazon that was posted here before i checked on whirlpool for the lowdown on the card, glad i did as i stumbled across this http://fudzilla.com/home/item/28433-amd-cuts-hd-7000-series-… .

    Just missed out on the pccg 7950 for 300, so ill be waiting eagerly for some more gpu bargains to pop up.
