Sony X85K BRAVIA LED 4K UHD HDR Google TV (2022): 65" $1188, 55" $1088 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

740

Been looking for a half decent 120hz LCD.

Decided on last year's model, being the X85k. JB Hifi currently have both the 55" & 65" on clearance.

55" $1088
65" $1188

Postage is also pretty cheap if no local stock available. Was $23 from Canberra to rural Vic.

Was adding as you posted, noticed after posted that I omitted it!

No worries, unbelievable how cheap are TVs today

  • +2

    Chasing 75in deal, any going?

    • 75" BD is a good deal. Lowest ever?

    • +2

I just got the 75 90k box damage, fingers crossed it's fine ah

      • +4

Yeah the 75 90J or 90K is the pick of the bunch I think. Let us know how it goes!

        • Is the X90K substantially better than the X85K (thinking about changing my x85 order to the x90 order).

          • @Anonymous18: I spent too long trying to figure out what the right TV to get was. Decided if the 85k is selling for around 2K and I can get the next model up for less, why not just jump on it.

          • @Anonymous18: Yes! The x85 is the best of edge lit backlights. The x90 is the move up to Full array local dimming, in lamens terms it allows more accurate control of backlight to reduce backlight bleed and provide better contrast/black levels

Definitely go x90 if you can but I have x85 and am still content for now even if its got its minor imperfections. Will be upgrading next year to oled when a good deal pops up under $2k for 65"

          • @Anonymous18: The x90k will have better blacks.

        • Is the 90K much better than the 85K?

          • +5

@boxall: The 90K has the superior SONY XR processing chipset, which has better upscaling and motion handling. In addition to the chipset, the X90K has has full array local dimming compared to the X85K's edge lit. So short answer, yes the X90K is heaps better.

    • What code do you use to get these prices?

      • +1

Starts with SNSMD…… should see it under the price “pay only”.. , need eBay plus

      • +2

If you don't have ebay plus, you can try the code SEOFYHG to get $100 off. That worked for me.

    • How’s everyone experience with the sony tv BD? Thanks in advance

  • Awww sheet, I have just bought the TCL C835 with the same price last sale….

    • and me…. i have just bought the samsung last night from GG….

      • I guess you can just cancel the order, no?

        • ah… i dont know man.. dilemma

      • what model of samsung?

and which model do you want to get here?

        • bought sam 65cu8000
i want tcl mini C835 not sony haha

          • @CyberMurning: why didn't you buy the tcl mini C835?

also what is the price you got for it vs what tcl mini C835 is now?

            • @pinkybrain: yeah no idea man i thought no one sell c835 anymore so didnt check on GG website, and then busy checking review of the samsung and trying to checkout at GG broken website before cashback cut off plus tired sleepy etc only few mins before midnight realised there is c835 on GG
well i have samsung mobile so probably samsung tv isnt bad choice.
all up after 3 promos.. around $950 delivered.

            • @pinkybrain: The TCL C835 is not available for Victorians. Tried GG, JB, binglee, appliances online, etc. Bit of stock in NSW (JB) and WA (GG), but neither will deliver to VIC

    • Isn't the C835 better than this?

    • +5

The C835 is a much better TV. I wouldn't worry.

      • Mini led vs led.

        Anything else?

        • +3

The backlight is the most important part of an LCD TV so that pretty much sums it up.

Single zone LED backlight which is not capable of any form of HDR image vs MiniLED full array backlight capable of a very good HDR image.

        • +2

Careful as I would still back the best edge lit from Sony over mini led by a low/crappy brand. The brands like TCL Hisense etc do not know how to properly implement the tech so mini leds can look like garbage in comparison.

Look in person to see for yourself but I have not been impressed by those brands at all

      • Do you know if there is anyway to get the C835 in Victoria? I've tried everywhere. Made numerous enquiries and phone calls to those that stock it. Apparently no stock in VIC

    • +3

I have a C835 and a X90H. The TCL is the better tv.

      • Any comparison?

  • Who on earth really can't fit those extra 10" in for a hundo?

  • +2

Anyone use this on their ps5? How is it? Thx
Or any other recommendations around this price range? Thanks in advance.

The 4K@120hz is fake. The processor cant handle it so it reduces it 3840 x 1080p. Even though it says 4K@120. Known issue with these Sony models.

      • link to where this "known issue" is discussed? I run 4k120 from my PC over HDMI 2.1, and there's no indication either visually or otherwise that the resolution is being reduced by half on the vertical axis, so I'd very much like to read up on it. I run 3840x2160 / 120hz / 8-bit (not chroma 4:4:4/ 4:4:2/ 4:2:2 etc) form the PC.

Checked and they patched it now. All good if you get the recent updates.

          • +1

@Whisper Quiet: I found what you were referring to and it had me in two minds, some people saying that the upscaling made it imperceptible for gaming but would show up in text, but it's great to know it's been patched out, likely before I got mine (2 months ago). If it was still an issue I was going to commend how well they 'hid' it, because I pixel peeped the heck out of games when I first set it up and couldn't tell! but that tracks if it was patched.

  • not available in WA. cant even chose delivery option.

I have the 85" X85K and very much rate it. I also have an LG OLED C2 42" so I feel vaguely qualified to give an opinion on the Sony with the current 'pinnacle' of panel tech to compare against. Yes the blacks aren't OLED level - but you can strongly mitigate this with ~$100 of bias lighting, and as for the rest, it's actually phenomenal. Every single piece of content I play on this screen looks fantastic, Netflix HDR shows, Cartoons, 60hz/120hz/VRR window gaming looks and feels great, I've yet to find content that can make this set stumble, it all ends up looking punchy and smooth without artefacts - but make sure to change the colour space per input to DCI! the colours are so much flatter by default.

I just live chatted with JB as I couldn't find any in stock in WA.

25 left nationwide - none in WA.

    • wow envy you must be feeling special now.. go go go WA

    85" for 3k seems a good deal

    • 85 x90k for like 2.7k seems a really good deal

  • What os? Does it lag like my 4 year old samsung?

    • Google/Android TV and it's snappy.

Any 4k tv around $500 mark? Thanks

  • Nothing in Melbourne

  • damn it not available for delivery at where I live, and I very much doubt it will fit in my car……….

  • Does anyone know the width between the two legs/stands of the 85” X90k and x85k?

  • For the 65 inch, it says "page can't be found." Any idea why that is?

  • Went the 65x90k in the end. $1372. Box damaged. Read enough reviews to justify my decision.

  • Bummer 85/90K OOS. Looking for 60-65 inch TVs at a similar budget, wondering if there are any last minute EOFY deals coming up?

    • Was in the same boat. Missed all the TCL C835 deals and that is no more. C845 is $1899 at the moment and no way worth another $500.

      • +1

Twice the dimming zones, up to twice the peak brightness. That's not a bad price.

        • For the c845? or what I paid for the x90k?

C845 honestly seems like a decent upgrade over C835.
          -Twice the dimming zones
          -500 nits brighter
-New processor for HDR tone mapping and processing.

Will be a great buy once the price settles the next few months. C835 still far better value at the moment though.

Just had a look at the x90k today. 75" wonderful picture. I am sure I will like my 65 as well.

I could see the difference between the 85 and 90.

    • Box damaged arrived today (earlier than expected and basically unannounced). Will check it out tonight.

      • BD also arrived today for me. Box appears to be fully sealed with zero damage visible.

      • Box is a little damaged. Haven't opened it yet. Will have to wait a few days.

        • Screen is cracked and completely stuffed.

          • @boxall: How’s the replacement process going? Difficult or easy?

            • @AaronR: No response at all today. They use worrying words like:

In regards to this, please provide photos of the damaged box and the damaged screen so I can have it validated to our team and request for a replacement if possible.

              IF POSSIBLE????

              • +1

@boxall: Keeping the wording ambiguous makes sense, because it could above their remit to make that call or don’t know if stock is available to send. Curious to see how it pans out for you mate.

                • @AaronR: True. Will get the Samsung 65qn90b if only a refund.
