discounted GCs (currently 8% cashback via SB, feel free to comment on any others)

Stack with 8% Microsoft cashback on accessories via Cashrewards.

    In my experience:

    • Controllers track at the rate displayed for "Xbox Consoles & Accessories (excluding Xbox Series X)" and is calculated based on the full GST-inclusive price.
    • Ignore the part that says you may not be eligible for cashback if a gift card is used as payment.
Redeeming gift cards to my Microsoft account balance and using that to pay for orders has never resulted in my cashback getting rejected.
    • Can you please elaborate more on how you can still receive the cashback even though Cashrewards says:
"Cashback is ineligible on the following:
      - Purchase of gift cards or use of gift cards for full or partial payment."
Very keen to load up on MS GCs if I can then redeem them to my Microsoft account balance, but I just wanted to check that purchasing them actually does track for cashback. Thanks!

      • Generally speaking if you redeem gift cards to your online account balance (Microsoft, Apple, etc.), I think the provenance of those funds is no longer an issue for these offers, i.e. Cashrewards doesn’t have visibility of how your Microsoft balance is funded so wouldn’t know if it came from a GC. You just can’t use GCs directly to pay for goods where such exclusions apply.

I was actually wondering about the “8% cashback on GCs via SB”—Shopback doesn’t seem to list Microsoft GCs at all, so presumably refers to another variety that can be redeemed there?

Xbox GCs can be claimed to your Microsoft account and used on the online store.

Can confirm 8% off total price (including GST) was just tracked on CR. I also redeemed msoft reward points for $10 voucher which ends up as credit on your account so its not considered a gift card.

Not needing to deal with windows bluetooth is worth the $20.

      • What's wrong with Windows Bluetooth? I use it frequently, is it that bad?

        • It's slower, much slower. Official adapter is faster

      • there are lot of cheap but fake chips Bluetooth adapters, I had tried couple of them with bad A2DP functionality. Finally got a branded Edimax adapter, never had an issue after that.

      • +1

You have to update the Xbox Controller. Once I did that, Bluetooth worked perfectly.

        • just checked mine (from this deal but got from Amazon) with PC, Bluetooth worked out of box and it is good

Same price at Amazon for anyone with Prime - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08K3FVP5N/ref=twister_B08R6T19…

    • Even less with prime apply the $10 coupon I think it'll be $59 or $69 without prime

      • +1

I think that is your own coupon, not a prime coupon.

    • thanks, just received mine

That starfield controller looks really nice
I probably wont pay that much for it though.

    • Any idea how long these limited editions are stocked for?
All the comments about it seem to be positive, I'm thinking they'll sell out at RRP before they ever see a discount
It's nice but it's not almost double a regular controller price nice

      • +2

Yes they sell out at rrp. If you want, get it now.

I got mine today. Price aside, it's a fantastic looking controller, looks even better than the videos/pics online. The custom box is also great, opens to the constellation logo on the inside cover facing forward with their tagline featured "For all into the star field". I'm really happy with the quality and attention to detail, it's easily my favourite controller (and I like my limited editions :) ).

Agree it's quite a bit more expensive, but potentially will hold its value ?

        • No doubt it's a really nice looking controller. I don't play that much Xbox game nowadays, the interest rates is ruining my collection hobby.

        • potentially will hold its value ?

Instruct your heirs to pass it down through the generations to sell it in 2330 for a motza. OzBargainer scores epic deal from beyond the grave.

    • Pity there's no PC adaptor version.

  • Damn my 8bitdo ultimate controller looks so bland compared to these.

Thanks OP, for anyone with an Amex card the $120 off $600 spend at Microsoft might come in handy if you were already planning on buying something else.

  • will these work with original xbox one? mine doesn't have bluetooth as I remember

    • +1

      Looks like yes
I've got one of the micro usb-b controllers with bluetooth support and one of those early big wireless adapters that dont have bluetooth and it can connect to that so i think they've just got both communication standards in them.

      • +1

Yep, all Xbox One and Series controllers and consoles work with each other. In console mode all of the controllers use their own wireless band, only with other devices does wireless require BT (which only the gen 1 controllers lack).

      • thanks mate, funny thing is that I got my console with a wireless controller in 2018 for around $120, cheaper than two of these new controllers

  • +1

Le starfield also $109 at ebgames if you near one.

    • amazon is 109 delivered.eb is 0.95 more expensive. LOL

      • Yeah but the point is if I want it right now I will pay the 0.95 cents and drive 5 mins

        • That's not the ozbargain spirit.lol. 5 min drive also increase the cost.
