  • Can stack with 10+7% off: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/782589

    • I told you that was the highlight of the deal. You didn't listen πŸ˜‹πŸ˜„

      • +1

this place need more variety, otherwise it's all pc/pc parts, eneloops, macpac jackets, mobiles/moblie plans, cashback stuff, grocery shit in the catalog, videogames and that's pretty much 90% of the posts

        also this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/779272

        • +1

You are right on that. Btw I don't know how I missed that deal.

        • Pretty sure there's been plenty of bws, alcohol, apparel, shoes, tools, home inc vacuums, Aldi, Tvs, giftcards type deals too, etc. If u watch the bargins for a year you'll see that. Otherwise when you see something you like and buy and it's a deal post it if you got time :)

          • @cobknob: Yes, I missed the booze, but it's all the same stuff. Appparel and shoes have to "OzB-approved" otherwise it's a shitshow in the comments. Also missed the Dysons/Dreame vacuums, tools, TVs and GCs. Aldi I covered. Let's be generous and say that's 99% of the deals posted here. We can also add powerbanks and USB cables.

  • Great deal, I spent $85 delievered doing the same from Umart recently

The very similar EVO Plus for $47 at Amazon and $48 at Bing Lee (possibly cheaper at their eBay store if you have coupons) is the better deal if you don't need the card reader. The Pro Plus has higher max speeds but it won't matter for most applications.

    • what about if i intend to use it for dashcams? or more specifically … on tesla's sentry mode?

      • I'd expect a portable SSD would work for you much better - micro SD cards tend to wear fast and perform unreliable over the long term. IIRC sentry mode lets you plug in any USB device to use?

      • A high endurance SD card would work better, they have considerably better write ratings.

  • write speeds up to … 120MB/s

I've never been able understand such speed claims, when there is a "V30" rating printed on the card, which is 30MB/s. You'd think if it could do 120MB/s, it should have a V90 rating (which is the highest "V" rating, I believe).

Can anyone explain the disparity in layman's terms? Is the 120MB/s write speed achievable in real-world scenarios?

    • +3

I believe you can reach the max claimed speed by using samsung specific card reader, otherwise it could be capped by the UHS-I speed.

      • Some UHS-II card readers can utilise the higher speeds too but there is no guarantee that it will work.

    • +2

The vast majority of devices won't support 120MB/s for this card due to UHS-1 speed limits and even use in UHS-II devices doesn't guarantee that those speeds will be recognised. Not really much point of getting this over an EVO for 99% of people.

The V ratings are a guarantee that the speed will not drop below that speed. From what I've seen there is usually a significant buffer between the VXX rating and typical sustained write speeds e.g. V90 SD cards typically sustain speeds of 200MB/s+

    • +3

The "V" ratings are for minimum sustained write speed and are intended for video recording use. If your camera puts out 240Mbit/s (30MByte/s) video, you need a V30 or better card.

The "up to" speeds are typically burst speeds. It might be able to write some GBs of data at a higher speed, but it will slow down as the controller runs out of higher speed cache memory. Burst speeds are useful for application and general purpose use, and maybe still images, but useless for video.

  • Sandisk Extreme Pro over this any day.

    • Maybe couple of years ago but not when Sandisk Extreme Pro is set to write upto 90mb/s and samsung pro plus is up to 120mb/s. Use a UHS-II reader though

Have confirmed samsung write speeds at thrashing if not meeting sandisk's

      160mb/s R / 120mb/s W Samy Pro Plus
      200mb/s R / 90mb/s W Sandisk Ex pro

Check mate, samsung's quality is now at Sandisk if not better now days and better write speeds at each level evo/pro etc…

      • Write speed on the Extreme Pro is 130-140mb/s for the over 256gb models. Stop cherrypicking your data.

          • @Perthsucks:

But at UHS-I max 104mb/s. Sammy wins at 120mb/s @ the price hands down!!

This "Sammy" card is also UHS-I, so your statement makes no sense.

Both SanDisk and Samsung overclock the UHS-I bus with some of their readers, whenever they recognise a card that can operate at higher speed. That's how they're both claiming faster-than-104MB/s speeds on their UHS-I cards.

  • It’s OOS?

  • Anyone else receive double their order?

I ordered 2 (for $107.48), received 2 on Tuesday, and just got another 2 in the mail.

    Not a bad deal…
