97 Points & Equal Top of Category - Winestate Magazine

'It's gorgeously styled and perfumed with blackberry, sweet plum, toasty oak and cake spice aromas, followed by a flavoursome palate that's weighty and persistent. Silky and generous with plenty of tasty flavours." - 94pts Wine Orbit

Delicious. It's spicy, juicy and a little bit fruit-sweet, with plenty of plump plush fruit to keep things joyful. It's not complex, but there's a really satisfying backdrop of exotic spice and soft tannins to engage. Drink to: 2024; Date Tasted: January 2022; Alcohol: 14.5%; James Halliday Wine Companion

A 2020 Shiraz that drinks to 2024…this concerns me.

    • Maybe it's that bad it will take you that long to get through them.

    • Clue in the Erin Larking (Halliday) review - "It's not complex". That often means it won't develop much, drink within a few years of bottling. Doesn't mean it's a mediocre wine though.

  • Thanks OP purchased, was very happy with the last deal 12 pack - Secret Deal - Coonawarra v's Barossa Shiraz Mix. So will try this.

  • Winestate 97 points for this vintage. There must be 100,000+ wines crammed into those last 3 points. Little wonder the mag is out of business. Sam King is usually generous in his ratings so it's probably a Halliday or Huon Hooke 90-1 equivalent. Good price for a drink now wine I expect.
