Note the lack of reputable reviews of the K1 and K1 Max printers before deciding to spend money on these. I'm very tempted myself but the lack of reputable reviews is giving me the impression that these will be lemons.

    • Id be surprised if there arnt reviews, theres been a few batches that have gone out

  • I'm looking forward to seeing how these perform, the specs look amazing

I wouldn't recommend it, terrible quality control from reviews all over the place, including its home with terrible quality control. I thought it would compete with BambuLab but nah, day and night.

A CoreXY printer involves way more than that professional AD video Creality tried to show.

BambuLab isn't the best either, I returned my to build a LDO Voron Trident instead, no regrets.

Those with high expectations, you better avoid it. Ender 3 users might find it somewhat okay.

    • I have a Trident as well and love it, but you can't pretend they are comparable in the kind of people who would use it - a lot of building needed for a Voron, even as a kit

  • If one wanted to get for the household the best available in June 2023 - which make and model would it be? thank you

    • The best 3d printers at home? a Prusa MK4, XL, or Bambu

      • And if you needed to pick 1 of those 3?

        • +3

that's a very weird list, the Bambu is the clear option at that budget ballpark

        • Household I'd go Ender 3 S1
If you want a little more, go Bambu (Enclosure is mostly printable)

I would never choose a Prusa unless you can't afford your print to fail. After all, a failed print is a learning experience.

My first printer was an S1, still going strong. Only changes I've made is an DIY acrylic enclosure and a Tungsten Carbide nozzle for my CF12 and ABS prints. I run Klipper from an Orange Pi 3 LTS and normal prints I use 150mm/s

        • bambu x1 carbon

            @whitepuma: That's a big jump up!

@Slippage: Not really, he wants to know the best available for the household June 2023.

The answer to that question is the bambu X1 carbon.

If there was more restrictions (such as price limits or size) I may have a different answer

Buying a Prusa is like buying a Toyota. Never breaks down but you're left wondering why in 2016, everything is still analog and you don't have Bluetooth.

    • Depends on your budget.
Sovol sv06 is hard to beat if the budget is tight.

  • CREATIVE copyright lawsuit incoming?

I have the K1 and apart from a couple of little quirks, I am very happy with it. The main issues with it for me is the drag chain knocks the top cover off but someone has designed some risers for it (I just haven't printed them yet) and the drag chain can sometimes knock the release switch on the top of the extruder which can lead to issues with filament extruding. The fix to that problem is to watch the first layer and to flick the switch back into place….the extrusion is then correct. It prints easily 3 to 5 times as fast as my ender-3 s1's and the quality is good. It is very noisy compared to the s1's but that is probably to be expected given the speed it works. The build quality doesn't seem to be any worse than other sub $1000 printers and at $300 cheaper than the bambu p1p and being fully enclosed etc….I think it is a good buy.

    • Also considering K1 Max is 300 x 300 vs the X1C 256 x 256, there is a small price difference between the two.
I've got the X1C for a week now and although it's been really good out of the box, I've had a few issues already albeit minor.

      Issue
      - appears nozzle tried to dig through build plate
      - lighting is quite poor within the enclosure

I've ordered the K1 Max from this store, they're local to me and I've purchased my Ender S1 Pro from them before.
Some of the comments talk about problems on launch of the K1 and yeah I've done quite a bit of research before pulling the trigger on this preorder. They're aware of the issues and have rolled out fixes most notably extruder flaw. They've guaranteed that the K1 Max will have the fixed extruder. Comes with any new product imo some flaws they haven't tested thoroughly enough and relies on user information to figure out. Pretty sure Bambu had some things they needed to iron out on launch too.

Get a p1p from Bambu lab. They have warehouse in Au and super fast delivery. P1p is way better than k1. If you have enough budget, get a x1c.

K1 Max price is BS! On genuine Creality website it is listed at AU$1459 including GST and free shipping, see https://store.creality.com/au/products/k1-max-3d-printer

K1 Max at AU$1600 (or higher) is not a good deal IMO, buying Bambu Lab X1-Crabon for $1880 is no brainer in that case.

    • Thats true. Max is cheaper from Creality AU

    • Read the post, apply the Ozbargain discount code for $100 off.
Also you're dealing with a local store if that means anything to you.

  • I was waiting for the K1 Max but now I think the best use of the cash is to build a Voron, at least I can upgrade, modify and repair it as I see fit. Meanwhile I'm considering Sovol SV06 Plus as a bridge.

    • A voron is fantastic, but expect a big learning curve to make it first off

    • What about SV07?

      • +1

I'd go for the SV06 (or Plus) over the SV07. Not sure why they decided to put wheels on a klipper printer, more robust rails on the SV06. Just install klipper on a SV06 instead.
